Michelle Malkin: Self-deluded Republicans are stampeding to immigration because they think it is salvation

Michelle Malkin was on with Stuart Varney today to discuss the rush to immigration reform and she said that self-deluded Republicans are stampeding for this shamnesty because they see it as salvation for the party in light of the 2012 losses. That’s exactly right.

She also points out that by framing border security as just to do with Latinos is doing nothing but playing the race-card when it is really an issue of national security.

One thing that struck me in this interview was that Stuart Varney, who I’ve always thought was pretty solid, seemed to be taking the Republican Establishment side on immigration a little too far. I understand playing Devil’s advocate, but he both questioned of Michelle whether Conservatives could EVER be convinced that the border is secure, and then a few minutes later suggested that Malkin’s position of rounding up and deporting the half million illegals who are on the run from deportation orders was ‘hard-line’. How in the world is it hard-line, considering our immigration system has already ruled they be deported?

In any event, Malkin does a superb job of countering Stuart’s every question and makes great points on this issue along the way.
