Hagel clearly doesn’t want to admit he was wrong about the troop surge in Iraq back in 2006 and says he’d rather let history make the judgement on it. But McCain won’t accept that answer and pushes back hard, continually pressing Hagel for a direct answer – even to the point of threatening a no vote if he continues to refuse to answer:

This is McCain's job and specialty. The Tea Party doesn't have much interest in the decade-old surge and the GOP RINO Prez. Even though the surge did end up working and my heart's with GW Bush after the loss of Barney. It's not personal.

Wonder if this fool along with the other fools who live in the one's world realize that when they call the war a blunder it means that the soldiers lost their lives for a blunder.

Pardon my complete skepticism, but here are my thoughts on this entire dog and pony show. These same senators (with the exception of Cruz) who just rammed through the approval of John Kerry are now playing tough and putting Hagel on the hot seat, right? Know what I think? It's to placate those of us who are pretty ticked off at weak GOP Senators. They will play this game with Hagel and in the end, he will be confirmed. I believe it's all a lie. All of it. I'm sorry, folks. I just am not buying any of this anymore. The fact that Fast and Furious and Benghazi is just hanging out there, with nothing substantive done, tells me all I need to know. This fool will be put into the position, just like melting-face Kerry got his appointment. All a big show.

McCain is merely burnishing his patina of conservatism to a national audience, as you suggest. (This is probably among his most pleasurable moments, the performance as well as the midnight replay.) And I'm sure his big donors expect it of him. But it means nothing. A man who will vote for Kerry for SoS cannot possibly have any legitimate qualms about voting yes on Hagel.

And Jeff Sessions too once that side of Hagel is cooked over the open flames

Edit: Mike Lee from UT too please

Edit: Can you also post Kelly Ayotte's? Would love to see her in action.

I hope the GOP is finally taking a stand after kissing Kerry's posterior parts. It would be about time!

Yea, and McCain will still vote for him?

Not if he says: "What difference does it make now!" That would tick him off.

McCain is a sissy punk.

"Directly answer my question, or shut your speaking sphincter. I will not bull sh*t, I will not beat around the bush, and I will not tolerate those that do. If you can't answer a simple question, you are not fit for a complex job. Period. I have no more questions for this Jew hating punk."

Hagel is very synaptically challenged now isn't he. Answer the question, yes or no.

Orangeone

I couldn't tell if brain to mouth wasn't working, memory on how to deflect the question was failing or if he's drunk. He reminds me of our drunkard Gov Mark Dayton

Forget about McCain - the way the leftards are already spewing filth about Sen Ted Cruz shows that he's hit home, hard, twice in two hearings.

The LyingScreaminMeejah will now home in on him, he'll be Palinised by the weekend.

The more the LameStream does this, the more I realize that I'm backing the right people. When they start smearing Obama, I'll have to take a close look at what he is doing right.

It sounds like he has all the qualifications for this administration, a Yes man who hates Israel..now if he gets four guys killed or more he can run as a Democrat in 2016...

Hagel just looked stupid. But the real question is, if he didn't support the surges in both Iraq AND Afghanistan, the war he thought was the "good war," then what is Hagel willing to fight for? When the Islamists are marching in Time Square? We've heard a lot of what military action Hagel is NOT willing to support. The question for me is, is he willing to support ANY military action? I doubt it. Isolationism got us the first 9/11. Isolationism will give us the next one as well.

Orangeone
Orangeone

Because.....cost. No retort from McCain about the lives lost in 9/11 and the declaration of war by the mooooslime murdering innocent Americans, including children, on our soil

The GOP gave the left a pass on Hillary and John Kerry so they could get to this clown... It's nice to see the "Maverick" going after this idiot... but he let the other idiots slip through. Nice... (not)

My thought is that if the GOP has the ability to block these heinous appointments, then they should. If they can keep Hitlery tied up until she tells the truth, then why don't they? But they cave time and time again... and America suffers. And worse... MANY of them voted for Kerry... huh? Seriously?

If they don't have enough votes or authority or whatever to stop these insane picks... then why bother with this charade? The left frequently uses dog and pony shows to amaze the ignorant... to enchant the weak-minded... and Republicans follow suit? Why bother Republicans if you're going to concede one battle to fight for another one... why bother if you can't stop Obama and his ilk from doing anything they want? By being limp-wristed and spineless, you've become a non-factor. Impotent. Useless. Even if you don't have the numbers, you haven't made the point(s) effectively either.

This Hagel clown is not quick on his feet at all... he sounds "old" in many respects. Yeah, he's exactly who Obama wants and needs in this position... someone to take the fall when Obama's legacy is written... when it all goes to hell (and it will). Hagel is a perfect Patsy. Scoop nailed this one...

Just what Obama ordered. An apparent pacifist, indecisive, basis leading the military on emotion and apprehension and not winning the war. A strong YES MAN who can't answer a simple question.

I can't respect any Republican who votes 'yes' for this guy.

Sober_Thinking

Agreed.

Any of them who vote for this joke of an appointee, has already been assimilated by the Borg. They should be earmarked for firing in the coming months/years.

Nukeman60

Spot on. Just watch them give a pass here too, though. They just want their own 'dog and pony' show. Let's see how many actually vote against him. I'm betting not too many.

Why should Hagel be able to complete a coherent thought? Showbama can't. Shrillary can't. Biden can't. Kerry can't. It would seem he's perfect for the job.

Cruz ignored Levin's order to not play audio. I love it! Cruz will not sit up pretty and play by their rules.

Hagel believes the US to be an criminal imperialistic power just like Panetta before him and everyone else in thei regime's cabinet. He was just stupid enough to say what he thinks. It hilarious how Levin rephrased Hagel's to show him how to obfuscate and filibuster while sounding legitimate.

Rshill7
Rshill7

Well, I was listening fairly closely right there. Levin didn't order him not to do it. He suggested he not, wanted a transcript instead, but didn't want to interfere if he wanted to use the video and audio. Cruz had Hagel up on a screen. Hagel had to sit there and watch and hear his own incriminating answers.

He's wiping the floor with Hagel.

Gawd, Cruz is outstanding.

He just went after Hagel with his own words in an entire recording. I think that we need to remember that he wasn't the Attorney General of Texas he was a Solicitor General (He went before the Supreme Court). Don't mess with Cruz. lol
