Pardon my complete skepticism, but here are my thoughts on this entire dog and pony show. These same senators (with the exception of Cruz) who just rammed through the approval of John Kerry are now playing tough and putting Hagel on the hot seat, right? Know what I think? It's to placate those of us who are pretty ticked off at weak GOP Senators. They will play this game with Hagel and in the end, he will be confirmed. I believe it's all a lie. All of it. I'm sorry, folks. I just am not buying any of this anymore. The fact that Fast and Furious and Benghazi is just hanging out there, with nothing substantive done, tells me all I need to know. This fool will be put into the position, just like melting-face Kerry got his appointment. All a big show.
McCain is merely burnishing his patina of conservatism to a national audience, as you suggest. (This is probably among his most pleasurable moments, the performance as well as the midnight replay.) And I'm sure his big donors expect it of him. But it means nothing. A man who will vote for Kerry for SoS cannot possibly have any legitimate qualms about voting yes on Hagel.
And Jeff Sessions too once that side of Hagel is cooked over the open flames

The more the LameStream does this, the more I realize that I'm backing the right people. When they start smearing Obama, I'll have to take a close look at what he is doing right.

Hagel just looked stupid. But the real question is, if he didn't support the surges in both Iraq AND Afghanistan, the war he thought was the "good war," then what is Hagel willing to fight for? When the Islamists are marching in Time Square? We've heard a lot of what military action Hagel is NOT willing to support. The question for me is, is he willing to support ANY military action? I doubt it. Isolationism got us the first 9/11. Isolationism will give us the next one as well.
Because.....cost. No retort from McCain about the lives lost in 9/11 and the declaration of war by the mooooslime murdering innocent Americans, including children, on our soil

My thought is that if the GOP has the ability to block these heinous appointments, then they should. If they can keep Hitlery tied up until she tells the truth, then why don't they? But they cave time and time again... and America suffers. And worse... MANY of them voted for Kerry... huh? Seriously?
If they don't have enough votes or authority or whatever to stop these insane picks... then why bother with this charade? The left frequently uses dog and pony shows to amaze the ignorant... to enchant the weak-minded... and Republicans follow suit? Why bother Republicans if you're going to concede one battle to fight for another one... why bother if you can't stop Obama and his ilk from doing anything they want? By being limp-wristed and spineless, you've become a non-factor. Impotent. Useless. Even if you don't have the numbers, you haven't made the point(s) effectively either.
This Hagel clown is not quick on his feet at all... he sounds "old" in many respects. Yeah, he's exactly who Obama wants and needs in this position... someone to take the fall when Obama's legacy is written... when it all goes to hell (and it will). Hagel is a perfect Patsy. Just what Obama ordered. An apparent pacifist, indecisive, basis leading the military on emotion and apprehension and not winning the war. A strong YES MAN who can't answer a simple question.

Why should Hagel be able to complete a coherent thought? Showbama can't. Shrillary can't. Biden can't. Kerry can't. It would seem he's perfect for the job.

Hagel believes the US to be an criminal imperialistic power just like Panetta before him and everyone else in thei regime's cabinet. He was just stupid enough to say what he thinks. It hilarious how Levin rephrased Hagel's to show him how to obfuscate and filibuster while sounding legitimate.
Well, I was listening fairly closely right there. Levin didn't order him not to do it. He suggested he not, wanted a transcript instead, but didn't want to interfere if he wanted to use the video and audio. Cruz had Hagel up on a screen. Hagel had to sit there and watch and hear his own incriminating answers.
He just went after Hagel with his own words in an entire recording. I think that we need to remember that he wasn't the Attorney General of Texas he was a Solicitor General (He went before the Supreme Court). Don't mess with Cruz. lol
Is this the best President Obama can come up with for the post of Secretary of Defense?? How I miss the days of Secretary Cheney.
It is embarrassing to think someone like Hagel would be representing us in front of world powers.
