NBC journalist and chief foreign correspondent Richard Engle was kidnapped, along with his colleagues, by Syrian loyalists and psychologically tortured and held for a week inside Syria. In fact they were on their way to a Hezbollah stronghold in Syria in order to be traded for a few Iranian prisoners when they encountered an unknown rebel checkpoint. A firefight ensued and they were rescued by rebel forces and are now safely in Turkey.

They were on the Today Show this morning to tell their story:

If you can’t see the video, then read this compelling report by Fox News on their story.

NBC got a much needed ratings bump. This was all a scam, like the editing of the Trevon Martin tapes.

I think that ALL of CBS - NBC and ABC

should GO TO SYRIA and protest this kidnapping

That would get them out of our hair for a while

Wait a sec. He thanks NBC for all they've done including keeping the story secret. Was this real or a publicity stunt? Why did the kidnappers not milk this? Wouldn't this be good for them if they are trying to free their guys? It would certainly be an embarrassment to the US, I would think.

Something about this is odd.

He was going to a Hizbullah stronghold to meet whom? He claims he was going through rebel (FSA) territory. Doesn't he know which side Hizbullah is on? The Hizzies are Iranian they're on the side of al-Assad. The FSA is Sunni, they're on the FSA side along with AQ and every other cult of death Sunni jihadist movement in Syria.

This guy is an idiot.

They probably dumped him after they found out he was from NBC. The must have thought there was no advantage in holding anyone from a lousy network like that.

no, they realized there was no point holding one of their own..

Escape story sounds a bit too good to be true.

If its too good to be true, its not quite believable.

Don't really explain just what they were doing is Syria in the first place.

Why would they kidnap them, they don't work for Fox News.

;-) ;-)

I thought the rest of the 'media' was willing to 'reason' with these 7th century heathens.

Leftists love nothing better than making themselves the story...

They should have kept the like minded NBC "reporters". They pretty much work for them anyway

Despite not being a fan of Mr. Engle or his pro Arab reporting, I'm glad he is safe. His return must have been a wonderful Christmas gift to his family and loved ones.

???

Really? The morning after the story allegedly 'leaked' by someone the victims are just 'rescued' unharmed by Syrian 'rebels', eh?

Yeah, you'll have to pardon me if I suggest this may've all been manufactured.

See my comment above. This feels like the failed Benghazi kidnapping to me repeated with a different ending. The press will be forever licking his boots and will STOP asking those tough questions now.

Though I am glad they are safe, I must agree with E.Lee & Orange....it just seems so convenient...

Notice like true Liberals they found "That Happy Spot" to survive their ordeal....

My "Happy spot" is to think of O'Blamo being IMPEACHED for Benghazi, not to mention the hundreds of other messes he caused.....

Some are saying Syria is a key part of Obama's plans to promote the establishment of a global Islamic Caliphate and destroy Israel, UK and the USA.

In two or three sentences, here is a graphic description of what is going on right now:

"The Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah's militias out of Lebanon are shooting at Al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood militias from across the Middle East and even Europe in one of those unique displays of family entertainment that you wish would go on forever, but that won't, because despite the Hasish-fed bravado, supplemented with meth from Iran's top laboratories, the whole shooting match only as long as it takes the side with the weakest bladders to run away, and then both sides brag about their great victory on YouTube and Facebook."

[...]

"There are Sunni and Shiite militia members from neighboring Lebanon and Syria. There are Pakistanis fresh from Waziristan and Libyans looking for a good brawl. There are Scud missiles and chemical weapons and broken buildings, torn corpses and roads full of refugees fleeing for their lives. There are tanks and jets and fleets. There are armies and militias, truckloads of weapons and bodies, fire behind them and death ahead of them. And they're all hurrying, running and racing to Damascus.

And then the real killing will begin."

Of course, the media will sanitize it or rather, insanitize it.

Just like in Libya, the rebels will be your friends until they don't need you as friends anymore. Besides, they interrupted an operation and killed Syrian Regime forces. That's their only goal right now.
