Are there any true conservative politicians left? Not any of the democrats, but the republicans, what is happening? Don't they care about their country? They are losing their patriotism and conservatism. Obama must be impeached. He gets away with everything and gets his way at our expense. I am a conservative, but I am starting to dislike ALL politicians.
You're remorsing now about voting for R&R, who would've fought for an across the board 20% reduction in tax rates??
And asking for a third party again, when Romney lost in five battleground states by less than the number of votes Ron Paul received in the primaries in those states??
When Ron Paul faces a mother in labor he says , "Push!" he doesn't say, "Well, I'm a libertarian, so I can't tell you what to do..."
Despite the fact that his delegation was treated abominably by jerks at the convention, Paul should have sucked it up and said, "Anyway guys, now is the time to PUSH, and get a Republican back in the WH, and we will continue our work with a new administration."
It's about being realistic for the sake of being effective, instead of proud and shooting yourself in your own foot.
Now you got what you got by choosing to be divided...
Well Illinois is looking to ban all guns during lame duck session. Their state police will seize them. They love to ignore the supreme court and the court of appeals. I so want to watch this go down.
Over on teaparty.org, Dr. Jerome Corsi posted an article by Grover Norquist, outlining what he thinks this fiscal cliff thing is all about. It makes more sense than anything I have read on the subject.
"Noted tax expert Grover Norquist believes Obama’s stated goal of getting Republicans to agree to increase taxes on the rich is not the real goal of the Obama administration or Democrats in Congress."
“This is just the first act of a two- or three-act play,” Norquist said, arguing that Obama will insist on some form of tax rate increase for the highest income earners as part of any last-minute deal passed by Congress to avoid the fiscal cliff.
It's an excellent article. Here's the rest:
http://www.teaparty.org/brace-yourself-2013-tax-tsunami-to-hit-america-17931/
This is all nothing more than political theatrics aimed at further weakening the GOP. Any deal cut over the short term won't even dent the deficit, let alone trimming the national debt. What should happen now is for the House to defeat the Senate bill and turn immediately around and produce a new bill that nixes tax hikes below incomes less than $1M. The media will have to address it and it will be supported by the American people.
The Senate bill adds $4 trillion to the deficit over 10 years, includes tax breaks for Hollywood millionaires and billionaires (Barky Boy's donors)
I don't see anything we say mattering anymore. Obama/Congress will do what they want regardless.

I enjoy Michelle Malkin's "Twitchy.com", too, although that isn't often "news" so much as it is a chronicle of the left's delusions, hypocrisy, and often violent rhetoric. But they're entertaining over there, which makes it a fun read sometimes.

A serious question. Since the original Bill (Bush Tax Cuts) officially expired, can the original Bill, having expired, now be Amended by the Senate as it appears it is doing to bypass the Constitution that all Revenue Bills must initiate in the House?
aposematic, this has puzzled me too. As we all know by The Constitution, all tax and revenue bills must originate in the House. They cannot originate in the Senate. The Senate can, however, amend a bill sent to it by the House, and pass the amended bill.
This is what they apparently did in this case. They essentially gutted a previous bill and then inserted all the language to make it into a new bill. Then they voted on and passed this existing bill with all the new language in it.
Did the Senate originate a new bill? Of course they did. But through a technicality, they didn't violate The Constitution, because they will say they simply amended a previous bill which originated in the House.
I have tried to find the source bill they used, but haven't been able to do so. Perhaps someone here on Scoop can help with that. The only reference I could find was this article on the Human Events site:
It mentions the process in the first paragraph:
"The Senate voted 89 to 8 just after before 2 a.m. Jan. 1 to gut a unrelated House-approved tax bill and replace its language with the tax increases negotiated by that chamber’s GOP leadership and Vice-President Joseph R. Biden Jr., on the edge of the so-called “fiscal cliff.”
I tried to access the link, but it requires a Google account, and I refuse to have any connection with Google.
A previous bill was used, but I have no idea which one.
Here's a little more general info as a refresher:
Article I, Section 7 states that all revenue bills shall originate in the House of Representatives but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on any other bills. The reason for this is that at the time the Constitution was written, it was felt that Senators would be more wealthy than Representatives and might be willing to spend more government money than the Representatives would. Also, the House with its greater numbers was seen as being the better gauge of the wishes of the people for spending measures.
Revenue bills were only to originate in the House because members of the House of Representatives are the only federal officials elected directly by the people. Senators, up until the ratification of the 17th Amendment in 1913, were chosen by the state legislatures. And the president was chosen by the Electoral College. At the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787 it was felt that, in order for the new federal government to have sufficient legitimacy to gain popular support, it was imperative that at least part of the government would always have a popular mandate. Hence the three words at the beginning of the Constitution are "We the People." This meant that the new government would derive its authority directly from the people and not from state governments.
Since the ratification of the 17th amendment in 1913, both House Representatives and Senators are elected by we, the people. To tell you the truth, I don't believe anyone in Washington cares anymore.
The Framers of the Constitution's concern that Senators might be more wealthy than Representatives, no longer holds water. There are plenty of millionaires in both houses of Congress, and they are all perfectly willing to spend our money. Take a look at the link below. It's a real eye-opener.
http://www.rollcall.com/50richest/the-50-richest-members-of-congress-112th.html
As for Senators being elected by the people (17th Amend.): Those people are mainly in the big cities, already accustomed to enslavement by their local masters. I live in VA. If you look at a map of the 2012 election, over 70% red but painted 100% blue by the N.E. VA DC suburbs, E. Coast VA, and the Central VA UVA area. Yet the State Gov. is Red. Same for States like Ohio. I still believe its the MSM/Press and Education (i.e. false info outlets) that got us to this point.
So basically they pulled the same stunt here as they did with Obuma(no)care (ACA). Actually this renders Article 1, Section 7, of the Constitution worthless unless the House never ever sends any revenue Bills to the Senate again. The Senate may have file cabinets full of them already though. What a Government!!!!
Thanks for the Info :-)
Update: H.R. 8 was originall introduced: Sponsor: Rep Camp, Dave [MI-4] (introduced 7/24/2012) Cosponsors (28), This is the Bill the Senate gutted and Amended (hahahaha), cut/gut and paste/screw the House is easy for the Senate.
I am retired, have been for several years now, and I have tried to keep up with all the Bills and failed. It would take an office with dozens of people doing nothing else and I bet they couldn't keep up. Oh, the Bill Amended was H.R. 8 (my Congress critter just sent an e-mail saying he voted against the Senate Amendments to that Bill), I'm going to Thomas.gov (I think that's it, haven't been in a while) and look it up. I too have thought about moving, or at least converting my cash to some other currency. Wow, so much to figure out now. Never imagined America could have gone so wrong; always felt the people were too smart to let this happen but alas, here we are rushing to the bottom.
We have what I would call a, "loophole," government. By that, I mean there is always a way around The Constitution, and legitimate government by legitimate Governors.
Obama has a full-time wrecking crew, working 24/7, to find a way around the protections our Founders tried to leave us, all those years ago. In most cases, they are successful. Because in their innocence and lack of real knowledge of true despots like Obama, Our Founding Fathers simply could not have imagined such madness as this man is currently producing. It is not their fault. It saddens me that Obama can easily find so many willing people to help him with his sick agenda.
You have to imagine the setting. They had just finished a war against England, and thrown off the shackles of that King who would still have them as Serfs this very day, if that were only possible. It was not diplomatic. Diplomacy could not have accomplished what they did. It was accomplished by brave men with guns. Men who had decided it was better to die, than live with tyranny.
The situation we find ourselves in right now, is not that much different. If we do nothing to oppose him, this man who wasn't even born here, and hates this country, will take away every single last freedom you and I have. That was his mission when he came here. It hasn't changed.
But the world has changed. The Founders didn't have Liberals and Progressives and Socialists to deal with. We do. We also have a rather large population of people who look to the government for their daily existence. You and I get up in the morning and go to work. Fifty per cent of America gets up in the morning and goes to their mailbox. To get the check. The Obama check. The check that you and I pay for.
I am not going to lie to you. Over the last few years, I have looked very seriously at the possibility of moving to Costa Rica, or Panama. Only thing that keeps me here, are my children and grandchildren. If I could somehow take them all with me, I'd be gone tomorrow. I really mean that.
There is no real freedom left in this country. It is an illusion. The Federal Damned Government takes away a little more of your freedom each day, and you don't even notice. Don't believe me? Take a look sometime at all the new bills that are passed by Congress each year. I bet you never did that. I bet most Americans never did that.
Every single one of those bills takes away a small part of your freedom. That is what they are designed to do.
We have to stop the process. We cannot allow it to continue.
Maybe te House could put expiration dates on all Revenue Bills sent to the Senate. Like if the Senate doesn't act on the Bill in say a few weeks it expires.
white: this was my question all day! Shouldn't this type of bill HAVE to originate in the House??
I swear, and I'm lumping Boehner, McConnell et al in here too, I don't think ANYone in ANY position of authority even knows what the Constitution says, much less are they willing to abide by the rules it lays out.
What an absolute mess.
Someone (I think it was Herman Cain, or someone from his Job Solutions group) called this a Crap Sandwich. I'm pretty sure he is being too kind. :( :( :(
UGH!
Governor Palin just posted on FB:
New Year's resolution to Keep the Faith:
Best wishes to everyone for a happy New Year! In the coming days there will be a great deal of debate about the goings-on in the political arena and the shenanigans in Washington. Constitutional commonsense conservatives must stay engaged and hold our “leaders” accountable to the voice of average everyday hard working Americans or we will very soon become an enslaved, bankrupt former nation of greatness. So, please keep the faith heading into this new year. And for now, remember to be grateful for the blessings and opportunities God has given us as independent individuals, as caring members of families, as honorable businesses and communities, and as countrymen who understand this most exceptional nation’s foundations of strength. We’ve been given all this for yet another year; let’s not take it for granted. In this new year, as jobs change with doors closing and opening, kids growing, relationships evolving, and life throwing curveballs, may you resolve to stay engaged and optimistic. May you pick your battles wisely. And may you live life vibrantly! God bless you all and God bless our great country as we promise to live out 2 Chronicles 7:14. Here’s to liberty!

Damn she is hell and brimstone raining down on the stupid. This was in answer to Slim Shavings link to Barnhart.
I now fell absolute vindication for supporting Gingrich. If nothing else came of it he would have schooled the ignorant about Islam, Obama, the Constitution, the war on religion and conservatism. Would he have made a good president? Was he to enamored with what government could or should do? I don't know. What I am sure of is he would not have let the media or Obama get away with their lies and would have used a National platform to expose them which means we would have been further ahead than we are now.
He's working behind the scenes now and I look forward to his conclusions and recommendations for the future.

Analysis: 77% of Households to See Tax Increase
The fiscal cliff bill’s impact would be far-reaching for American taxpayers, and particularly painful for very high-income households, according to a new analysis.
About 77% of American households would see a tax increase compared to their 2012 tax levels, according to the analysis by the Tax Policy Center, a joint venture of the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute.
The biggest impact for most households comes from the expiration of a two-percentage-point payroll-tax break that existed for 2011 and 2012. It basically hits all working people. But the bill also contains sizable tax increases for the wealthy, compared with 2012 levels. (Of course, now that the fiscal cliff has arrived, supporters argue that the legislation actually represents a tax cut, because tax rates technically went up for just about everyone at midnight Monday.) http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2013/01/01/tax-bill-analysis-77-of-households-to-see-tax-increase/
The time is ripe for a tea party and conservative rally on Washington to show our unity and voice.
Allen West “Senate legislation doesn’t promote economic growth, debt/deficit reduction – I can’t support it...
God Bless Allen West!
The question is not how many are furious but how many are willing to do something about it and join a third party. As anyone can see neither establishment party has done anything but to increase our tax burden and their own control over our lives. Unless we have faith in God and courage to stand upon the principles we profess to believe we are no better than the pols who lie to us every two years to get our vote. It's time to pray, to stand and to fight. If the founders could fight Britain we can certainly fight these yokels in DC.
As much as I hope a third party would help it won't. Barky is alluding to never leaving office, that he will be in our WH much longer than 4 years.
Totally agree sjmom! Just read this on my FB that pretty much mimcs what you say:
Why, do we keep reelecting those who want all the fruits of America while desiring to keep those fruits from others. In 2013 let's all adopt this motto:
If its to be its up to me!

Forget gun control. Let's have a media tax per violent incident depicted in movies, commercials and television. You wouldn't believe what I just saw in a daytime commercial. Disgusting.
So have y'all seen this? Illinois is going to throw the Constitution right out the window.
BREAKING: Illinois Bill to Ban All Modern Firearms The Left has gone batshit friggin MAD!
Yea, let's find out if that effects the gangs or those who carry guns without permits in that State who should be the target!
Yea, let's find out if that effects the gangs or those who carry guns without permits in that State who should be the target!
So, ahem, will the criminals no be frightened into giving up all their guns?
Will the Illinois police go and disarm the criminals?
Thought not ...
This is the way to make all citizens in Illinois criminals. They might as well keep all their guns then.
I think this is how Barky Boy is going to declare martial law. Rahm will send the white law enforcement to the south side, they will all be murdered and Barky will unleash the feds and raid the homes of white people to confiscate their guns and give them to his black gang members and deputize them.
Well strict gun control has worked so well in Chicago I can see that they would want to extend it and make it even tougher!
From the report: " If he is successful at doing so, nearly every gun you currently own will be banned and will be subject to confiscation by the Illinois State Police . . ."
Good luck with that!
If law enforcement participates in seizure then they become part of the problem. They can and should walk away from their job and stand with the people and oppose the illegal stripping of the 2nd Amendment.
This can't end well. The lawmakers know it, don't care. Agenda over life. The cops will be the ones paying with their lives. And the politicians will again exploit their deaths to push their agenda forward. :-(
