Have yet to throw my support behind any candidate yet – but I totally agree Hoffa’s comments are backfiring and energizing conservatives (the opposite of what he intended). The more they show their ‘real selves’ the more determined we work to bring major change in Washington DC!

This is nothing new, the Right has been dealing with this for years and will continue to until a more balanced, professional journalism appears.

There was a brief period when journalism was somewhat “professional.” When even a liberal like Walter Cronkite would hit the Democrats with tough, misery-inducing questions. One of the last of that breed was Sam Donaldson, who always leaned hard left, but still asked embarrassing questions of even the most beloved liberal icons.
But the press has always been about flogging papers, however you have to do it. Read about James Callender, for example. Once in a while a guy like Major Garret breaks through to represent a more idealistic, professional outlook on “journalism.”
But the vast majority of journalists are just “people writing and saying stuff.” That’s the full formula. It’s why the new media is kicking the old media’s a$$.

If Edward R. Murrow couldn’t see the real issue in the McCarthy hearings about reds in the State Dept and elsewhere, then I don’t see him as any different than a useful idiot, for all his seeming ‘gravitas.’ Sam Donaldson was a puke. Mainstream journalism is dead, with a few exceptions (like Jake Tapper today, like Major Garrett) and here we are on the Internet, the last frontier for news – a medium the left is desperately trying to control but is failing on all fronts.
To paraphrase Marshall McLuhan’s’ famous quote that “the medium is the message” – in the case of the MSM- the medium is no longer the message – it is a tool of personal attacks, threats and vitriol, proven soundly today with Hoffa’s threats toward the Tea Party.

I didn’t misunderstand McLuhan’s quote-only pointing out that the medium is no longer carrying the message (i.e. news, opposing points of view) – it has turned into a forum for desperate despots to foist ad hominem attacks on rivals instead of debating policy.

The only thing that shocks me, given the age of the US population, is that the liberals can still get the conservatives to fall for trying to hold liberals to whatever standardard they used last week or last year.
Just fire back. That fat boy never did an honest day’s work in his whole life. At least his father built a union by actually beating unwilling truck drivers over the head with a club. That may not be honest work either, but at least it’s “work,” sort of.

Just more BS to keep everybody distracted about what’s really going on. Hoffa (who nobody was talking about beforehand) says something stupid and then everybody has to blow more hot gas about it for a whole day. Meanwhile Europe is imploding, Libya is being taken over by NATO-supported Al-Qaeda, U.S. troops are protecting the poppy fields in Afghanistan, Obama is giving guns to Mexican drug cartels, and toxic banks are about to send us into a depression.
