If anyone is pro-life and wondering how to effectively argue for the prolife position, I heartily recommend Stand To Reason's program. It boils down to two questions: What is abortion? What is/are the unborn? While a Christian site, they do not use faith and religion to argue the point. They use logic and science. Since most pro-choice people are relativists, postmodernists and use shifting goalposts and will not even accept anything from the Bible as evidence/proof, STR's simple approach streamline's one's argument for the prolife position and makes it quite simple and easy to win debates because you then give the prochoicer no wiggle room and you continually bring them back to the core questions.
Oh, and by the by, don't forget too that Obamacare allows for taxpayer funded abortions. Obama lied yet again. His Stupaked Executive order was proved a shamwow presentation we knew it was. http://wadingacross.wordpress.com/2010/07/14/ob…

I always use the whole “I don't think we should be allowed to kill somebody else because we chose to be irresponsible”…. that will get me an angry response and always brings up rape and incest. After that one is clarified with the statistics then the inevitable “It's my body or it's not your choice” usually followed by the attacks on me.
I avoid those conversations now just because they don't want to acknowledge that it's alive and human and deserving of protection as a human life because it's in their body. Fact is that almost all of the time they put it their by irresponsible or risky behavior. Constant victim mentality.
Personally the whole deal of women's rights is just cover for the population control they've been setting up knowing that they'll need it under the nanny state since they hardly want to support the lower class.
Anyways- Like a moth to a flame….I can't stay away from this one.

To me, life must legally begin at birth… not at conception. If we say that life begins at conception, then isn't every miscarriage not just a death, but a homicide?
And if the mother did something which even indirectly caused it, isn't that manslaughter, according to the legal definition? I know several women who wanted children, and it took them several tries to conceive and carry to term. Their doctors told them they were high risk, but they were determined. One had 9 miscarriages, but kept trying and finally had a baby. But if life begins at conception… then don't all those attempts amount to negligent homicide… and the successful ones to reckless endangerment? If we adopt the concept that life begins at conception, then the woman we now praise in her attempt to have a baby though she fails time and again… becomes a selfish, heartless child killer.

Disagree- those are attempts at creating lives- and it ends by natural cause.

Perhaps you meant to use the word “latter” instead of “ladder”?

If allowing people to choose whether or not they want to have abortions is a part of the population control agenda, then why wouldn't they move on to mandatory sterilizations and coercive abortions like China?
The only reason anybody's really having this argument is because we human beings think that just because we have bigger brains that we are somehow different than every other animal.
I'm well-aware that abortion is actually killing a baby, but I also truly believe that there are too many people on this planet.
I've made this case before and I'll make it again. If you had to choose between letting people voluntarily abort or mandatory abortions because of lack of resources…I'd go with the first choice which we currently have in this country.

Clarification: What I meant by the animal comment is that we as humans feel that it's our right to control the population of any other species which becomes too great in numbers, but when it comes to doing so for our own species…that's just “evil.”
- Tyler
There are other ways to control the population too which don't require such contraversial arguments to be made either such as sterilizing people through vaccines which Alex Jones and other “conspiracy theorists” believe the H1N1 vaccine is an attempt at. There's also sterilizing people through the preservatives that are put in our food or the pills that we take for pain and other ailments. So…your “combat the population control agenda” argument doesn't really have much relevance to the topic at hand. Nature has found ways to balance life out time and time again. If you make it illegal for people to voluntarily abort, then nature will take the lives of those kids in another way. If a child is meant to be aborted…it'll happen. If the child is not, then it won't. That's really the bottom line. If pro-lifers stand in the way of a mother's decision, then nature will likely infect the child with a deadly disease or give the mother a miscarriage. If a mother tries to get an abortion for a child which is not supposed to be, then nature can find a way to change the mother's mind.
- Tyler
It's about freedom, people…2nd bottom line. “What about the rights of the unborn?” you might ask. God will decide who gets to be born and who doesn't…even if it's using human beings as vessels.

If “it” is not a baby, then how does the mother soon “have a baby?” This issue is so disgusting- a major mar on the mores of society, and in my opinion it defines progressivism

The basic disagreement seems to be on what exactly constitutes a human being, which is a really difficult question to answer. If the fetus above is a human because he resembles a born human then an ape is also a human, since he also resembles a born human. If the fetus above is a human being because he carries the DNA of a born human then a spermcell is also a human.
It also strikes me as odd why the christian faith in particular is so occupied with pro-life. You would expect the pro-life and the christian religion to be independent beliefs but they are clearly connected. To me this seems to suggest that pro-life is not so much a rational point of view but a culturally driven point of view. I keep trying to imagine a person walking in to a church in the bible belt, declaring to be pro-choice and then intending to join the prayer.
From the “babykiller” rethoric and the teaching of pro-life to kids in kindergarten to the murder of abortion doctors – doesn't every pro-lifer have to a least once look left and right at his peers and ask himself: how much of their opinion has been formed by the society surrounding them and how much of this opinion is actually their own?

You can look at this video one of two ways. It can make you very sad or angry to know that people like this are being lied to by Planned Parenthood – the abortion factory; or you can thank God for organizations like Live Action Films for shining sunlight into the darkness. I choose the latter, because I just can’t handle being angry anymore today.
Ok, it does make me angry; I guess that’s unavoidable. But as a temporary antidote, I suggest watching this.
