Paul Krugman has drawn one step closer to his inevitable trip to the loony bin, with this strange bit of commentary on today’s earthquake:
People on twitter might be joking, but in all seriousness, we would see a bigger boost in spending and hence economic growth if the earthquake had done more damage.
Gee, with any luck maybe Hurricane Irene will wipe out a few towns this weekend along the East Coast! If that doesn’t pan out we can always hope the planet gets hit by a giant asteroid or something.
I just thought of those two ideas myself. Where’s my Nobel Prize?
***UPDATE*** Turns out that “Paul Krugman” Google+ account is a fake. I guess it’s difficult to parody a guy who really does argue that natural disasters or even terrorist attacks are good for economic growth.
