Obama campaign tells young voters to warn grandparents about Romney-Ryan

I guess Obama realizes his message isn’t getting through to seniors, so he’s moved on to plan b:

POLITICO – The Obama campaign on Friday launched a new campaign asking young people to send e-cards to their parents and grandparents warning them that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will increase taxes on their Social Security benefits.

“Romney wants to raise taxes on benefits that seniors have already paid for so that millionaires can pay less,” one card asserts. Another says: “These are the people who taught us to whistle and tie our shoes, so no, you can’t raise taxes on their social security benefits by $460 a year.”

The campaign is designed to coincide with a trip by Vice President Joe Biden to Florida, where he will push the same points.

UPDATE: Romney campaign spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg emails this response: “Only one candidate in this race has a ‘plan’ to keep social security from going bankrupt by raising taxes, and that’s Barack Obama. His failure to lead on this critical issue means that seniors face a 25% across-the-board cut in benefits. In contrast, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have outlined a plan to save and strengthen Social Security that does not raise taxes and ensures that middle-class seniors receive all of the benefits they’ve earned.”
