A good, but short clip by Newt here talking about the clergy played a large role in the American revolution:

“You loan power to the government, the government does not loan power to you,” – Newt Gingrich.

I was hoping Scoop would see this excellent speech Newt did at the NRA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nbGbKbGZsGY#!

It’s powerful. The folks at Free Republic highly recommended it. Compare it to Santorum’s speech on the same subject… huge difference.

    • Frank Schleicher

Government derives its power from the consent of the governed …

We used to teach this in the classroom. My students knew what it meant. Government knew what it meant too. Politicians used to be public servants … they used to work for the tax payer … they used to work for us.

Near as I can tell, Newt is the only one out there who gets it … He’s got my vote.

  • stage9

That is why, folks, you cannot separate social values from fiscal values; they are inseparable. What a person believes will influence what a person does.

If they believe in an atheistic autocratic government where all power belongs to the state, then you, citizen, will be subject to that power.

If they believe all power comes from a loving God, that you are created in His image with intrinsic worth, then they will govern from that perspective.

    Our founders believed the latter.

Which is why I’m voting for Santorum :D

I don’t often quote scripture in these forums but you might find this helpful.

A true story from the book of Luke (that’s the bible in case you don’t know)

39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”

40 Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”

        “Tell me, teacher,” he said.

41 “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii,[c] and the other fifty. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”

43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”

“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.

44 Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47 Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”

Yeah, loved that lesson. Please try to find second meaning.

you wanna give me a hint?

  • REHLV

May I be the first to thank RS.

This clip is so excellent. It tells us a lot about Newt Gingrich on so many levels it would take half a page to list them all.

Newt can say more in a short clip, concise, honest & right spot on than most people I have ever met. (especially long winded preachers).

This is the man we need for President of USA. He is so diverse, able to address any situation in a way that exudes true confidence.

I am sorry, but I blush when I get excited, & I am blushing now.

(Romans 3:23-24) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

  • http://profiles.google.com/ajtelles Art Telles

    Gingrich said…

    - – - – - – - – - -

“I don’t come here as a religious leader, and I don’t come here as a saint.

“I come here as a citizen who has had a life that at times has fallen short of the glory of God, who has had to seek God’s forgiveness, and had to seek reconciliation.

“And, I speak to you as a citizen.

“While I’m in the pulpit for today, I’m not speaking as a religious leader.

    “I’m speaking as a citizen.

“But, it’s important to remember that many of the most important people of developing the American revolution were clergy.

“That, in fact, it was totally appropriate to think that our beliefs [... right hand stretched out to the right] and our beliefs [...left hand stretched out to the left], both related to each other [ right and left hands come together ]

“What we believed in religion and what we believed about the nature of our country were actually together, not apart.”

    - – - – - – - -

When God is brought into the conversation in the public square… deep and substantive thought happens.

Newt seems to be expressing thoughtful but not maudlin self-analysis since converting to Roman Catholicism.

    Hmm…

Santorum and Gingrich may be a tag team made in heaven… so to speak.

    • StrangernFiction

And Romney and Paul would be a tag team made in……………..

      • http://profiles.google.com/ajtelles Art Telles

        “………..”

Yep… so to speak… uh huh.

For POTUS, it’s either Santroum or Gingrich for me

Romney and his sidekick, the anti-Reagan and Murry Rothbard “anarcho-capitalist” libertarian shyster Ron Paul, have a lot of explaining to do about why the Murry Rothbard libertarian Paul wants his son Rand to maybe be chosen as the Massachusetts progressive Romney’s V-POTUS.

NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL ONE HELL OF A GOOD STATEMENT. WELL DONE, SIR !

      • V. M.

        Good one!

      • Nukeman60

        …Washington, DC (ie, purgatory).

    • Maxsteele

True but it seems the average republican Joe out there does not take the time to get to know their candidates and just goes by the 10 second sound bytes they recieve on the MSM or Fox. So Romney is still in the lead and it looks like he is going to take Michigan and Arizona now.
It is beyond belief for me that there is a majority of the Republican party willing to make Romney their choice for President.
Romney is only a slightly better choice then Obama. Yet, will just slightly slow the demise of the great nation.
      How can this happen?

      • http://profiles.google.com/ajtelles Art Telles

        “How…”

        Maybe, just maybe…

… ’cause the news purveyors have, uh, a Godless mindset and they agree with the title of Christopher Hitchens book, “god is not Great – How Religion Poisons Everything,” so

        - Obama very… VERY… goooooood
        - Romney ok, maybe, if
        - Santorum baaaaaad
        - Gingrich baaaaaad

        But… who knows?

We might also ask how it is MILLIONS of IDIOTS will still vote for Obama/Dems. after all the damage he has done to America WHICH IS NOW SINKING LIKE THE TITANIC Or how is it that Conservatives will repeatedly listen to/obey the GOP Elites as they force another moderate/Progressive LOSER on us and say “just do what your told and blindly obey us?” As to Romney’s new found support, I have heard a while ago that some Paulbots were temporarily switching sides to help Romney, which also explains the surprising number of Romneybots behaving like Paulbots on various blogs.A big part we Conservatives can play is to get out there and stir up the coach potatoes who never vote to wake up and vote Conservative your choice pick a flavor Ginrich or Santorum !

  • marketcomp

Amen! Sounds like Santorum and Newt on the same page! Two Great Conservative leaders!

  • nibblesyble

come on polls…start reflecting what this man has been doing this last week..talking about issues, gas, demolishing Obama on his pansy apology, reminding people of how important God was to the founders. This is a man for the times. Flawed but truly excellent.

    • http://twitter.com/PoeAllen Allen Poe

The polls, the BOS, the number crunchers, of the government, only print, what POTUS tells them to print. Once you get past this fact, you can expect every aspect of the gov performance to improve right up to November. To be informed, simply read a lot, of around the word news. If in doubt, we have great search machines. I have no doubt OB will be predicted a landslide victory, right up to the final count, and maybe after his loss. Worse, later history will try to paint him as the greatist POTUS ever, like the worse, JFK. And, please educate your children.

  • FreeManWalking

C-span has a 20 minute clip where GOP Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich returns to his home state of Georgia to speak on “God and Country” at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Milner,

    • MaxineCA

Thanks for the link. That was awesome! The more I watch/listen to Newt the more I learn which makes me respect & trust him more than the day before. He’s the only one that inspires me who has the knowledge and the courage to get us back to the country that we, our children and grandchildren should have.

      Go Newt!

      • FreeManWalking

YW… I appreciate the links that have been shared.

I totally agree with your comments of watching him more.

      • tag4189

I just finished listening to it…..he did a great job and it is worth the time to listen to it all.

        • sandynsavannah

I loved what he said about the choir! They were really great and you tell how much the music moved him.

I think he shows evidence of true repentance…he is truly a born again man.

Oh… and of course everything he said was riveting.

    • nibblesyble

      Thanks Tag, you rock!

      • StandingGround

OMGoodness, I am listening right now. How inspiring and encouraging Newt is.

Yes, thanks Tag, for the link. I just wish I had known this morning he was going to be at First Redeemer…its about 5 miles from my house!

I’m sure many of you remember Pastor Lee was one of the ministers that locked arms with other ministers as the Black Robe Brigade at the Restoring Honor event in Washington DC a couple of summers back. They have vowed to speak out for our nation and tell the truth from the pulpit, regardless of how much the liberals are screaming ‘separation of church and state’. It is wonderful to see them standing bold and unafraid to give great men like Newt and Rick S. platforms to get the conservative message to the people.

There are many, many patriots praying daily for our nation. With a leader like Newt and God’s grace, we could turn this thing around.

        • nibblesyble

          so tru!

    • FreeManWalking

Thanks Tag, this was a very good speech.

No one can come close to explaining how dire a time we live in now, and inspire with optimism that we can restore a greatness that once was.

    • REHLV

      Thank You
I truly appreciate every time someone shares one of these great moments about Newt away from the filters of the media trying to make him look like a fool.

God Bless America. Pray that God will restore our country.

    • wodiej

thank you for posting. God Bless Newt and Sarah Palin who are both truly trying to help our country and get Obama out of office.

      • jollyjellybean

And Santorum isn’t? I am waiting for Sister Sarah to announce that in order for this contest to go on, and for as many people as possible to have their voices heard, then MI & AZ voters should Pick Rick. Then Newt will live another day to fight on. Right? Isn’t that what she says she wants?

  • denbren52

    Newt/Rick 2012 or Rick/Newt 2012

Either way is fine with me.

    • Is_Sense_Common

If Newt’s not on top of the ticket, I’d love to see him be the Press Secretary. I know that might not be the place where he can be used to best benefit our nation, but wouldn’t it make those pressers a lot more fun!?!

      • FreeManWalking

Levin would be a better fit. “GET OUT OF THE ROOM YOU BIG DOPE”.

Newt’s talents and knowledge would be better suited for First Chair. Second fiddle wouldn’t fit a stronger personality.

        • Is_Sense_Common

I agree – a Newt VP wouldn’t do anything for the ticket because he’s a natural leader. Truly, the VP just makes the POTUS seat a little more palatable & has very little role in the actual governance. One of the criticisms/worries about Newt is his unfavorable ratings, so him being VP wouldn’t do anything to help anyone. IMO it’s a moot point because he’s the only one showing true leadership & ability to understand the nightmare we’re in & has the experience/plan to get this ship turned around.

          • FreeManWalking

Going back to the Press Secretary point, I was wondering if you were thinking of it as a take off on the story of Albert Einstein switching place with his chauffeur? If not, I think if Newt isn’t the nominee he should be the Chauffeur… here is the joke.

When Albert Einstein was making the rounds of the speaker’s circuit, he usually found himself eagerly longing to get back to his laboratory work. One night as they were driving to yet another rubber-chicken dinner, Einstein mentioned to his chauffeur (a man who somewhat resembled Einstein in looks & manner) that he was tired of speechmaking.

“I have an idea, boss,” his chauffeur said. “I’ve heard you give this speech so many times. I’ll bet I could give it for you.” Einstein laughed loudly and said, “Why not? Let’s do it!” When they arrive at the dinner, Einstein donned the chauffeur’s cap and jacket and sat in the back of the room. The chauffeur gave a beautiful rendition of Einstein’s speech and even answered a few questions expertly.

Then a supremely pompous professor asked an extremely esoteric question about anti-matter formation, digressing here and there to let everyone in the audience know that he was nobody’s fool. Without missing a beat, the chauffeur fixed the professor with a steely stare and said, “Sir, the answer to that question is so simple that I will let my chauffeur, who is sitting in the back, answer it for me.”

I agree. Over at the C4P Blog, it’s become vitriolic against Santorum by the Newt folks. Neither of them are perfect. So, welcome to the real world. But, both of them get what the GOPE apparently can’t see. This election is about more than just dollars and cents. Sure, we all want the economy to improve. But we want a real change for the better, which is what these two – quite extraordinary men – are speaking to.

We should support both of them, and not let others divide and conquer us.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez

Newt supporters here are critical and hard on Santorum but I couldn’t describe it as being vitriolic. Most of them are respectful and they are very smart like their candidate.

      • wodiej

As one of the Gingrich supporters at C4P, your comments are misleading at best. Perhaps vetting a candidate seems vitriolic to you but I didn’t see any posts from you when Gingrich was consistently going through the sausage grinder every day for months and the attacks were false. You obviously support Santorum and that is fine. But what is being posted about Santorum are pertinent facts that need to be known.

Newt not only Leads but educates the nation as well! He is exactly who we need to counter the harm done by the Liberals’ dumbing down of America!

    • cabensg

I watched his whole speech. It was not only right on it was inspirational. It’s a gift and in his case I feel it’s a god given gift. This is what leadership looks like. Knowledge, courage, humility and the ability to inspire others. I hope others will see this is what we need at this time in our countries history.

      • MaxineCA

That’s exactly how I feel. He is the man our country needs right now.

Let’s hope that the useful idiots that are more concerned about the Oscars tonight (or who’s going to win American Idol) than our country WAKE the heck up! But, I don’t see that happening anytime soon. We have our job cut out for all of us that want to take our country back, and IMO, Newt is what we need now.

  • http://twitter.com/PoeAllen Allen Poe

FYI RS,and Mark Levin. It has begun. Disqus just deleted my comment to Fox news, about gas prices. I stated nothing but Obama campaign promises, and current situation of those promises. Things will get worse.

    • Trust1TG

I noticed the same thing when I have commented there and at Greta’s blog. My serious documented comment disappeared within a minute or two. I reposted and it happened again twice.

    • JoeMontana16

Its amazing how easy it can be to get censored anymore. From right leaning websites at that. I haven’t had that problem yet but I’ve seen people get banned fir nothing other than disagreeing. Truly amazing. You have to tip toe around these days cause you may have a difference of opinion especially when it comes to our candidates.

  • http://onthemark1.blogspot.com/ On The Mark

It’s a nature of reestablishing who we are as a people and, then, changing the government back so it’s an American government.

This is the depth of understanding we desperately need in our elected officials.

Ill have to go with Newt. He has stones. I think he is a little morally bankrupt but he says he has changed. Ill have to take him at his word. He is the only one I see that can toe to toe with anyone. Santorum will get whipped around like a school kid. When he fights back it is just….I can’t describe it. He is pretty much uninspiring but Newt will put it too them. Newt, take them to the wood shed.

    • BarbaCat

Newt is the only one in this race who can deal with Obama the way he has to be dealt with, and it will be wonderful to watch.

This is the moment, that -I-, a sovereign American, can truly state, that my choice for President is ‘the great professor’, Newt Gingrich. This video is the antithesis of Obama showing up in a religious establishment, and having an ‘all about me’ service.

I am a Libertarian, raised through the years when citizenship was taught. Those lessons are not taught today, period. It is what The State wishes you to learn.

It is true, that parsons, priests, ministers, and rabbis, in this young but new territory, straining to be unchained from the dictates of “Mother England”, all spoke and prayed of such things, to be. It was with conviction, (where else do you really hear that today?), and a fervent, almost pit-bull hope, that it would happen, and it did.

I cannot vote for anyone that acts like a used car saleman, and I dealt with many, both on the lot, and in the backyard. I cannot vote for someone who, when challenged, becomes maleable in his defense. I cannot vote for someone who is a harlequin clothed in a suit off the rack at J.C.Penney.

It is said much, that those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it. I do not think that Mssrs. Romney, Santorum, or Paul, have really learned from this country’s history.

It would be insanity, to not elect ANYONE that has a grasp of past history, and the mindfulness to apply that to current situations.

Therefore, I put my vote, my support, and my money, with Former SOTH Newt Gingrich.

    Long live the Republic!

  • destruction2

Dont like Newt, don’t trust him. Most Republicans don’t he has no credibility, but like Obama he has the gift of gab. Obama sells “change” and Newt sells values but actions speak louder than words.
