Matthews mocks republicans for belief in creationism

Chris Matthews reports on a poll conducted by Gallup that shows that 40% of American’s believe in strict creationism as told in the Bible. He then breaks it down by political affiliation – oh wait, he actually only broke it down by the 52% of republicans who believe in creationism because to him it’s no surprise that more republicans believe in creationism than democrats. Since he doesn’t tell us how the democrats scored, I’ll just assume that 51% of them believe in creationism. Wow, I didn’t know democrats were so spiritual!

As a side note, would Matthews mock muslim republicans for believing in their own version of a 6-day creation as told in the Qu’ran? Yeah, I’m guessing not.

Matthews somewhat smug defense of evolution came in only two questions: ‘what about all those dinosaur bones and what about lucy?’ I actually think those are fairly reasonable questions and as far as lucy goes, if Matthews believes that she is his ancestor, then I wonder in what he sees the resemblance? The face? The feet? Even the hands? Oh wait, the bones they found didn’t really have a face, feet or hands at all!

I’m not sure I see the resemblance either, but the little bitty bone at the far left may resemble the size of his brain. That’s probably a good fit. One thing that I can say for sure though is that whatever Lucy actually was, I’m sure that if she had her own TV show she’d get more ratings than he does.

Oh and if you want to know more about the ‘Lucy deception’ and are curious to see what science was able to make those few bones look like, then watch this video. It’s amazing what a little makeup and fur can do for a few bones!

Regarding his question about dinosaurs, I believe they lived among humans and are mentioned in the Bible several times. But don’t go looking for the word ‘dinosaurs’ in the Bible because you won’t find it. It wasn’t invented until the 1800s. But you will find the word ‘dragon’ in the Bible and throughout history, and I believe those dragons are what we now call dinosaurs.

But don’t just take my word for it. If you have a few minutes let an actual scientist tell you all about how dinosaurs are in the Bible. He’ll explain everything I mentioned above and much more. He’s pretty entertaining too, although I’d have to say his humor is a bit corny.
