Sounds like Netanyahu is making the case for military action against Iran and is prepared to give Obama the finger should he object:

JERUSALEM POST – Saying publicly in the Knesset what he only said privately to Congressional leaders in Washington last week, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Wednesday stressed Israel would act to defend itself even if the US objected.

Israel has never left its fate in the hands of others, not even in the hands of our best friends,” he said in a speech that focused on the Iranian threat and drew a direct line from Tehran to the events earlier this week in Gaza. He also blamed the 2005 disengagement from the Gaza Strip for leading to Iran’s establishment of a “forward” terrorist base there.

Netanyahu cited legendary US Secretary of State George Marshall as telling David Ben-Gurion in 1948 not to declare a state, and reminded the Knesset that US President Lyndon Johnson not only advised Israel against preemptive military action in 1967, but warned that “if you act alone, you will be alone.” Likewise, he said Prime Minister Menachem Begin knew when he decided to attack the Iraqi nuclear reactor in 1981 that he was going against US wishes and would come under sharp international criticism. “But he fulfilled his obligation and acted,” said Netanyahu, possibly preparing the public for the prospect of Israeli military action even over US objections.

Netanyahu said that a nuclear Iran would pose an “existential threat” to Israel, and that while he preferred if Iran would voluntarily abandon its nuclear ambitions, he had an “obligation” to retain Israel’s “independent ability” to defend itself.

After five days of fighting in the South that replaced Iran as the major issue on the country’s agenda for a short while, Netanyahu’s speech put the attention back on Israel’s Iranian dilemma.

Netanyahu scoffed at those who argued that an accord with the Palestinians would solve the Iranian problem. “As if an agreement with Abu Mazen [PA President Mahmoud Abbas] would stop the [Iranian] centrifuges,” he said. “Anyone who wants to believe that may do so, but he is burying his head in the sand.” What Netanyahu did not say was that US President Barack Obama linked the Palestinian issue to Iran in the early days of his presidency, something that created tension between Washington and Jerusalem. Now, however, the Administration has divorced the two issues.

“The dominant element driving the events in Gaza is not the Palestinian issue,” he said. “The dominant element driving the events in Gaza is Iran. Gaza is Iran.”

Netanyahu said that Gaza’s missiles, money, terrorist training, and terrorist infrastructure all comes from Iran. “Who is giving the orders?” he asked. “Iran. Gaza is Iran’s forward position.” Netanyahu said that Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah in Lebanon all worked under Iran’s umbrella. “Now imagine if that umbrella turns nuclear? Imagine that behind the terrorist organizations is a state calling for our destruction that is armed with a nuclear bomb.”

Netanyahu declared that he was not willing to live with that scenario, and that “every responsible leader understands that it is forbidden to let that happen.”

The Prime Minister, referring to Opposition Leader Tzipi Livni’s comments that he is sowing panic, said those same words were hurled at him in 2005 when he predicted that as a result of the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip missiles would be fired from there onto Beersheba, Ashkelon and Ashdod.

“They said then we were sowing panic,” he said. “They said the unilateral withdrawal would bring a breakthrough on the road to peace. Nu, what breakthrough? What road? What peace?” Netanyahu said that every time Israel left territory, Iran moved in. “We left Lebanon, Iran came in. We left Gaza, Iran came in. There are those suggesting we do the same thing in Judea and Samaria,” he declared. “Iran would go in there as well. I don’t believe there is anyone who doesn’t understand that it is forbidden to repeat the same mistake a third time.”

Israel’s enemies, he stated, needed to understand that in the final analysis Israel would not suffer an Iranian base in Gaza. Sooner or latter,” he said, “the Iranian terrorist base in Gaza will be uprooted.”

UPDATE - "After five days of non-stop missile fire on a dozen towns and villages, Israel Thursday night, March 15, gave Egypt and Hamas two days to halt the shooting or else the Israeli Defense Forces would go into action against Gaza." ... "Monday, March 12, Mahmoud A-Zahar was in Cairo to wind up Gaza ceasefire terms with Egyptian officials when, to their astonishment, instead of returning to Gaza, he boarded a plane to Tehran. He is still there.

And so, while the Egyptians try and reach some sort of accommodation with Hamas for a truce, Hamas itself is in close communion with the Iranians, who want to see the Israeli military stuck in a messy a showdown with the Palestinian Salafis."

So - Gaza will be demilitarized first and soon as Netanyahu warned on January 16.

Israel is not entirely dependent on the US for munitions and technology contributions. They have created a very nice little mid-weight bunker buster bomb that will could make the re-fueling issue moot.

http://www.debka.com/article/21823/

We may expect that they will have some other effective and powerful surprises for Iran, Hezbollah, MBros, et al.

Look at this map - Do you see a Shofar? http://www.sitesatlas.com/Maps/Maps/MEast.htm.

Israel, this is yours, take this Shofar, demilitarize and hold it to the glory of GOD.

Netenyahu has every right to defend itself whether Obama likes it or not. I want to ask therightscoop a question. Do you know what Agenda 21 is about. I did not know what Agenda 21 was until I received an email from a group and a video was in the email. It was started by the UN and implemented in the U.S. by George Bush. I do not know which George Bush. But it is a very bad thing because the would cause the redistribution of money in this country supposedly for the environmental cause. This is the link please check out this link and what it says. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVMwrTyX-bk&list=UUO5UXRc8LWgoHd1gZF8ZFLg&index=9&feature=plcp

So glad to hear Israel stand up and say "We will defend ourselves with or without your help." Who are we to determine what they should do to ensure their own survival?

Existential threat to Isael? With those missiles the ayatollas are getting, they'll be an existential threat to The Great Satan, too. That's us for those of you in Rio Linda. Of course, if Accchhhmadinejad nuked New York, it would be the perfect excuse for Oafbama to declare marshall law and himself king for life.

Obama told Netanyahu that if he waited until after the election he would give him assistance. I'm afraid that if Israel waits, Obama will give them the finger because he already got his end of the bargain.

If Israel is going to attack, I think it should be done well before the elections. Obama will be in a bind. He has been screwing Israel behind the scenes with the U.N. and doing lip service to the public saying he supports them....which we all know is bullcrap. Obama will either have to help them if he wants to get re-elected or else he will sit on his hands and get thrown out of office in November. I really don't think Obama has any intentions of helping them, and at least if the moment came before the election the public would see him for what he is.

I hope Israel bombs the hell out of Iran's Nuclear facilities and the homes of all those radical leaders too! It's long overdue. Iran gets more bold with each passing day and with each empty UN sanction. Sanctions are a complete joke, Iran is getting all the supplies it needs from it's allies Russia, China and many others. It's time to put the smackdown on them. Much like empty threats to that spoiled child that needs an azz woopin, time has come to pay the piper!

kong1967

They need our help, and if Obama doesn't help them then it will be front and center which side he is on....radical Islam's or the western world. If they strike and they do not succeed, there will be hell to pay with the nukes. God please help them succeed !!

Whenever I hear Netanyahu speak, I get that same sense of respect that I used to get listening to Reagan speak. It's that feeling that comes from knowing you are hearing intellectual honesty and dealing with someone who truly loves his country and his people, even above himself. I always believed that of Reagan, and I also see those same qualities in Netanyahu. Strong and steadfast men - leaders. Despite all the chatter of the wizards of smart following this political situation, i believe Netanyahu has done the fan dance for Obama to appease him, However, the war is coming, and it will be on Israel's terms and at a time of their choosing. He is not going to put the future of his people into the hands of America's pathetic leader. Netanyahu knows the game. He's just waiting for the right time to play it.

Gaza will be abandoned and Ashkelon left in ruins. At midday Ashdod will be emptied and Ekron uprooted. 5 Woe to you who live by the sea, O Kerethite people; the word of the LORD is against you, O Canaan, land of the Philistines. "I will destroy you, and none will be left." 6 The land by the sea, where the Kerethites dwell, will be a place for shepherds and sheep pens. 7 It will belong to the remnant of the house of Judah; there they will find pasture. In the evening they will lie down in the houses of Ashkelon. The LORD their God will care for them; he will restore their fortunes. Zephaniah 2: 4-7

Yes, we do pray for your people, Sara. Isn't it funny how it seems that the conservatives and dreaded "right winger" Christians in this country are the very people who most support Israel and the Jews? All of the bluster about how much the liberals care... and yet, we are the ones who really do. Anyhow, rest easy, my friend. Somehow, this will come to a positive end. It's already been foretold, yes?

The US has never joined Israel in defending her land and people.

We have given arms and aid to Israel, but we have also done the same for Israel's enemies.

We have gotten involved in Iran (installing the Shah), Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Egypt and now talking about Syria.

What the HECK is wrong with this picture? PLENTY.

Jimmy Carter was and is being still being duped by Islamists. But, even the Catholic church has also been duped by them. (see CCC#841)

Why, if we have our own resources, do we continue to bother with sleazy Islam liars and dictatorial crooks like Chavez? Because of money given to our leaders to buy from their countries. Because of oil and drugs as well as the oil.

I will be watching for our politicians to use this as an excuse to go in sooner, rather than later. They will argue the need for the US to do it, rather than Israel. As the pressure is put on Obama by both sides of the isle, he will cave in and go to war, which is likely what he wanted anyway, but it gives him left cover politically.

Nukeman60
Nukeman60

They had to drag him, kicking and screaming, off the golf course in the pretense of being in charge of killing Osama Bin Laden. I seriously doubt that he wants to go into Iran.

I would believe he attacks Israel long before he would sucker punch his Iranian buds.

librtifirst

I think that most of what the White House, and the legislative branch, does, is conspiracy. I don't believe that the president is autonomous in his decision making. I think that they present us with theatrical presentations to create an emotional response, which causes us to solidify our belief in the information presented. After they get us believing whatever it is, they can then do whatever they wanted to do from the beginning.

If Obama wanted war with Iran, for whatever reason, he could start out by making it look like he was favorable to Islamic ideologies, or just their leaders. Then he could snub Israel's president. This ticks off a lot of Americans, and cause them to think that he is against Israel. Mostly, it is just the conservatives who respond emotionally, causing them to believe that he is weak, or anti war. This way, when he does invade or attack someone, he is praised by conservatives, and the liberal media keeps their mouths shut. Conservatives complain about him doing it without congressional approval, but never bring charges, or do much of anything about it. This is cover from the right establishment.

As the media ramps up the rhetoric on Iran, and conservatives sell Iran as an imminent threat to us and Israel, Israel's prime minister comes here and Obama acts in solidarity with him, which is a switch from before, but pleases conservatives. Then the prime minister makes public comments about Israel defending themselves without permission from the US. Most of America agrees with this, especially the religious right. Then the media makes the case for the US going in before Israel, so that Israel does not compromise their own security and cause a world war. Obama gets approval from the UN for an Iranian invasion, and we go to war. The congress may be petitioned, but has the political capital to approve it.

Obama gets his war. He was put in office by the corporations that will benefit from the wars, including the central banks who take over the conquered nation's finances. Iraq was a target for many years before 9/11. I called Syria many months ago. They were simply on the list. I didn't know about Libya, but it makes total sense from the perspective of bankers and oil.

People talk about middle eastern countries having puppet leaders. They refuse to believe that we have one. More than one.

librtifirst
librtifirst

I'll make a prediction now. Obama will go to war in Iran, either before Israel, or directly after an Israeli attack. It may just be a coordinated attack. Iran will lose control of their oil, and finances, just like Iraq, Libya, and others have.

librtifirst
librtifirst

No doubt that he will go to war, or not go to war for political reasons. I just don't believe that he subscribes to any particular ideology. One day he is against Israel, the next day he is for them. One day he is for Islamic countries, the next he is attacking them. No doubt that he will work it all in favor of re-election.

I have seen too may globalism experts get this stuff right for too long to ignore it anymore. The proof is in the pudding. Global corporate interests simply got him elected, and tell him what to do. Obama Care was not ideologically driven. It was written before he took office.

Nukeman60
Nukeman60

I think you give Obama way too much credit. Simply put, he hates geat Britain, because of his father. He hates Israel, because he's pro Islam. And he cares only for his re-election, whereby he will only do what he thinks the polls will reflect positively on him.

Poor Hamas. They're trying to aline themselves with the Ikwan and stearing away from Iran. But Islamic Jihad keeps taking their orders from Iran. Tsk, tsk. Can't be putting that new Olympic pool of theirs at risk...or that fancy schmanzy "Roots Club" at risk. Not to mention that the food stands are chock full of...dare I say it...Israeli veggies and fruit. The stupid Barbarians trashed all the Israeli greenhouses when they took over and are inept at doing anything but terrorizing Jews and other untermench (in their view).

Killing Jihadis is in my view, doing the Lord's work. Israel has every right to survive. If that means that they need to flip Obama and the UN off, so be it.

Absolutely! I believe this is why we're seeing such a fight in the primary. It is written in Isaiah 59:19 "when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against Him". So He is, and it is we, the Body of Christ, who are being raised up to stand against the evil in our day. I am prayerfully seeking the Lord as to His will and desire for my life in these times and know the victory has already been won through our Lord Jesus Christ.
