NASA releases amazing new footage of final shuttle launch

Stunning video here from NASA’s final shuttle launch last Friday, obtained from the cameras that were mounted on the rocket boosters. I can’t really do this justice by attempting to describe it. All I can say is it does give you a sense of how incredibly fast the shuttle must accelerate to get into orbit, as you can see how quickly the Earth fades into the background.

The latter part of the video is the boosters splashing down into the Atlantic Ocean.

Sadly, we won’t be seeing any more of this for the foreseeable future, as Barack Obama has for some strange reason decided to assign NASA a new mission completely unrelated to space exploration.
