Mark Levin to Allen West: Stop shooting Herman Cain in the back

***UPDATED***

Mark Levin makes clear that despite his strong endorsement of Allen West, he disagrees with West’s comments today where he said Cain should drop out of the race because he’s a distraction:

Colonel, we don’t allow the liberal media and allegations, from my point of view, to chase candidates out of the race. The people haven’t voted yet. Now if he decides he wants to get out of the race because of family matters and so forth, he’ll get out of the race. But if we start doing these sort of things, allowing them to pick us to pieces, in many ways it is like a military operation but without dangerous weapons… You can’t start shooting your own people in the back. I’ve said this before and I’m going to continue to say it.

UPDATE: Allen West clarified his comments on his Facebook page earlier today:

“The media is trying to put me against Herman Cain. I guess its good for them to see two black men against each other. The facts are I am not telling Cain to step down. That is his decision and his only. What I said is the media focus on these incidents and “alleged affairs” are a distraction, and we as a country need to move on from this subject and get the focus on what the GOP contenders can seriously do for this country.
