Newt, appealing to anti-Romney sentiment, says he wants to win S.C. very badly and that he’s the only one that can run a national campaign and beat Romney. He believes that if Perry and Santorum voters get behind him, he can beat Romney in a landslide:
CBN NEWS – Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga., said he “very badly wants to win” the South Carolina primary on Saturday.
In an exclusive interview with CBN News on his campaign bus, Gingrich said that of the three “non-Romney” candidates, he’s the one who knows how to implement a national campaign.
“If the conservative voters who are currently attracted to Santorum and Perry realize that I’m the only one who can stop Romney, and they decide over the next couple days to be for me, when you add the three up, we would beat Romney by 60 to 40,” Gingrich said.
“So, I think it’s very, very important for us. We’re going to reach out to every conservative voter in the state,” he added.
South Carolina has picked the eventual Republican presidential nominee since 1980.
