This sounds a lot like what Newt has been saying about these Koran-burning apologies, with Krauthammer noting that the ‘graveling’ apologies made by the Obama admin is nothing short of embarrassing. But what I liked most about this clip is how he dismantles the logic of Kirsten Powers, that the apologies were made to protect our soldiers:

I will say this… every once in a while, Charles Krauthammer does get it (100%) right. Kirsten Powers, who at times has been somewhat civil, even though she’s a liberal, deserves to be smacked up verbally like this. The other day, she was way off base again on something and I’m sitting there thinking, “She REALLY believes her own BS! Wow!”

Who are these people? How can they be SO unbelievably different and backwards on these issues? Why the blindness to what our liar-and-chief is doing? No common sense…

  • http://black-avenger-1.livejournal.com/profile VirusX

I am so sick of Kristin Powers. Leave it to her to be an apologist, for the apologist. I’m sick of people using the excuse “we’re better than” to justify weakness. Maybe if they weren’t so arrogant and stupid, and didn’t think they were “better than” someone else, they’d have a better grasp on reality, and she know that apologizing to some people [mulsims] is a pointless gesture, and only invites more attacks. I know that there are some people I wouldn’t accept an apology from, because I have absolutely no respect for them, and couldn’t give a damn less if they are sorry, contrite, or anything else. Muslims operate the same way, but they just care about no one.

  • Maxsteele

Whatever happened to the good old days when we did not negotiate with terrorists?? Now we have gone to the opposite extreme where we, not only negotiate with them, but we grovel and beg for forgiveness from them??

Kirsten, to answer your question: Yes, we are better then them and that is why we tell them that we do not respond positively to acts or threats of violence. To use your “is this what we teach our children” nonsense as an analogy, if my son steps on another kids brand new nikes by mistake in the school yard and that kid responds by punching him in the face he has to respond by: 1. defending himself and ensuring that the other kid cannot hurt him, then (and only then) 2. apologize for stepping on the other kids shoe and following up with the statement that if the other kid ever tries to punch him again he is going to break his arm.
You do not grovel to bullies on the school yard and you never grovel to bullies in the world. Period.

Of course the violence has increased as the apology river began flowing. The apologies aren’t viewed as contrition. They’re viewed as weakness. It is vital to our national security that Obama be defeated this year. Clinton was nowhere near the groveling lapdog Obama is, but his reluctance to use our intel and military resources led Bin Laden to believe the US was a paper tiger that lacked the will to fight. Another Obama term and we will almost assuredly have another 9/11 on our hands.

The Hammer has this exactly right. ONE apology, while weak, could be spun as pandering.

Repeated tail-tucking invites more viciousness and aggression. People living under dictatorships only know one thing for certain. Follow the strong horse, because they at least won’t kill you right away. It’s almost impossible to understand if you have not been there. Literally opposite of what it’s like here. Act like a hostile Dick, and you’ll be waved at and cooperated with. The instant you show charity, you will be attacked or mobbed with demands. If you think about what kind of lifestyle they endure, you can’t blame them. I almost started a riot once by handing out a water bottle to a family sitting next to our convoy on the highway because EOD was blowing up an IED.

They are not stupid, and they think that if they raise enough hell, we will pull out. They know we are going to pull out anyway, so they want to be the “strong horse” that pushes us to leave early.

If I had to live there and knew that my guardians were about to leave me at the mercy of my enemy for purely political reasons in the near future, I would do the same thing that they are doing because the new regime will want to know who was a true supporter.

We make jokes about it in America, but over there it can be a life or death decision.

  • TENCOLE

If CK keeps talking like this, my respect for him will come back.

Good job Mr Krauthammer……..certifying for us that Kirsten Powers is truly a numbnuts….icing on the cake.

  • cabensg

When Krauthmammers right he’s really right and when he’s wrong he’s really wrong.
This time he was right and I love his logic when he is. He certainly didn’t outdo Gingrich on this one but I like that both of them are saying the same thing.

  • LIBERTYUSA

    …JUST ‘NUKE’ THE S.O.B.’s !”

  • keyesforpres

Personally, I don’t think we should have apologized at all.

  • Nukeman60

Watching Krauthammer against Powers is like watching a debate on Relativity between Einstein and Dumb & Dumber. Krauthammer gives good smackdowns when he gets riled up.

He did the same to Billo the other night when O’Reilly asked him ‘where did I go wrong’ about the oil companies. He didn’t have enough time in that segment to really get into it (he was just getting started), because Billo had to cut him off (Billo’s ego was slammed!).

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CKFGTNEKQQCXQZHLQ7EM72Q37E Michael Bittner

Billo should stick to reporting and NOT injecting his own opinion, because most of the time his opinion is wrong. As for Powers, well, when has she ever been right?!?!?!

    • tvlgds

Much of the time I find Powers to be fair and reasonable, although I rarely agree with her. Then other times she’s WAY out there! I recall Megyn Kelly handing her her @$$ bigtime when she was so off base. She is, however, one of the less offensive liberals that spews on the airwaves.

      • warpmine

While I agree with you I would like to say that all liberals are offensive all the time. Be it scientists or some dogooder politician, liberals are always offensive as I hate stupid people. It’s like throwing a hammer stright up in a dark room, it’s going to come back down and knock you on your head.

        • tvlgds

I agree with you, for the most part. I have, however, seen Kirsten Powers take the same stance as conservatives many times on particular things. I know she’s always a liberal, but she IS more fair than most the majority of the time.

          • warpmine

Well I guess she’s due for an epiphany. I’ll paraphrase Churchill, if young and not liberal, you have no heart, if your old and not conservative you must be stuipid

            • tvlgds

“I’ll paraphrase Churchill, if young and not liberal, you have no heart, if your old and not conservative you must be stupid”

THAT I can agree with. I also like what PJ O’Rourke said about being a democrat until he got his first paycheck. That guy cracks me UP!

              • warpmine

THAT I can agree with. I also like what PJ O’Rourke said about being a democrat until he got his first paycheck. That guy cracks me UP!

                Agreed

      • NYGino

She is one of a death by a thousand small cuts. Give her no quarter.

        • tvlgds

She bothers me less than most!

      • Is_Sense_Common

I only find her less offensive because she’s so much less believeable. She truly seems to be an idiot, IMO. I don’t usually go down that path with name-calling but she has no credentials & is truly just a talking-airhead.

    • Nukeman60

He’s probably 90% bloviating on his own opinions nowadays. I don’t even know why he has guests. He should just get a sidekick, much like Johnny Carson had Ed McMahon to be his ‘yes man’.

  • http://twitter.com/ozziecastillo Ozzie

Personally I loved the display of hypocrisy from the left. The attitude that “we’re better than them” contrasted with the Muslim self-esteem tour Obama gave a few years ago explains what they think of the people they patronize. They believe the commoner that they claim to love is scum and that’s why they try to “help” you. You can’t make it because you’re incapable, not smart enough, didn’t go to college…..basically, if you’re a group they target for victim status, they think you’re worthless- which is why they love abortion. We don’t want the proles procreating….they don’t even know how to feed their kids.

    • warpmine

That’s why the enemy thinks we’re so weak, he attends our universities as well, get’s a first hand view of the drivel that is academia and realizes western culture is a soft target. I’t our own fault for this because we let them in, we yell and scream at our own culture, put it down all the time in front of them, therefore, they believe that western culture is inferior as it produces malcontents all the time. In ME and Islamic countries malcontents are forced out or subjugated under harsh rule of either conform or die which makes them more likely to follow strict sharia practices and it makes them tough single minded. Western culture went that way once but it produced two world wars with millions dead and they want none of it. The left breeds malcontents rather than pride in what we’ve accomplished in five hundred years as a culture.

What muslims understand is strength. We don’t have the moral spine to defeat these homocidal maniacs. We are weak and ineffectual thanks to 50 years of Communist subversive activity in this country. McCarthy was right (see Venona files)all along but didn’t have the support he needed to defeat the propaganda operation mounted by the left. Things are looking pretty dismal these days. We are headed for a “utopian” scrap heap.

It’s about time people started speaking out about this and Charles, like Newt, has done an excellent job expressing the feelings of so many, me included.

Like other animals, the jihadists can smell fear, so the proper response to the violent outrage over the burning of desecrated korans is to burn more of them.

Who is this foolish woman and what background does she have to speak? Does she think that birth bestows some right to opine? How dare she compare the intercourse of nations with child rearing? Is there no shame? Is there no humility Is there …Is there no one who will recognize that ….?!?

She adds to the cute blonde pack they have a FNC. That’s it. She’s reveals her IQ every time she opens her mouth & speaks through those pouty lips.

What the left and Obama don’t understand:

    Apologies = appeasement = weakness.

  • 911Infidel

Well now Chucky, if you really believe that, then why did you ally yourself with AB Stoddard and condemn Geert Wildersawhile back? Are you perhaps sticking your finger to the wind as you did when you stopped working as a speech writer for Mondale? Hmmm?

  • Yazz55

Apologizing to terrorists only encourages them.

Now, they know we are paying attention to their terrorism.
So, they will ramp it up…to generate more apologies.

    • NYGino

Schoolyard bullies will always keep it up and increase the attacks if they see fear. They will also quit and slither away if shown active resistance.

  • Jay

Obama’s apologies are seen as a sign of weakness by the Islamic terrorists. These people are base thugs who only understand violence. Obama is a modern-day Chamberlain, kissing Muslim butt and crying “Peace in our lifetime!”

And I would be glad to extinguish any burning Koran I find. Provided I have a full bladder, of course.

  • JoelDick

What impresses me most about the K Hammer is that he’s always able to pick out exactly the appropriate word to portray the idea he’s communicating.

    “Grovelling”

Couldn’t have chosen a better word!

It’s past time to tell and expose the TRUTH about Islam/Mohammedism from the press, official venues.

Tell what Islam is, does and intends…by its basic books, doctrines and dogmas.

Islam is an evil, totalitarian, militant, violent, abusive, racist, rapist, misogynist, bestial, barbaric, anti-civilization movement.

There is nothing to recommend or defend Islam to the world.

Charles Krauthammer was right on this issue.

The General embarrassed himself and his country also. Shame on him. He will not look good in the history books. He’s an Obot who’s lost his God given ability to reason. We didn’t get an apology for the burning of the Bibles when they were sent from people in America to the soldiers. We were told this would upset the dear Jihadists. We didn’t get an apology when the cross was taken down from the barracks in the war zone, because it would upset the Islamic Jihadist. We didn’t get an apology when Zero told people not to mention God in the funeral services at Arlington anymore in this country. He covered up all symbols of Jesus when he spoke a Georgetown University.

I’m not a stupid drone, like Kirsten Powers, I can think. I have a God given ability to reason. This man is a Muslim, who supposedly converted to Christianity? No he’s not. First of all, if he converted to Christianity, he’d be marked for death, just like he or the Muslim Brotherhood Zero put in DHS and the State Dept. marked our Navy Seals for death. Then they arranged for all of them to be on the same helicopter to make it easy for the enemy to hit them. I’m not stupid. This creature in the White House is an enemy to America. This is what he’s doing, read it! I’m afraid they’re going to set more soldiers up to appease Islamic Jihad in Afghanistan. Watch and wait. No one wants to believe this b@#@#d isn’t who he says he is. Oh, it couldn’t happen here, could it? I never thought 9/11 could either. I’m sorry I’m long everyone. Sometimes I have to come here to rant. I feel like we’re fighting a cyber Revolution everyday and I have to come to fight.
