Via CNN:

(CNN) – Police took a man into custody Monday after “multiple people” were shot near Texas A&M University, a police official said.

Several law enforcement officers were among the people shot, Rhonda Seaton of the College Station Police Department told CNN. She didn’t have information on how many people were shot or their conditions.

She said a person identified as the gunman was in custody. The shooting happened about one block from campus, Seaton said.

Officer Jon Agnew with the Bryan Police Department said at least one civilian had been injured. Bryan is adjacent to College Station.

Police are still at the scene making “sure there aren’t multiple suspects,” Officer Jason James of the Bryan Police Department said.

James said the first call was that an officer was down and shots had been fired.

After the initial report, the university warned people to stay away from the intersection of Welborn Road and George Bush Drive as well as part of Fidelity Drive in College Station, Texas.

This saddens me, the violence is just getting worse every day.

That is what the LSM wants to portray. Don't despair, please. Look deeper at each story, as Ken in Montana above has done.

Remember for a few years it was all climate stories (to support their whacko global-warming theories and power grab of the air (carbon credits being sold?! preposterous1) and now it is guns, guns, and more guns in the news, as much as they can dig out of the wire services.

I say gun violence has gone on and still happens, as do other forms of violence, on a daily basis. It seems to me that the LSM is now on another of their campaigns to show guns are bad, just as they were highlighting SUV's a few years ago to vilify the large car in general.

I think there have been gun shooting incidents of news (maybe not to this scale!!) but that the liberal news media has been pumping gun violence stories, just as they did climate stories only a couple of years ago. Their idea is likely to make a case for anti-gun legislation. Just saying.

Legislation, treaties, regulation, etc. etc............... This will likely continue through this year, or until the RINOs cave on new legislation. The senate is supposed to vote on the small arms treaty this fall, so it might end after they ratify the treaty.

My concern is, also, that we may see more "agent provocateur" type incidents from government before it is all over.

I knew this was going to be a tough year.

Thanks for the class warfare, Obama!

I imagine the quaint old media will be talking about white vans carrying gun totin' Tea Party extremists adorned with swastika tattoos and anti-gay t-shirts as being the affiliations of the buy in custody.

"An employee with Brazos County told KENS 5's sister station WFAA.com that the shooting occurred as an eviction notice was being served."

It sounds like the guy just freaked out at being evicted.

When is ABC gonna say he was a Tea Party guy? What the hell is taking them so long?

Hope there are no fatalities..

What the hell is wrong with people?

Oh , I see there were fatalities.. damn what is wrong with these people...

Police constable, civilian killed as gunman opens fire near Texas A&M

KBTX-TV

Police stand ready Monday near the Texas A&M University campus in College station.

By M. Alex Johnson, NBC News

Updated at 3:46 p.m. ET: A police constable and a civilian were killed when a gunman opened fire Monday near the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station.

Brian Bachmann, 41, the elected constable for Precinct 1 in Brazos County, was fatally injured, Assistant College Station Police Chief Scott McCollum told reporters. An unidentified civilian was pronounced dead and three other people were injured, not all of them by gunfire, he said.

Bachmann had been a Brazos County sheriff's deputy since 1993, according to the Facebook page for his 2010 constable's campaign.

The gunman was injured in a gunbattle with police, McCollum said.

Any guess as to what the gunman's politics are? I bet he ain't a Tea Partier. I sometimes wonder if the crazies on the left aren't letting loose their demonic followers to do the dirty work of Van Jones & Co.

Let the Left's screaming begin, once again, to denounce guns as the problem while ignoring the behavior of the individual. Since the Dems have made same-sex marriage part of their platform in 2012, we need to monitor them to see if repealing the second amendment is also part of their platform.

Since cars are responsible for significantly more deaths than guns, we will soon be on bicycles (made in China) or using Public Transportation... Ahhh, now I get it!

Anyone taking bets on where the gunman is from?

GaltLine

Don't know where he is from. But if he's white it's terrorism. If he's anything else it's Bush's fault.

He's either a hateful, rich, white boy, or hails from somewhere in Allahville. We can definitely rule out that he is a Tea Partier.

Do you think it was a fast and furious weapon

Might be, but I am more confident that the shooter is a democrat voter or, also known as an illegal immigrant.

I'll add in there a non-affiliated voter. At least, that's how a democrat voter will be announced in the news... Right after we have to prove, yet again, that he's not a tea partier.

We'll see. It doesn't much matter, either way. It is a shame these disfunctional shooters don't first shoot themselves. They'd save tons of money and heart ache.

I'd bet your right (about the democrat)....A&M is highly conservative. Have two daughters there. Nah on the illegal though.
