Newt Gingrich: House Republicans should cooperate but not compromise

On Hannity’s radio show yesterday Newt said that there is a difference between ‘cooperating’ and ‘compromising’ and ‘cooperating’ is where the House GOP should put themselves. There’s no need to rush and start compromising our principles, he says, as some in the GOP leadership will likely do. Instead, he counters, Republicans should find other ways to get the revenue needed (like royalties from energy programs) and if Obama and the Democrats fight it, they should make this distinction: “Does [Obama] want more revenue or does he have some ideological reason for just wanting higher taxes in order to punish people?”

I think that’s exactly right. We fight on principle and expose the fraud that is this class warfare ideology. We don’t give in just because Obama won reelection. Nor do we compromise for the sake of compromise.
