I wish the FOX News team would quit using the lefts fabricated term, “Assault Weapon”. Maybe we need to get this document to the News Script Writers so they can start using the correct nomenclature.
An assault weapon is one that has a selector switch allowing it to fire semi or full automatic. An assault weapon is not defined by the number of rounds it’s clip or magazine can hold. Or by it’s appearance. As defined correctly, America does not have an assault weapon problem. The few held by private persons are fully registered and heavily taxed by the Federal Govt. This law is law that has worked and has fulfilled its mission of controlling the numbers of fully automatic weapons held by private citizens.

An assault weapon must:
It must be an individual weapon with provision to fire from the shoulder (i.e. a buttstock);
It must be capable of selective fire;
It must have an intermediate-power cartridge: more power than a pistol but less than a standard rifle or battle rifle
Its ammunition must be supplied from a detachable magazine rather than a feed-belt.
And it should at least have a firing range of 300 meters (1000 feet).
Now, does American have an assault weapon problem?

I bought one 20 years back when local governments started sticking their nose into our 2nd Amendment rights. Bought an SKS for the spouse. It was mostly a protest, along with joining a huge turnout at City Hall. When hundreds showed up for the protest, the subject was dropped by the officials. They left it up to the state.
People have to use their rights to preserve their rights.
Buy guns, and join NRA and other organizations that will fight every inch. The Bill of Rights is not a Bill of Licenses. Government does not get to slice and dice Freedom.
Tyranny is always present. If you have government at any level, tyranny is always on the agenda. Crime, evil, tyranny are as natural as air and water. Free mankind has to be armed, stay vigilant and never give an inch.

One quick point of order: We may be fighting ‘Progressives’, ‘Liberals’, ‘Lefties’, Socialists, ‘those who lean Left of center”, etc.; but they are all Democrats. If we are going to fight these Constitution hating types we have to quit parsing words and call them out for what they are. The Democrat Party has caused most of the ills in this country and continues to do so. We need to make that point at every opportunity.

The US needs a National (computerized) Voter Registry with Photo ID, not gun registry.

I am not aware of any fire arm that fires more than one round at a time. Every machine gun - even the Gatling gun - only fire one round at a time. The distinction - as you noted elsewhere - is the number of rounds fired per trigger pull (or, for the Gatling gun, how long you turn the crank).

Over here, I've started to 'educate' those who are talking about these assault unicorns rifles, and am demonstrating the difference between those pesky automatic and semi-automatic ones. and me never ever even having held a gun in my hands ...
That reminds me: gotta be careful what with pointing my hands in a gun-like fashion at people .... might go to prison ... for threatening someone with my assault fingers ....
Although this was an informative article, it will be meaningless to Obama, Biden, and the liberals in Congress. Don't you get it yet? Their goal is complete gun control, to disarm us and to have us as defenseless as the people in Europe right now. And although the Europeans may look down their noses at us with contempt for demanding to hold onto our guns, we still have not managed a Hitler or a Mussolini or a Franco or a Stalin, yet. Hmmmm, I wonder why that is? Could it be because the American people would not stand for it and has the very real capacity to resist that? Just seems strange that all the examples of horrific dictators taking over a country occurred in places where people were NOT allowed to own many guns. "Funny" how that works out.

This was great information Ken and most helpful. Problem is that most of the people that need to read this won't, and even if they did they've already made up their minds and the two words on the tip of their tongue for everything you wrote would be "yea but." The whole semi vs auto to me comes down to accuracy. The first time I put my 16 on automatic in a real situation - some called it autagetem - I was all over the place. It was like the Oliver Stone movie line from JFK. Up and to the right, Up and to the right. You can do a lot more damage with semi in my opinion. I can understand some of the points the left are making, but I don't want to give an inch. We give up magazine sizes, and the next time someone gets killed by a revolver, they will want them too. I can hear them now " We've come for your .22 revolver sir" "Come along now, we can't have out and about with this any longer."
As I was taking ownership of my new Mossberg 500 12ga short-barrel pump yesterday someone in the Outfitters store was talking about a relative who has a 9 rd .22 cal revolver & lives in NY state was concerned because the way that law was reading they thought it was banned.
They probably are. Tell your relative that one possibility is a Baretta Bobcat, but be sure to get the .22LR instead of the .25ACP magazine. The .25 2acp has an 8 round magazine, and the .22LR is a 7. I'm waiting for my Mossberg to come in. I ordered the same one.
We can all talk, but in the end Obama can dictate what he wishes. He has law enforcement and the military to back him. Where will his domestic military force come from?
I think I know where his domestic opposition will come from.
My best fishing bud who does a lot more hunting than I do and has two freezers full of fish, fowl, and deer, has been what I would consider apolitical until recently. Oh he votes Republican after having a little pow wow with us on all the other issues that might appear on a ballot but doesn't really pay attention every day like we do at our house. He also has several kids under the age of 14.
However, my phone rang last night just as I was about to answer the first Jeopardy question. It was he filling my ear for a little over an hour about Obama, the democrats, the media, his gun rights, and what he was going to do about it. I've never heard him rant like that. I was able to calm him down a little by going over what I felt were the most meddling of the new EO's and that the serious 2nd amendment meddling was only yet being strongly suggested by Obama, that Congress pass, and that I didn't think the kinds of limitations he wanted would make it through.
Anyway, Obama and co's actions and further desires by democrats are really starting to wake folks up who normally don't pay attention to politics. But now that politics is stepping on the front porch of folks, indeed, reaching into their nightstands and gun safes...they are now awake, as if a rooster were doing his thing right in their ears.
It'll be very interesting as well as telling, how this debate works itself out. That sleeping giant Yamamoto referred to once upon a time, is opening his eyes, stretching his arms, and taking to his feet.

I believe, after the end of WW2, one of the Japanese leaders was asked why they didn`t invade the continental US after Pearl Harbor and his reply was something to the effect that besides an army, the US citizens were also armed. That my friends, is the Very reason the globalists, UN Agenda 21 promoters, the muslim brotherhood, progressives, communists, BO and his ilk, and LORD KNOWS who else are on stand by. As far as I know, the only other country in the world with an armed citizenry is Switzerland !!! That`s why the right, NOT priviledge, to bear arms is essential to preserve this Great Nation INTACT for future generations. Tyranny cannot stand against truth. Peace be with you.......

He got a small raise at the end of the 2012 too, but his actual check was even smaller after the raise because of the payroll tax increase.
Not happy about that either :-)
