Did they pay Mr. Asner for narrating this travesty of an educational video? He is part of the 1%, right? The whole video and it's premise is just asinine.
Wow! With every second of Ed Asner's condescending voice, I could feel my IQ dropping lower and lower.
Flat tax. Everyone has too many deductions and tax loopholes. Businesses don't pay taxes anyway. They hire people at rock bottom wages and keep their prices high because there is a high ratio of people looking for work vs job openings. It's dishonest especially when the CEO's are still taking home hefty bonuses, pay and perks.
Flat tax and pay for performance. No CEOs getting rich while running companies into the ground. But that kind of stuff has to come from the shareholders.
The California Federation of Teachers has BILLIONS invested in Wall Street [bit.ly/R8Qolu] and ironically, hundreds of millions invested with Bain Capital. [bit.ly/VlhqkX] The hypocrisy is sickening. Here in CA the "rich" are the public sector unions and they have most of the power.

Until someone that believes this is a problem nothing will change. Until someone comes forward and says that we have a social safety problem and progressive tax problem then this country is screwed. I actually thought it was howlingly funny that the "California Teacher's Federation would put out a video that was so easily debunked. That chart about education spending should be put right next to a chart showing graduation rates and test scores.

Spot on. Also in addition to playing a buffoon on the MTM Show it turns out that Mr Grant (aka Ed A$$ner) is also one in real life. Who'd a thunk it? And now Mr Grant has decided that he's into yellow rain games. Poor Mr Grant. He's becomming a very weird geez.

Face it - Romney, Clinton, Corzine, Madoff, and the many other greedy politicians and vulture capitalists, such as those responsible for the housing debacle/bubble, are the reason for this kind of sentiment about the rich.

I don't agree with your choices above - Romney does not really fit, he actually created wealth. You should include: Barney Frank, Todd, Hillary Clinton, Soros, Rangle, Chuck Schumer, Sharpton, Greene. They are all the hate mongers that made boat loads of cash off of the housing crisis they created.

california teachers are union members, this means they bunch of trolls of the unions. they are not allowed to think for themself because their mindless idiots. they become teachers to get rich and not for the love of teaching kids.
So many lies & other errors.
A few somewhat less obvious falsehoods me are that the rich have paid little in taxes (top 1% pay ~39% of Fed Income Taxes; larger portion than 2001 & almost double of early 80s); and less money to pay for gov services (all Gov is 40% of GDP; ~35% under Bush; ~33% under Clinton; ~30% in the 60s).
As for public education: the real$ per pupil has triples since the 60s, yet scores are same or worse. Similarly, wages for police & firefighters have increased substantially.
Overall, gov employees are paid (including benefits, but not even pensions) almost double than private sector per comparable output per hour.
This is the way it is done. We must quickly debunk anything the left puts out there before it has time to take roots as supposed fact. Fighting the LameStream should be our number one goal in taking back control of this great nation.
The propaganda wing of Obama's WhiteHouse has many spokes ( the LameStream, the Unions, inner city cntrol of the voting process). The average citizen needs to hear how they manipulate our lives.

One of the most brilliant moves of the leftists, media and academics in America was to convince us that Fascism is "right wing". Take note of "Trotsky's" plan in the cartoon analyzed in context of our fascist leader.
We all know what followed that attempted "recovery".
Just a few things to consider. 1) in 1938 we were energy self sufficient 2)we borrowed money from the U S banks for our debt. 3)We lead the world in manufacturing (no world economy). All of that has changed, and if we go to near the edge, The Great Experiment in Freedom and Personal Independence goes with it.
You know how the left is always wailing about negative stereotypes in cartoons? I remember hearing people complaining about the black crows in the movie Dumbo and about how horrible they were because they were supposedly depicting black people negatively. I respond by saying, it's just a cartoon. I'm white, and I'm not offended by Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam. Those cartoons were used for entertainment, not to smear any group of people.
This, on the other hand, is different. It's not intended to entertain but to inform, or I should say misinform. And it truly has an evil agenda in trying to enforce a negative stereotype about the 'wealthy' I don't hear the left complaining about negative stereotypes in this case.
Liberals go about their daily life hoping to Obama to be offended! They seek being offended to justify their pitiful sad existence. Even cartoons are not safe!

Yeah, I know! When I was little I just thought it was a good movie. I liked the crows and it wasn't until I was older that I was told I was supposed to feel guilty about that.
Just as he says in the rebuttel, it is the politics of envy. These teachers are jealous that they don't have what rich people have, so they want to punish them for it. Also, this is a pure propaganda video, designed to edjumacate our youth about the eeeeevils of being rich.

Couldn't stomache watching this video for more than 1 minute, even with the critique included. It's one of the most vile pieces of propaganda I've ever seen. That smug arrogant voice brings me to the verge of wanting to pound some sense into the arrogant bastard. The simplistic way they wave their hate into a children's cartoon, using the genre of a simple fable to try and stoke the flames of resentment in our youth is outrageous.
Fables have their place. Aesop's fables are wonderful examples of simple timeless truths that are clearly explained through the format of a fable. To smear the motives of the 'wealthy' as well as their history of contribution to our tax system and our society in general is evil. Marxism pure and simple.
It never ceases to amaze me how the left is completely immune to actual facts.
The truth to them has become something bazaar and totally unrecognizable. Stunning.
I was listening to the Michael Medved show yesterday and he had several callers who all claimed that the "solution" to the recession is to double or triple the minimum wage. Then all those people who work at McDonald's would be able to afford to buy cars and houses. Another guy said that the solution is to *lower* the retirement age to 55 to "free up" all those jobs that older people have so younger people could take them. Then we wouldn't have so many young people on welfare and/or food stamps.
These dimwits had NO idea where the money to raise the minimum wage would have to come from. One said, "Just double the price of Big Macs".
And I guess all those younger retirees **just magically** would never face economic uncertainty. "Sorry Grandpa. You can't work as a Wal-Mart greeter anymore. You're just going to have to stretch that Social Security money. Did you know that store brand cat food makes a sandwich almost as good as tuna?"
What can one say in the face of ignorance at that level? It's just beyond belief. That's why I just don't see things getting better or America ever recovering.
There is One who will put all things right someday. But, until then....we're in deep.
Great response to an ignorant and extremely false video produced by alleged educators! If teachers are smart enough to teach, then they should be smart enough to handle saving for their own economic futures, speak for themselves, and do their jobs. These aren't educators, they are propaganda driven union, socialist drones that have zero interest in educating anyone or teaching anyone to be self sufficient. It's all about spreading the victim mentality and the falsehood of social justice. This precisely why I pulled my children from the public schools! They are a wasteland for burn out teachers, irresponsible administrators, and socialist propaganda. Their entire purpose is not to educate, but to create worker bee drones, content to sit on the bottom of society and collect a welfare check. It is a sin to be thoughtful, honest, and industrious in their eyes. Heaven forbid that children learn to think...they might get the idea that they can control their own lives, instead of feeding greedy union bosses drunk on their money and power.
There is a triumvirate of corruption that has caused this, A. The Political Class, B. The Money/Market/Wall Street/World Bank/Fed/Mfg/Commodity/Currency manipulators and C. The Unions.
They always make the middle class and workers pay for their greed/power-mongering.
The last election proved that most Americans have no problems for voting for a European-style social-welfare state. And as with the disasters in Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Ireland, we can see how "well" that is all turning out for the Europeans. Sky-high unemployment, very high taxes, no economic growth, no prospects for young people to get any jobs (let alone live on their own), and a military defense that is laughable. In fact, most (if not all) of these European countries today would be hard-pressed to even be able to defend their own borders, let alone project power anywhere else in the world. So, hey, if this is what America now believes in and what America wants, at least according to the last election, then knock yourself out. But when the economy finally does collapse by 2016, I don't want to hear any of these socialists, liberal democrats, or RINO Republicans whining and crying about what we did wrong. What the voters did was give Obama a blank check to spend us into oblivion. Obama is even acting that way in the "fiscal cliff" standoff. So I hope everybody enjoys the jump into the financial abyss, which is going to make the Great Depression look like a joke.
I believe what Hussein and company have built here is far far worse than Europe. It is all back end loaded - a powder keg.. Yet to come is the inflation, the massive impact of rising interest rates on our debt, the true cost of obamacare, only half the citizens paying taxes, only 1.25 workers for every person on the dole, massive increase in welfare recipients, inevitable military spending, gutting of Medicare, boomers moving out of taxpayer role into SS/Medicare role.....
The ignorant voter who made it possible for America to become something other then America by electing obama and his cronies in congress, are going to whine alright, when everything collapses. But they won't be whining about what we (er they) did wrong, they'll be whining that the government needs to do more! That is how "ignorant" the majority of the electorate has become. Sad. Sad for America and sad for those of us who still can think clearly and really do love this country.

That's all that Ed Asner is worth after being on The Mary Tyler Moore show, one of the most-watched, most re-run television series in history (I'll bet they're still paying residuals for the re-runs); after starring in THREE other TV series; after doing voice over work for Disney/Pixar (Up), for commercials and as President of the Screen Actors Guild? That's it?? 1.5 million measly dollars?
I guess Ed is just as stupid as this video. Another example of a lib having no clue about how smart money works. No wonder he's jealous of "rich folks".
