they did the right thing in letting the bobcat loose. the permit comment is unclear. did they have a permit for fox would be the question
That was a thing of beauty to watch! Poor little Kitty.. So lucky to have two good guys come by and rescue him. These kind of guys and their efforts to free the cat give me hope for humanity... Thanks Scoop for posting this, you're a great guy!
If this bobcat attacked my livestock I would have to kill it. If it only focused on the deer or wild turkeys that would be fine with me.
Bobcats are small they go for small game. Really small is their usual fare, mice, rats, chipmunks, squirrels etc. Cougars are the sometimes livestock killers. Easier meal than the usual hunt.
Why risk it. Just bust out the shotgun and end the whole thing. Turn around, go home and drink a hot cup of coffee. Turn on TV and watch reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond.
If the Bobcats leg had been observably broken, the options would have been different. As the ending of the video shows that apparently not the case, I'll stay with RS's description of the incident.
Why risk it? Because it's the right thing to do? Because some of us couldn't see that and not help in good conscience. I'd help get that bobcat out, even if it meant getting life scars. I love animals. I'm not against hunting. I just can't see animals suffer when I'm in a position to help.

That was kinda cold I know but putting it out of its misery would have been the option I would have taken. We need no stinkin' Bobcats. Just kidding.
It was trapped... if I freed it and it was limping and unable to walk and was sure to die a long painful death... I would agree with you... OH look, nevermind! We both have much bigger fish to fry! :-)
