Obama: Out with McChrystal – In with Petraeus

Krauthammer was right – Obama couldn’t keep McChrystal on as head of the Afghan war:

Gen. Stanley McChrystal is no longer the top U.S. commander and strategist for Afghanistan, being told Wednesday by President Obama that he is out of a job following a scathing article in which McChrystal and his aides were quoted criticizing the commander-in-chief over his leadership in the Afghan war.

Fox News confirmed that Obama will announce in a matter of minutes that he is relieving McChrystal of his command. According to a senior administration official, he plans to replace McChrystal with Gen. David Petraeus, the head of Central Command and the former commander in Iraq.

Well, I guess if he were going to replace him, General Petraeus is the right man for the job. I have the utmost respect for Petraeus and he has a good understanding of what’s going on in Afghanistan.

I just hope that we as a nation don’t ignore the issues that this has brought to the surface. My guess is that the MSM is happy now, so they will move on with more important issues…like Palin’s fake boobs.
