Well the neocon argument for defeating Obama has gone out of the window:
Neocon: “Obama is weak on foreign policy. He’s too inexperienced, naive and is making the wrong decisions”.
Obama: “I got Osama bin Laden”.
Argument over.
So the alternative argument is the economy, the overspending, the debt, the taxes and inflation. In other words, the Tea Party argument. On this, Obama is easy.
Having said that, the “Man who got Osama” is a powerful campaign slogan. It’ll appeal to many people and destroys the argument that Obama is weak.

That issue may have been a large part of election 08. The economy has been an issue for pretty much Obama’s entire term since his election. I don’t even remember the last time anyone, including the media, has brought up Afghanistan.
Agree with your last comment. It will help him a lot with independents, if they can get over the economy hump. I doubt that any conservative will be arguing defense with a crippled economy and such high unemployment.

The elections will be close only if the crooks in DC can rig the economy to look reasonably good at election time. I am sure they are doing all they can. Eventually, however, the seeds of destruction planted by Zero (ie-so called stimulus) will start to work their magic.
Stagflation or an inflationary depression will eventually take root and began to grow. It will be at that point when the ultimate question is answered “Are enough strong, freedom loving, self determined voters remaining in the United States to be able to turn around the global decent into collectivism?”
In other words, we the American public will eventually get what we deserve.
