Obama in 2004 on gay marriage: Marriage is not a civil right

Obama does believe that homosexuality is innate but then says that he doesn’t believe that marriage is a civil right, defending his position of anti-gay marriage. An interesting dilemma he presents to the gay community:

I remember in 2008 that it was said that gay people thought Obama really agreed with gay marriage, but couldn’t go there politically. Even I thought the same. However, now I’m not so sure. And after all these years he says he’s still ‘evolving’ on the issue of gay marriage, but my guess is that he isn’t evolving at all. In fact I think that if it weren’t for the gay vote being a fair amount of his base, he may not be for it at all.
