Newt: Maybe Romney’s too rich to be concerned about high gas prices

If this is how Newt plans to come back in the Republican primary, by attempting to foment class warfare resentment toward Mitt Romney’s wealth, he might as well just drop out right now. Cheap shots like this are straight out of the Left’s playbook, and the irony of course is gas prices could quadruple and Newt himself wouldn’t even feel the pinch. He’s not exactly hard up either. None of the candidates are for that matter, including Obama. And anyway, who cares?

Newt would be well-advised to stick to substantive criticisms of Romney, and leave the hypocritical class warfare rhetoric to the pros.

Newt Gingrich took a shot at Mitt Romney’s wealth today in an interview.

“If you’re Mitt Romney and you’re rich enough, maybe you don’t get it,” Gingrich said on Fox News, via GOP12, in response to a question about Romney’s comment that Gingrich’s campaigning on cheap gas was pandering.

“If Romney wants to run as the candidate of high-priced gasoline, that’s fine with me,” Gingrich added later in the interview.

“We’ll lump him in with Barack Obama, which is the same as Romneycare and Obamacare. So maybe it’s also Romney high-priced gasoline, and Obama high-priced gasoline.”
