As undoubtedly effective as this ad will be, I just can't stomach the whole marxist rhetoric of there being such a thing as a "middle class", and I can't stomach how the Republican nominee is out there constantly harping on about the "middle class this, middle class that", ughh!!
This isn't Conservatism, because this isn't Individualism. This Marxist rhetoric about "classes" is a dangerous Collectivist poison that Romney has accepted. How can he ever articulate the message of Individualism when he has been constantly articulating the message of Collectivism? Yet Individualism is so darned important to articulating Conservatism's principles of limited government, unalienable individual rights, capitalism and free trade on a free market.
Romney basically needs to understand the following: Capitalism and Collectivism are INCOMPATIBLE.
Listen and learn about the dangers of Collectivism from its most insidious advocate - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppgg_vF3Z-0#t=02m35s
Totally agree with what the ad says but the delivery voice and the background music made it all seem mundane and "no big deal", needs some urgency
When and where do these ads play????? I have seen maybe one political ad in the last month. Am I watching TV at the wrong time, or am I watching the wrong channels? Whatever...I just hope Romney gets his message loud and clear to the American public. It would be shame on 7 November for his campaign team to realize they did some major things wrong...it'll be too late then. Due diligence now we need Romney/Ryan in the White House....no more obama, please!!!!
Good Ad! I'm sure by now the swing states are pretty sick of the TV Ads but I hope they are resonating! In January, taxes for Obamacare will kick in, the payroll cuts will expire, as will the Bush tax cuts. We are looking at a huge tax increase for mostly the middle-class and the current economic status will only get worse because of it. I'm very certain Romney/Ryan are aware of it. I'm hoping this team will, if elected, not only help to curtail this disaster of tax increases but will also include in a budget (yes a budget!) spending cuts to help fray the ever-increasing federal deficit. Yes, this is what I'm a very hopeful for. And this is what people should be asking: Are you happy with the last four years of an Obama administration? If not, vote Romney/Ryan!
I think now that the Supreme Court has determined that Obamacare is essentially a HUGE tax, and NOT a mandate, Romney should hit Obama with this over and over again. It is going to be a huge tax increase and it will hit young people just entering the work force especially hard. I'll bet most young people getting out of college don't even know or realize this. Somebody needs to explain to these kids that there is no such thing as a free ride and that they're about to get stuck with the bill for Obamacare.
No he does not. You want the Jugular because you are a Conservative....you think attack attack and attack...BS...people here keep thinking he should run ads to MAKE YOU HAPPY..WRONG!! He needs to run ads that tell people what his plan is and how he will make their lives better. Conservatives hate Obama which I understand but your attack ads will not work like that in a General Election.
I get so sick of this crap...he did it in the primaries. YOU CAN DO THAT in the primaries because the conservatives like the hard hitting. However, Obama has run 100s of millions of dollars in attack ads and he is essentially tied.
This ad is good because it focuses on the Middle Class....Attack ad boy that made me feel so great...BUT IT DOES NOT GET PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR YOU!! People here want Romney to make this about Obama only and that is a mistake. It needs to show Obama's failures and what Mitt WILL DO for a better America.
You must give people a reason to vote for you besides OBAMA IS HORRIBLE! What a slogan!
No...Mitt's Middle Class ad last week that was over a minute long talking directly into the camera....many people here thought it was weak and unconvincing.
Well head over the Daily Caller and you will find FEMALE SWING VOTERS loved the ad and many said it gave them reason to look at Mitt and consider voting for him....Many here did not like the ad...BUT IT WORKED ON THE TARGETED AUDIENCE!
Superpacs ARE RUNNING ATTACK ads against Obama. Some are very good.
I like Obama exposed yes...but I like the approach where Mitt talks about HIS PLANS and how they will help Americans....I also like the Superpacs running ads that balance and attack Obama...
Many of those ads TRS never shows here. He shows the Romney ads but only occasionally the Superpac ads. The Crossroads ad yesterday was fantastic!
This ad focusing on the Middle Class and Obamacare is SMART!
Mitt's biggest problem to people is being defined as out of touch with the middle class.
The Superpacs are attacking Obama...here in Orlando I see it all the time. Again depending where you live is going to decide what you see.
TRS shows you just samples...there are many more ads out there.
Many of those ads TRS never shows here
Michael, maybe it might be a worthy endeavour, to post them here as well, with a synopsis of where the ads aired. Maybe some kindly souls can pass them on to Scoop when they catch them.
Being from Canada, I seldom watch US TV, (or Canadian Mainstream broadcasts for that matter) even though we have cable. Yet we do get a synopsis every evening at 6pm of the US campaign ads on SUN News. But what I see from my limited view, I'm certainly not impressed.
And while I take what you are saying about selling the product, it is not unreasonable to show the inherent weaknesses of the opponent in all his subversive glory.
Team Romney should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. Even though the SuperPacs do the heavy lifting on the putative "negative ads"... I don't think truth telling has to be classified as negative at all. You may cringe at "negative ads", but they are a necessary part of the whole. Sun News' Brian Lilley recommended that Romney take a page out of Canadian Prime Minister Harper's ad book... by defining the opponent and hammering away at that message. Harper did that brilliantly against two Liberal Party opponents... one a Liberal Party Green squish, and the other a Harvard snob. But I will admit, Harper was the incumbent... and it's too late for Team Romney to do that now. I just hope he does not pay for it at election time.
As for your criticism of conservatives going for the jugular... just whose side are you on? (I'm just being rhetorical here) It's war. And from where I sit... conservatives should want to win... something McCain's team refused to grasp... and something Team Romney looks like they could be repeating. You don't have to play dirty... just play truthfully... and there is a lot of truth Team Romney can use as ammunition against Obama... plenty!
My comment reflects the fact that Romney isn't attacking Obama as he should. Barry is a target-rich environment... easy pickings for nearly anyone who goes after him. So far, Mitt doesn't seem to be really pouncing on Obama.
And to your point... I've know many nice guys who came in first... point taken.
This ad... hoe hum... and how many weeks are left before he REALLY ramps up his campaign.
Conservatives will be dragging Mitt over the finish line... hopefully ahead of Zero. It certainly will NOT be Romney's doing.
Oh.. and from the ad... Mitt Romney will "close loopholes for millionaires"
What! Facepalm...http://images.travelpod.com/users/thekraftscapas/1.1291571730.elephant-face-palm.jpg
Unfortunately, Mitt Romney, like Barack Obama, supports the current fiat monetary system, which insidiously transfers wealth from the bottom to the top through the hidden tax of currency debasement.
In other words, Mitt Romney, like Barack Obama, will continue to raise taxes on the middle class. Neither has the guts to raise taxes directly to pay for the spending they authorize, because they know they will be booted out of office (or never elected in the first place).
Explain "directly", I call it less purchasing power and lower take home pay! Maybe the USA should cut ALL the welfare benefits by taxing them just like Clinton did to Social Security benefits.
Directly as in through the tax code. No borrowing and printing to make up the difference. They (Republicans and Democrats) will never do it, because tax rates would have to be absurdly high to possibly cover the insane levels of spending they authorize.
If it wasn't for this website, I'd never get to see Romney ads. Living in MA, Romney seems to have forgotten us! On TV, I see Tons of NObama ads, a few Scott Brown ads, and many Fake Indian ads, but I think I could count the amount of pro Romney ads I've seen on TV in the last month on one hand. And I don't have a freakish amount of fingers if you get me.
The RNC and others keep making GREAT ads, but unless they play them on TV, they reserve them for the choir on great websites like this. Why bother making them at all??
Why advertise in a state that has zero chance of going for Romney? Use the money where it will make a difference...like in the swing states where he needs to win.
It's not a personal thing, it's strategy.
If Brown is up by 6 over the Warren, then the GOP must believe in a split Ticket. IMO, how can anybody want the double LIAR Ticket?
Wolfie...you will see none in MA...Romney and the GOP is no going to put money in a state that offers no chance of winning. I know it is frustrating. Here in Florida I see them night and day....and I turn off the TV because it is becoming mind numbing. In Orlando whether on TV or Radio the ads are on. Some of the Superpacs ads are great....the Romney ad from last weak where he spoke into the camera talking about his plan vs Obama's....alot of people in here DID NOT LIKE....yet the AD is playing very well with FEMALE SWING VOTERS according to reports. It goes to show you many of us do not like a certain AD but many of those play well with different groups...Go Figure...LOL!
The Crossroads ad yesterday was my favorite...I hope that goes on TV..that was fantastic!
But here on radio...the other day I noticed Romney and Superpacs were ad during Rush's show...NOW they are hitting the RADIO on the FM music stations. I worked out yesterday morning and every 15 minutes Romney was on the Radio with ads....so were the Superpacs....and these were your Adult Listening FM Stations and Light Rock....so they have expanded the ADS big time.
It is like Radio has become a big tool here in Central Florida for Romney...but it makes sense because people love music and talk radio. With the TV people change channels all the time....with Radio or Music when you are working out or driving you get in grove and tend to stay with Station you really like.
But it was great hearing Mitt on the FM Stations yesterday and they were slamming Obama....the ads are longer than TV as well....Could be little cheaper but they are longer and more biting then the TV ads...over 1 minute long...
So Wolfie they are advertising...come here to Orlando and you will see and hear IT ALL!! Yes there are Obama ads on TV here and Romney Ads as well on TV...
I know how frustrating it must be when you live in a State where you see and hear nothing...but the cost to either campaign is massive....
Check AmericansforProsperity website...they were outside a city in Michigan yesterday with their $1.84 gas tour (the price when Obama entered office) and the cars were lined up for hours....LOL!! That is advertising....they have a BIG BUS with OBAMAS FAILING AGENDA on the side. Now some people will just want the cheap gas....but even if 5-10 percent of those drivers think about how expensive things have become under Obama and how bad and maybe Obama needs to go....then it is a success!!
Thanks for all that info on Florida! I just hope it works. Every other day I hear a poll that says Florida is now leaning Obama and then I hear that Florida is a toss up, last week I hear that Florida leans Romney. I wish the polls could be trusted a bit more so we could actually tell where the heck Florida (and other swing and not so swing states) actually stood.
Wolfie....here is how Florida works...Win Central Florida (TAMPA/ORLANDO/DAYTONA) you win the state. The way to win here is through the Central Florida Corridor. The Northeasterns so heavily flooded Southeast Florida that it is Liberal to the core. Now Obama is not doing as well with the Jewish Voter...he is down about 7-8 percent with the Jewish Vote. The Jewish Vote is big in Southeast Florida (WEST PALM/FORT LAUDERDALE/MIAMI).
The Key here is to win Central Florida which offsets the Southeast. That is why here in Orlando we are bombarded with ads.
People here want Mitt to attack....Here is how the ads come out on radio....and remember it is now on the FM stations big time:
Romney runs ad telling how he will help Americans...lower taxes, better jobs, stronger military, repealing Obamacare and American Values...
RIGHT AFTER: AmericansforProsperity runs an ATTACK AD..slamming Obama over DEBT, JOBS, OBAMACARE, ENERGY, FOREIGN POLICY and MORE....
The ads run one after the other....it is like a balanced approach...Mitt appeals to the Voter....Superpac SLAMS OBAMA...like many here want...
I know many are no hearing this in other parts of the country...but yesterday alone when I was working out...no less than 6 times did I head the Mitt Ad directly followed by the AmericansforProsperity Ad attacking Obama...it was a ONE/TWO PUNCH...now they just started yesterday from what I heard....and again this was on the FM STATION....
So it is happening....in Florida alone Dem Registration is DOWN 5-6 percent...Repubs are UP! Remember many of those polls are using a PLUS 9-10 DEM SAMPLE in FLORIDA and Obama won here by barely DEM 3 in 2008. What other pollsters are doing are keeping youth vote at 18 percent (no way in 2012) and they are keeping the black vote at 14 percent (no way in 2012) and they are DELIBERATELY oversampling females to males, especially single females. In fact, they are cutting the number of Seniors voting....which I can tell you the Seniors are ready to vote!
So remember even if you see a Dem Plus 3 sample....remember they are keeping the youth vote much higher, the black vote much higher and the single female vote much higher...all three groups that favor Obama...they hide them in the Independents!! (REALLY DEMS).
It should say Obama broke if 2008 promise to not raise taxes, also call them Liberal Progressives, not Liberals. There is a difference.
