This is a fantastic interview with Newt where they spend a lot of time talking about Afghanistan and what he would do differently than Obama. They also talk about Newt winning Georgia, which he says is pretty paramount for his campaign

Hey Scoop, thanks for posting this!

    • FreeManWalking

      Dittos SCOOP…

Clear strong decisive answers to every question, No stammering, straight talk.

Does Romney Lie, do you find bear SCAT in the woods?

His campaign method of trying to destroy the other candidates with negative ads instead of giving me a reason to vote for him, is the main reason I have NO respect for this man.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jeremy-Poncy/1339730989 Jeremy Poncy

Santorum and Gingrich better hurry up and strike a deal. They are splitting the non-Romney vote. If they don’t strike a deal after super Tuesday Romney will be our candidate and that is depressing. If you love your country so much strike a deal with Santorum, settle for a VP or Secretary of State position and bury Romney.

        • sandynsavannah

The weaker candidate, Santorum, should take the secondary roll.

        • FreeManWalking

Jeremy, It sounds to me that in your world,

The children would raise the Parents.

          The students instruct the Teachers.

The apprentice shows his skills to the Journeyman.
          and
          The corporals lead the Generals?

At such a time as this, when the Nation is at risk of disintegrating we can’t afford to take a chance that an apprentice will have a plan and might make the right decisions to turn us around.

Newt has a Strategy to turn the socialism of 0b0 around and the Tactical expertize to implement his plan. Newt has the Stars on his collar, because he has lead and helped design national campaigns that have won. One of those brought Santorum into the Senate.

Thanks Scoop! After this horrid day of emotions it was so wonderful to see this up.

  • GraceKnows

Thank you, thank you, Scoop! I loved this interview. Really appreciate it whenever you put up a good Newt clip!

  • 911Infidel

Newt will win Ga, but that will be his last hurrah. His kind of common-sense solutions for America will need to be taken up by whomever the party picks as their nominee. I would hope that that nominee would pull Newt into his administration and tap into his excellent grasp of the real world.

    • nibblesyble

I don’t think so! He will prevail full stop and be the next Prez~!

      • 911Infidel

I got a steak dinner and a good, cold German beer that says he won’t.

        • nibblesyble

You’re on! er-could I have a nice merlot instead of the beer please? BTW I like my steak med. rare..just in case you are cooking.

          • 911Infidel

Its a deal. Merlot and a med. rare steak it is.

            • nibblesyble

              Great!

    • Trust1TG

The real conservatives have a plan.

      • 911Infidel

Who would they be? Since I don’t see a whole lot of them on the “B” team. The “A” team different story.

        • 3seven77

Who’s the “A” team? Santorum, the guy who is dropping in the polls?

          • 911Infidel

Well it sure ain’t that grumpy old former flight surgeon. I’m refering to West and Rubio.

    • http://twitter.com/PoeAllen Allen Poe

We have a failure to communicate. If another candidate wins, Newt will be carefully avoided, just like Sarah. If Mitt is elected, every Obama program will procede. Santorium, will make fine speaches, and accomplish nothing. The war will go on. The Muslims will win more victories. The media will applaud. And, the next POTUS will be black skinned, and anti US. The majority of the USA will be happy. And, the militia will grow.

      • 911Infidel

An empty tuna can is a better alternative to Obama as far as I’m concerned. On top of that I see Repubikans keeping the House and taking the Senate. The race is between two people, either of which will do way better than the swarmy self-important twit that currently occupies the WH.

        • JRD1

Just what we need RINO Central Willardcare, The Crybaby Boehner, and Murkowski’s buddy McConnell! Throw them all out. They can’t even let us keep our light bulbs. RINOs stink on ice! RINOs mean socialized medicine is here to stay, we get Cap and Trade, and Supremes like David Souter who vote with the oppressives for the next 50 years.

America still has a conservative majority no matter how the RINOs try to spin it.

            YOU SAID IT, JRD1!

Thanks for laying it all out.

            We don’t need another Obama.

Romney lied non-stop throughout the debates

Romney governed left of Ted Kennedy,

Romney backed down to every radical agenda group.

Romney forced church institutions to violate their conscience in abortion, contraception and adoption.

Romney forged, forced and enforced miserable Romney care that has ruined MA.

Romney taxed corporations and put MA at the bottom in job and business growth.

Romney is the king of huge bail-outs for his business, state, healthcare plan and the SLC olympics.

Romney is second only to Obama in appropriating taxpayer money for his own projects and priorities.

NO – NO – NO…a thousand times NO.

Romney can’t debate Obama. He would stammer, stutter, sink.

Romney would only implement and cement Obama’s ruinous socialism, liberalism and centralized control of everything.

    • cabensg

Taken up as talking points for sure the others have already done that. Getting anything actually done is another question. That’s why I support Newt. He’ll get it done.

      • 911Infidel

I think Newt or Santorum will get ‘er done. I think Romney will turn the whole country into the state of Massahole.

I especially liked his answer about Afghanistan, he would give Karzai a chance by apologizing for killing our solders and help suppress the attacks or the USA would pull out and Karzai could kiss his @$$ good by.

    • wodiej

yep, I especially like that one too. I think we should pull out of all of these countries and stop foreign aid. Egypt finally released some Americans after paying a $300k bond each. No more military help, no more money-on your own. Maybe our troops could have some much deserved time in the states doing things like guarding the border while Newt has a fence constructed.

      • las1

I’m assuming you give a thumbs up to Newt’s support for Israel. Just to be clear.

        • FreeManWalking

I wodie, I would give 2 thumbs up to Newt’s complete Platform, Foreign, Domestic and inspire entrepreneurs to invest in a space program.

          • las1

Agreed… I’m kinda stunned that he’s being painted as “not conservative”.

  • REHLV

Notice the difference of the quality of the questions & answers in this interview compared to the Bill O interview with Santorum. It would be nice see all the candidates have to answer questions like this.

Right Scoop we all love you when you give our candidate face time.
    Thank You.

    • nibblesyble

Wasn’t it a blessing to see Newt here? I was getting anxious, glad I didn’t have to start pitching an unbecoming cyber fit where Scoop might have had to oust me!

    • cabensg

That’s because Greta is “A” number one when it comes to interviews. She asks all the relevant questions even the uncomfortable ones but without malice. She’s a class act and of course Newt’s a class act to. They make a great duo.

What I would like to see is the first press conference with the press corp where Gingrich as president would say, ” Welcome back guys, after a four year vacation I see your all rarin to go again.”

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ricardo-Galvan/100001729378103 Ricardo Galvan

Yes, Greta has always been fair with all the candidates. I remember her kind interviews and her RELEVANT questions when dealing with Herman Cain. That’s something that simply didn’t happen often.

  • sjmom

Not only is Newt the smartest guy in the room but he also has the courage to stand with friends and stand up to foes. Great interview and every time I hear him it only cements my support for him.

    • PVG

      Agreed.

  • Susanna958

They should all be looking at why Trump was so popular. He wasn’t afraid to go after Obama’s credentials.

    • JoeMontana16

Exactly right. Americans want the truth and they want it served up directly and succinctly. Unabashed. If the Republicans could get their head out of their asses they would see that. Call people out. Tell it like it is. Donald Trump and Chris Christie are two great examples. They don’t mince words and so they win. Americans love a truth telling feisty person for president. Ronald Reagan is another great example. The Guy would get on national TV and tell jokes about Gorbachev and communism. Hello!

  • http://twitter.com/PoeAllen Allen Poe

History repeating itself. Like Nixon, Newt is running a truth campaign, something just about all media hates. Nixon said he would stop Viet Nam, and the flow of drugs, into the USA. A miracle happened. Nixon won, and then did exactly what he said he would do. He was under attack by the media, from day one. Despite all the good things he did, among them, abolish the Mafia from the White house, He was accused of every evil. Finally after re elected twice, the media lies drove him from office, a very proud honest man. The same will happen to Newt, if he wins. Newt will stop the Muslim war, he will stop the open border, he will stop obama care, and will be vilified by the press. Newt knows this. He is willing to take the heat. Is the US ready to actually elect an honest patriot? We will see.

    • Been_There_BT

That’s not the reason the left had it in for Nixon. Their hatred for Nixon goes much further back to his exposure of Alger Hiss as a Commie and to his defeat of Helen Douglas.

Also, Nixon & Newt are completely different political types. They won’t destroy Newt when he wins, he’ll destroy them first.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez

I love how Newt put Steven Chu on notice! He chewed him up and spit him out.

  • grimjesse

    Go Newt….

  • Santa Gasparro

I sorry these republicans like Newt are pathetic , all they care about is money, he knows he won’t be the nominee, but still he calls Rommy derogatory names , criticizes other republicans worse then he criticizes Obama….. you never heard Democrats, like Clinton when she was neck in neck with Obama go after him personally in interviews, the democrat power brokers wouldn’t tolerate it, but Republicans are like stupid children with no leader willing to destroy their chances at winning the election and saving America, because you will not recognize this country if Obama wins another 4 years, besides how energized the left will be to have defeated republicans with over 8% unemployment , stagnate economy, massive high debt and unpopular polices.

    • 3seven77

What planet are you living on? You must have watched a different democrat primary than I did in 2008. There was plenty of nastiness between the dems, especially from Obama toward Hillary. Remember Bill Clinton talking about “fairy tales”? And this clip of Hillary mocking obama is a classic and great for a laugh:

    • JRD1

Duh, what about socialized Romneycare medicine?

    • las1

You still waiting for a like?

    • Trust1TG

What a perfect example of Liberalspeak! Romney and his team are so good at it.

Liberals talk in opposites and project their own character, feelings and fears onto their target. They lie because they do not hold to truth.

Romney lied eight times that have been documented in the last two debates…and shamelessly in his ads as well. His lies include his business and political record, even the Olympics which was bailed out at huge, unprecedented taxpayer expense (1.3 billion, plus over 300 million, equalling more than $625,000 per athlete). Bain, the state of MA and even Romneycare were underwritten by millions upon millions of US taxpayer dollars.

Here is Santa Gasparro’s comment translated into truth:
*Republicans like Newt are right, strong, true.
*Somehow, they value principle above principal. Unlike Romney who has no principle he has not abandoned for monetary principal or votes.
*Republican Tea Party conservatives value the principles laid out in the Constitution more than money and draining the treasury for their cronies like Obama is doing daily at an unprecedented and shameless rate. Unlike Romney who governed like a liberal, even left of Ted Kennedy.
      * Liberal power-brokers (Republican and Democrat) are tearing down every law, the moral and fiscal integrity and the military security and defense as fast as they can.
      * Liberals are like stupid children who only know how to destroy, not build up and prosper, except by stealing, controlling and bullying those who actually work and save. Romney’s ruthless business dealings show how little he cared for those who work for a living.
      * Liberals get their jollies from triumphant conquest – winning at all costs – through any possible means, deception, lies, coercion, violence and despite their records and past failures… then they continue their gleeful efforts to destroy, defraud, deceive and spread decadence, disease, and death.

*We have seen Romney in action during this campaign…besides his lies and mud-slinging, his operatives manipulations within the party in Iowa, MI and FL to make his paltry victories look bigger than they are and to make deals to get the most delegates even if it means lying and breaking the rules.

*The Republican party is losing credibility with Tea Party conservatives…and with the voters…who are paying attention.

      There you have it.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/EPNKCLUJ4F2PBVGOB7MU7O56ZA W.

Newt is simply telling the truth: that Romney is severely nonfactual.

Romney has proven that over and over.

(Newt) “criticizes other republicans worse then (sic) he criticizes Obama”

You are projecting here. Romney is the one who has to tear down others to build himself up…because he has no record of accomplishment that does not include being bailed out and has never been anything but a liberal.

Moreover, Romney is not getting nearly the number of votes he won in 2008.

      • BankGuy

Great post W. I can never figure out why Rombama can carpetbomb the rest of the candidates and if Rick or Newt challenge him, they project both as undisciplined and negative campaigners. The Dems have been saying lately that Romney has no core convictions and we have been saying it on this board for months. Romney = a GOP loss and I believe attacking him with facts is not only good politics but a moral obligation for Newt and Rick.

I tried to watch it. It up on Newt’s website also. I’m sure the girls did good but I just can’t stomach the other drivel passed out by Walters and the others so had to pass on seeing it.

As I keep saying, as unlikely as it seems, Newt is the man for the times!

No one in politics today understands the issues and can articulate his positions on them better than Newt. He is The Great Communicator II.

    • Trust1TG

Here is Newt teaching the cadets at the Citadel… articulating the American vision, founded on the love, truth, life and word of GOD that brings true freedom and joy, that was achieved and has been maintained by prayers, blood, sweat, tears of men and women.

      http://conservatives4newt.blogspot.com/2012/02/speaker-gingrich-on-conservative.html

I hope those elected who are soaking in the DC jacuzzi, drunk on power and money will wake up remember the true riches that are beyond purchase before it is too late.

      • Been_There_BT

Thanks for link. as a big fan of American History that was a joy to listen to because it shows Newt’s clear understanding of not just the facts but the motivations and spirit of the people who participated in securing our liberty.

Also was thrilled to find out that he is a fan of my favorite movie: The Last of The Mohicans!

        NEWT 2012!

        • nibblesyble

I loooove it, Last of the Mohicans is my favorite too!! The soundtrack by Trevor Jones is killer.

  • JoeMontana16

Newt is the only one who can pull this off. You have to have big guns to go against Obama and his propaganda machine called the Press. This interview crystallizes the argument that he should be the nominee and not Romney or Rick Santorum. Romney is pathetic and Santorum is ineffective.

Newt is correct. Tell karzai to apologize at a press conference that’s televised worldwide or we are out of there and the Taliban will cut his head off and probably rape his children or even worse. That’s what they do.

Go Newt. We don’t need these other losers that are running.

  • las1

Only one minute and fifty seconds into this interview.

    One question!

How could there be any assertion that Newt should not be president?

This man is fire and ice. And the country sleeps.

  • Is_Sense_Common

How on earth is it possible that our country is even looking at other candidates?!? Clearly this man has the mind and will and maturity and fortitude to lead us out of this mess. Yes, he has a past – who among us doesn’t? I really just don’t understand why our side is having such trouble seeing what’s clearly in front of us. Go get ‘em Newt. Keep talkin – surely we’ll catch on. I mean really – there is NO comparison among the others. Just none.

    • las1

      I can’t click anymore “likes”.

      So here’s ten more.

You are absolutely right… NO comparison! None!

    • BankGuy

Another Reason he needs to stay in the race. We NEED Newt to sweep the entire south (I’m not counting NC and VA for obvious reasons) SC through TX. Morris is saying that if Newt and Santorum can get to at least 800 delegates with Paul picking up 200, we are looking at a brokered convention and anything goes then. Anyone who has been asking Newt to get out of the race simply doesn’t get it. Gov. Palin knew the political calculus right from the beginning knowing that if conservative CANDIDATES could stay in the race, Romney could be denied. She knew the whole time when many, including myself, were urging her to endorse a candidate. ABR!!!!!!!

    • FreeManWalking

Sense, I’ll put my two in… It is because they are too lazy to read, or even watch video that proves the Dems, MSM, establishment Gopers fabricated stories to stop him when he was changing DC as Speaker. Most of the Gopers that didn’t go along with the establishment against Newt stood by and watched it happen.

Reagan started a conservative movement and Newt was carrying the torch and making a real difference. Like you I think he is the only one that will / can really turn things around.

      • BankGuy

        FMW,

Great post. Always admired Newt and believe he is the most brilliant and forward thinking conservative in recent times…PERIOD. There are always problems that come along with this, brilliant thinkers and leaders are ALWAYS ridiculed as the vast majority don’t have an IQ above 80. The moderates and the left fear him. They cannot attack his ideas so they prefer to label him as a nut, heretic or a man lacking morals or principles. We see this throughout the centuries and I’m sure Newt understands (being a historian) the burden he carries being out front of everyone leading with his chin. I worry that he will be savaged and disgraced (although nothing will be true)at the end of the process that he will not be electable. No single person in this election cycle has contributed more to conservative polical thought than Newt. I believe he knows in his heart that he cannot win the nomination but will sacrifice himself personally to see that the moderates in the GOP are relegated to the dust bin of political history. I believe God has a purpose for all of us on this earth and Newt believes this. I believe he knows that he must sacrifice himself for the greater cause. It is my hope that my fellow Christians will take this wrong but I liken Newt to John the Baptist; a voice calling from the wilderness. It is my sincere hope that his political head doesn’t end up on a pike next to the Potomac.

        • las1

My only question is: Sacrifice himself for whom? Certainly not for Romney, or Paul. That leaves Santorum. I have no confidence that Santorum has what it takes. Newt, however, does have what it takes… for all the reasons others have stated above.

Instead of praying for sacrifice… pray for victory for Newt. He gets absolutely no airtime. Pray that he gets wind in his sails… and that the left and the GOP will fire on him again… cause that’s when I believe he’s at his best… and his message of competence shines through

          • BankGuy

Sacrifice for a potential conservative white knight. I do not believe Newt or Rick are electable and a true conservative candidate will emerge at a brokered convention. This candidate will go on to win the general election. Also, read my post below with the link as it may bolster your hopes that Newt can get the nomination.

        • FreeManWalking

          BG,

Many have jumped on the bandwagon accusing Newt of attacking Paul Ryan when he said “I don’t think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering,”. This is one of the attacks I was referencing in my original post where people take the Media or the Est Gopers pundants attack instead of doing a little homework.

This comment like many of his ideas is a long held conservative position that social engineering isn’t a desired effect on the American people from either party. In the speech Newt made in 1994 prior to being sworn in as Speaker (link below) at the 38 minute mark he address this, using the same words and acknowledges that it will get him in trouble with the establishment.

          http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/CongressionalReform51

IMO, in totality this is one of Newt’s best speeches ever.

Add edit: I am holding out HOPE that Newt can and will get the votes and win the Nomination.

          • BankGuy

Agree with you that it was not Pelosi that engineered the ethics committee investigation (she was only a tool for the GOP establishment GOP). Many of those establishment types are still in office or are part of the Washington establishment not serving but still proxies for the establishment. These are the folks who go on national television and pronounce that Gingrich is a loose cannon, disorganized or had outlandish ideas. Additionally, you have some RINO’s in the media including George Will and Peggy Noonan who are shills for the establishment because they are part of it themselves. I’m not a conspiratorialist but it was obvious to all what happened in the late 90′s banning Gingrich to the political wilderness….a bit like Churchill in some ways. There are considerable headwinds for Newt to overcome as the establishment will only choose a conservative who is maleable to their cause. My opinion from 35,000 feet.

            • FreeManWalking

Great take, I have just about lost all interest in the wills, noonans, krystals, and especially coulter, and they do not deserve a capital.

I almost think Newt peaked a couple of weeks too soon, which Scared the Sheet out of Romney and brought on the negative carpet bomb ads that took its toll on Newt in Iowa. If he would have peaked at SC I think Willard would have had a more difficult time taking him down in FL (where delegates may still be split).

I am sure between Newt and Santorum Willard will not get the votes to secure the nomination, I hope Newt can. If it goes to the convention all bets are off, and I still hope for Newt, and if not him someone that can and will take it to 0b0.

  • FreeManWalking

It is good to see Newt starting off March with this appearance and a 50 minuted speech to The Cobb Chamber Of Commerce, Atlanta, Georgia, and a segment on Neil Cavuto…

I Hope he can take a majority of Super Tuesday’s. I’m sure he will take Georgia, unless RINOmney can dig up a body and blame Newt for murder.

Donna, spoken like a true Southerner. I bet you have switch in hand ready to pull Mittnocchio by the ear to the back of the barn for the thrashin’ he richly deserves. Love it! You sure you don’t have the same mom that Rev. Charles Stanley has?

    Thanks Scoop!!!!

You Newt supporters have probably already thought of this but maybe a few haven’t.

I think we know Newt is depending heavily on grassroots support and with super Tuesday only days away there are easy ways to help his campaign.

If you don’t have a Facebook account sign up (it’s very easy) display the 2.50 gal gas video or other speeches for people to see. Newt’s home page is a simple link as well as any YouTube videos or videos here at RS.

You can donate as little as 2.50 at his website.

Send speech links to everyone on your email list.

If we want him we need to support him and now’s the time to do it.

      cabensg,

RosiesSeeingRed made a similar comment a several days ago prior to Newt’s $2.50 gas campaign kickoff, which help convince me to get off my backside.

I said I was through, finished, pockets pulled out empty contributing to politicians, but decided that if I really care about the direction of the country I HAVE to do MORE than type my opinions on blog sites.

So I signed up, and donated and will donate again before Super Tuesday.

I agree with YOU at least donate $2.50, and if someone can’t afford to give, hopefully they can advertize to their friends on Facebook or what every means they have.

        You got the spirit!

I have been giving to his campaign since after the first debate.

I said to myself…”self, this man should be our President.”

Now I say…. “this man was born to be President at such a time as this.”

        • FreeManWalking

Sandy, I AGREE “this man was born to be President at such a time as this.”

I like your NEWThinking 2012 too.

I can’t recall who to give credit for this one: REWT 4 NEWT

I would like to have this bumper sticker.

Edit add: These are the times that Try Men’s Souls, Souls Please try Newt.

Newt is the answer for America. I don’t get it how could be so many Americans that are behind a weak & timid candidate like Mitt Romney.

    • sandynsavannah

I think it is a sign it is almost too late for America.

But I keep praying for a miracle.

Newt is right when he says this is the most important election of our lifetime.

      • Sinsonta

I’m also praying for a big miracle!

  • PFFV

Gingrich is clearly far superior to any of the other candidates on substance, solutions, and he articulates his plan clearly and concisely. Now let’s see if the people wake up and realize it.

    • RosiesSeeingRed

If he starts getting COVERED again, he has a chance. If all they do is keep talking about Romney and Santorum, no matter what Gingrich says, it’ll never get heard. It’s very frustrating.

Thanks Scoop for posting this interview. I watched it last night and thought “Gosh I hope I see this on a few blogs tomorrow!!!!”

      • sandynsavannah

It is on foxnation ……although not in full.

Alot of people watch Greta….*fingers crossed*…lets hope

  • Sober_Thinking

I hope Newt surges again… he’s better than his polls or delegate count.

  • Sparky5253

I love how Newt can answer these tough questions directly and without hesitation. You can see he has a mind like steel trap for facts plus he has great conceptual knowledge.

I don’t see Newt needing training wheels on the first day in the WH like Mittens or Santy will require.

Newt is awesome, and I think Americans are doing themselves a disservice by not considering Newt’s absolutely powerful resume and personal qualities.

    And, he’s “cheerful” to boot!

    • sandynsavannah

I like this comment so much!!
      Cheerful!!

Here is another source for Newt good sense and encouragement:
    http://electad.com/topics/newt-gingrich-speeches/

The Cobb County Chamber of Commerce speech has a Q&A and the Macon speech has the proper Presidential response to Afganistan’s ludicrous situation.

Gingrich’s statements can be reconciled, or at least selectively parsed. So, the result is Gingrich is for keeping Obamacare. Gingrich has never rejected Romneycare!
The only conclusion is Gingrich likes and wants to keep Obamacare… and that everything else is a campaign-season lie. If conservatives wanted a conservative candidate, they needed to pick one about July 2011 and *stick together*. (note – the only time this actually happened got us Ronald Reagan.. and the moderates’ reaction was to go third-party in the general election). Ultimately, I am stuck in this computer-chair, so I suppose I will put my pawprint in early for Gary Johnson (Libertarian).
    This is, naturally, troubling.
