On a slow news day, I decided to go back and get something from last night that I really wanted to post anyway. This is a short segment from a larger interview, where Levin puts Newt on the spot to find out what he would do if he became President in 2012. Now I know that some of you dislike Newt for a cascade of reasons, but would he really be that bad? I think he’d be great and wouldn’t shy away from voting for him if he became the Nominee. I just wonder if he could win the nomination over Palin.

If Newt is like this all the time, he would get my vote. However, some of his endorsements (Scozzofava, Bennett), as well as sitting alongside Nancy Pelosi in that Al Gore commercial irked me. We shall see.

He admitted Scozzoffava was a mistake thank goodness. The sitting along side Pelosi and traveling with Al Sharpton on education was a huge mistake, though I think Newt wanted to be seen as someone who is capable of working with those on the left, it certainly backfired on him, especially with the Tea Party movement.
I must say he has confused me and pissed me off at times while at other times I truly have been in love and could listen to him for hours. At this point our country is in a state of emergency, with Obama at the helm runnings things, that I would vote for Newt over Palin if I thought his numbers looked better then hers, I'm that desperate.

    Respectfully,

Newt brings the sugar of 'talking points'… but men like LTC ALLEN WEST and Gov. Chris Christie bring the meat of proven, non-vacillating LEADERSHIP.

…and neither one of them needs, nor accepts a “hyphen” in front of their AMERICAN status (both serve as Republicans, both speak as AMERICANS). That's refreshing AND healing for this purposely-divided nation of citizens. The first word out of Newt's mouth is still “republican”.

The only person hated more than Palin, Rush, and Coulter is Newt. I was his biggest fan and supporter until wife number 3. Sorry Newt, you're a smart guy with tons of great ideas but you won't win any election for the rest of your life.

I am just not sure about Newt,he is a member of the “Old Guard”of the Republican Party. I really believe that if Conservatives are going to reclaim our country we need newer younger blood that believe in the Constitution and all it stands for, that revere our Founders and what they stood for while also bearing in mind that they were men and that man is flawed, but that these were individuals that recognized this and strove to overcome those flaws. There is no room for those who would “cherry pick” our Constitution, our Liberties or our Rights. We need to find and support those individuals who recognize, respect and honor what it means to be a representative of we the people as well as to be entrusted with the honor of being a guardian of the Republic and it's Constitution. They are out there.

Ken, the entire post was a well-crafted head-nodder. But that last statement has long been one of the cornerstones of my thoughts and convictions about the servant/leaders this nation Deserves… and must work to create (the current debacle is sickening proof that we MUST raise them from our ranks, communities and families… our enemies damn-sure have been ~ for AGES) and DEMAND of the pool of applicants for 'public' service (from city hall – to the halls of Congress).

A vote for this ass, a Romney or Huckme is a vote for “we need to set down wthour honorable Democratic colleagues”. We fought a cold war and lost thousand's of young men in two wars againest the commies, but now a social democrat isn't my enemy? And what does limited goverment mean, limited to republican rule? The Republicans have never reduced the size of the fed. govt.(only slowed for 8 years under Reagen) Are we so stupid to think they will now? Were screwed and we all know it!

  • KeninMontana

I forgot to mention the biggest stumbling block for the GOP, Chairman Steele, this individual has done more to damage the party than any Democrat ever could. If the Republican party wants to truly return to the party of a Federal Government that is limited to it's areas of Constitutionally enumerated authority, then Steele needs to go.

I lost all respect for Newt when he signed on to the “global climate change” bandwagon. Up til then, I would have supported him in an election bid. When he did that, it proved that he doesn't have the courage of his convictions at the very least, and at the worst, he's just another political prostitute ready to sell out to the cause dijour.

That's the last thing we need in office right now. I'm with CM Sackett and Keninmontana. We need people with courage and convictions that will serve with honor.

Hi Mike, I wish you well!!! I think, Newt would make a very good President. As far as his past personal issues – well WE all had ( have? ) them. Ben Franklin was a great patriot and yet if you look into his personal file you will find that it wasn't as rosy. If someone speaks bad of us, we need to forgive and understand that as long as we do not do that to others THAT is what's important. I truly believe that people need to weigh where their there hearts are and what another persons motivations are in order to make a sound decision for the best outcome. If a man has bad intentions then it will be seen. But, if he adheres to honesty THAT will be a value to all people. I see Newt that way. He really does want the best for our country. Plus he's a great historian. If we have a leader who doesn't know and UNDERSTAND the past, we may be doomed for a repeat performance. Such as what is now happening is a continuation of FDR and Wilson eras.
We will NEVER have a squeaky clean president because ya see NO ONE is perfect. The only One Who is perfect has come and gone but will surely return. So, as long as we occupy this planet we should all do well to others.
    HAVE A BLESSED DAY.
