Marco Rubio talks about GOP version of DREAM act

It’s important to note up front that Rubio says they are still working out the details and trying to get answers to questions of how many people this will affect and if there is any cost involved. But the basic outline of his plan is that those children of illegals who were brought here through no fault of their own and have graduated high school with merit-based excellence would qualify for a student visa. Then they could apply just like anyone else for a green card through the normal process, not some new amnesty process like in the original DREAM act. He emphasizes that this does not create any new path to citizenship.

Honestly this is something I could support as long as the border is secured going forward. But there’s no way I’d support anything like this in the short-term without proof that our border is being secured to prevent illegals from crossing en masse.
