Kirsten Powers: Obama admin cares more about trade agreements than they do about human rights

It seems clear now that the Obama administration has botched the handling of this asylum case of Chinese dissident Chang Guangcheng by letting him go without any assurances whatsoever. Krauthammer starts the clip below by saying that this is a test of the administration’s competence and whether or not they have any commitment at all to human rights. And at this point, he’s not sure how they resolve the situation given that Guangcheng is back in control of the Chinese.

But the main thing that caught my attention is Kirsten Powers taking it one step further in saying that she would rather this be about incompetence, but instead feels that the Obama administration has just decided that they care more about high level talks and trade agreements with the Chinese than they do about human rights. Ouch!

Krauthammer ends the segment defending his premise of incompetence, but really they both make a very interesting point about how the Obama administration has handled this:
