They also were not trying to crush the girl’s fingers in the window; they were trying to get her to release her grip on it, so that they COULD close the window. Did you watch the same video as I did? Their response was as passive as they could be, since she showed a potentail to climb INTO the store, and wreck their expensive equipment.

Bottom line is: you are not at the mercy of unruly customers. You can toss them out anytime you want to, and defend property up to a point.

This being Ohio, there are Big Boy’s everywhere. Open 24 hours, IIRC. They have chicken strips that are superior to McD’s nuggies, available at all hours. That’s what I would have suggested to Ms. Dushane, right before she smashed that Colt 45 bottle in my face.

Possibly,like every other McDonald’s I ever been too they serve exclusively breakfast until a certain time,10 or 11a.m.,at which time they start to serve their lunch and dinner items and stop serving their breakfast menu. Not unlike many “sit down” restaurants.

I agree with you on the entitlement piece. We as Americans believe we are entitled to everything. I’m sure she was told when she first tried to place an order over the intercom that they did not have McNuggets for breakfast. One day she is going to run across the wrong food worker (someone who is having a bad day too) and they are going to kick her a$$! Just look at the flight attendant from JetBlue. People in the service industry are only going to take so much crap from customers. THE CUSTOMER IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT!

They were not in danger, initially. They are not trained in physical confrontation nor self-defense nor anger management cessation. Their actions kept them in harms way. A multi-billion dollar chain restaurant store does not want employees in a dust-up, especially with a hostile customer, under any circumstances no matter how or who started it.

Lots of fun to talk tough and speculate about how you would have handled it better or kicked some customer ass, but you’ll end up in court and it will be expensive regardless of fault. Ask the attorneys. Thank God there was a camera to show what happened.

Of course no place wants their workers to confront anyone. I don’t see that happening here, though. I’ve worked in retail, and there IS a fine line where you can cross, if you are personally threatened. While the store does not want employees to cause confrontations, they have no problem with employees defending themselves if an unwarranted situation arises.

How many here who are writing these interesting comments have ever been to civil court? A jury can find partial fault with each party. The woman is out of control, but if a jury finds that the employees should have stayed back or not got involved or tried to shut the window on her, even 10% fault could end up being $millions with a big corporation.

Property can be replaced. Eyes, hands, and serious injuries, which could have happened here, are not fixable.

who do most lawyers support and fund?, DEMOCRATS, that is a fact. What is wrong with the legal system, lawyers need to make money, in order to make money they invent loop holes, ways around the system, this will be another sad case of a lady upset about nuggets who will make millions in a lawsuit against McDonalds, something similar to “Spilling coffee” on yourself while driving. i wouldnt be surprised if this was a set up to get money. I will be looking for a lawsuit here in the next couple of weeks and an emotional defendant stating all she wanted was her “nuggets”, lol. So the 16 year old behind the counter cops an attitude with you because you’re the twelfth a-hole that asked for lunch this morning. Can’t you read?!? Don’t you EVEN know what time it is? I can see the her defense now; I was under a lot of stress and needed my fast food fix! This type of behavior is TOTALLY unacceptable. If someone is under that much stress (it is up to that person – to seek help to decrease the stress) from family, a counselor, neighbors, salvation army, a church, etc. There is always someone that would help.
