“Otherwise peaceful” Occupy Oakland demonstration marred by riots, vandalism & flag burnings

How many more of these Occupy riots will it take for the mainstream media to stop referring to the movement as “otherwise peaceful”? Don’t hold your breath waiting to find out, because that just ain’t gonna happen. But let’s at least give CBS News some credit here for not completely ignoring what took place in Oakland over the weekend.

Other than the holocaust and WWI and WWII the Nazi’s were, otherwise peaceful, too.

Oh c’mon Dan, they’re just like the tea party /sarc off

  • Anonymous

In the meantime, 5 people were murdered in that same city while the police were “occupied” with these occupiers. Would they be alive today if not for these? Maybe.
Would Oakland have had to spend 5 million dollars dealing with these violent hobos if they were not occupiers? No.

I think some billy clubs need to occupy the otherwise empty craniums of these rabble-rousers. You know, give ‘em something to fill their heads with.

They entered city hall and proceded to destroy it. If Tea Party folks had even attempted anything remotely resembling this, they would be labeled as treasonous terrorists, 24/7. As we all know though, there is zero similarity between these loser commies and Tea Party Patriots, aside from them all being, ostensibly, human.

    • Anonymous

Correction… if the Tea Party had even approached City Hall en masse, they would have mobilized the National Guard. Screwed up, hypocrytical, lie factory is what the media has become.

      • Anonymous

Correction? How is that different than what I said?

“If Tea Party folks had even attempted anything remotely resembling this…”

        Good grief! Correction my ass!

Yep, same sentiments here my friend. This occupy movement is everything they wanted the Tea Party Protesting Patriots to be. Tea Party people work for a living unlike these hippies and miscreants costing taxpayer’s big money to police up after. They crap in the streets and burn American Flags. Why is our Government officials encouraging this activity by letting it happen? Total hypocrisy indeed, they called us racists, extremists, radicals but we always were civil law abiding citizens that came, protested and went home but not before we made sure it was cleaner than before we got there. The Tea Party patriots are the respectful members of society that care most about the future for our children and grand-children, and on and on. Liberals want to squat in the streets and break the laws because they think they are entitled to something they aren’t willing to work hard for like most American’s before them had to. Anyhoo…lol! It’s getting late nite nite RS pals :-)

Saw Jean Quan interviewed (can’t remember the channel…) and she said she was quickly losing her patience for the OWS movement. That the young people should think through their actions. My thought was – WTF??? They’ve destroyed property for months now, created chaos for business owners and she’s just NOW losing her patience?

I pray for patience on the part of Oakland’s PD as well as their safety because she’s been tying their hands since day one. Hopefully those who elected her will remember this come the next election.

    • Anonymous

She needs to have many bootprints on her butt, superimposed over OWS lip prints.

She also ignored the Veterans Day Parade in favor of attending an Occupy rally…

    • Anonymous

Prayer and restraint are appropriate and you’re right Amy, that is the proper way for Christians to think about these people.

I think part of the outrage is how the lying spin factory known as the lame-stream media has characterized truly peaceful Tea Party protests while coddling the occutards as they deficate, obstruct, burn, riot, and trash any area they infest. Hypocrites.

I pray for peace but many Americans are becoming mad as hell and won’t take it anymore if this insanity reaches their doorstep.

      • Amy

I understand the anger as well. Unfortunately, the minute someone even a little bit connected to the tea party or the right reacts violently all hell will break loose. It’s what people like Soros are banking on. It’s what the MSM expects to happen.

Don’t misunderstand me, I have no issue with defending ourselves. I’m armed and if you come at me in a threatening manner, I will act. To drop our guard would be foolish. The patience I pray for is that we continue to show as much restraint as possible. Once we don’t… I think then we will see their real plans in action.

Hopefully the voters will remember how some of this countries mayors catered to this ‘movement’ and will vote them out.

Yeah, you make a good point. Once we “lose our cool”, then they will have the opportunity to put a face (our face) on their hatred and it will shortly become open season. I marvel at the restraint the Tea Party has already demonstrated. Commendable. None of us really wants a fight… But I honestly feel like a civil war is brewing. I pray for peace and hope it doesn’t come to that. With a new president and congress, it won’t.

You are witnessing the epic failure of the Enlightenment, where self has become the moral agent. Where the Divine has been eliminated from intellect, science and morality. Call it relativist, utilitarianism or whatever; its all the same evil. This is the failure of the school systems over the last 100 years; of intellectual Darwinism over the last 200 years come to fruition. When the Divine is pushed aside, relativism and chaos take its place.

When man “Man is the measure of all things”, epic societal failure follows; giving way eventually to totalitarianism and governmental servitude.

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” (Proverbs 14:12) This is the road this society is on; running full speed toward the precipice of destruction.

    • Anonymous

Right, however, please keep in mind, there is nothing “intellectual” about Darwinism :-)

      Darwinism is intellectual suicide.

“The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good.” (Psalm 14:1)

      • Anonymous

Doesn’t matter what smarter people think. The whole point of the intellectual foolishness of the Enlightenment was to seperate out the Divine from everything. To elevate mankind to a place above God and give man the right to be his own moral agent. Why? As Huxley said:” the idea of a God interfered with their sexual mores”. I’m paraphrasing but you get the point.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1497076194 Travis Pierson

The people who claim to believe Darwinism are the ones fighting hardest to prevent its reality. They are the ones who are fighting to prevent the loss of species, such as the Giant Panda, which have seemingly self-selected extinction. And if we, the highest primates have, through a series of superior mutations, gained advantage over other species, doesn’t Darwinism allow us to exploit that advantage to our greatest benefit? Darwinism makes no account for stewardship. Dominion (the prudent use of, tempered by sound judgment, wisdom and common sense) over the earth and animals is a purely human trait which was among God’s first commandments to Adam.

        • Anonymous

Great post. Never heard this argument before. Lots of meat on those bones. Thanks for giving me so much to think about.

        • Anonymous

“The people who claim to believe Darwinism are the ones fighting hardest to prevent its reality. “ WTF?

Reality? LOL. A theory is not a reality except in the minds of the liars who continue to teach a theory as a fact; proving once again that Hannah Arendt was correct in that: “Only the mob and the elite can be attracted by the momentum of totalitarianism itself. The masses have to be won by propaganda.”

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will … If you repeat a lie many times, people are bound to start believing it”. — Joseph Goebbels
          - Or –
The reality of Darwin is well illustrated in the lives of famous Darwinists like Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Yuri Irsenovich Kim and Hitler. When a people are considered animals or “highest primates” rather than human beings, made in the image and likeness of their Creator, then their existence is as servants of a state or dictator, to be used or destroyed as he/she sees fit. After all, what is right or wrong? Its whatever the state says it is. Darwinism removes the Divine from the Creation and reduces the created to a thing of less value.

Abortion is a perfect example. Oh its not a baby, it’s a thing; an anima, a fetus, not a human being who was fearfully and wonderfully made by the Divine.

“They are the ones who are fighting to prevent the loss of species, such as the Giant Panda, which have seemingly self-selected extinction” A non-point. Self-selected extinction? How does self “self-select”?

“And if we, the highest primates have, through a series of superior mutations, gained advantage over other species doesn’t Darwinism allow us to exploit that advantage to our greatest benefit.”

Superior mutations? What like cancer? All of nature rejects mutations of any sort. Fire ants reject queens that won’t produce, so do termites. Parrots will throw their young from the nest if the young are sickly or have any physical defect. Only the strong survive in nature, The mutated die.

Darwinism is the end result of Enlightenment intellectuals who in Huxley’s words embraced Darwinism because “the idea of a God somehow interfered with their sexual mores”, Where there is no God, then anything goes. There’s no right, no wrong. People can do what is right in their own eyes. Mankind becomes his own moral arbiter. Darwinism is just another iteration of societal nihilism.

“Greatest benefit?” And what would that be? A nation without God? A university system who is more interested in tenure and grant monies than veritas? OWS maybe?

“Darwinism makes no account for stewardship.” Which has to do with what exactly? You’ve attempted to link two dissimilar thoughts while criticizing Darwinism and embracing it at the same time.

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.” (Matt 6:24)

          Make up your mind.

Dominion and Darwinism have nothing in common with one another.

Dominion was God’s command to mankind to rule and subdue the earth and everything in it. (Gen 1:28) If a wolf menaces a farmer’s herd, that farmer has the permission of his Creator to eliminate that threat. That’s dominion.
Darwinism denies the Creation account and therefore Adam is a non-player. Macro-evolution is debunked in the Creation account which states that nature reproduces after its own kind. (Gen 1:11) One kind does not morph into another kind.

Paul the apostle in Romans, said all that needs to be said about leftist philosophy and of the Godlessness that all of its iterations embrace., be it Darwinism, utilitarianism, relativism, communism, Marxism, et al; and of the inferiority of the human intellect. Rather than thinking God’s thoughts after Him as Kepler so wisely stated, Paul summed up the state of learning in the modern world succinctly in Romans 1:20-22:

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools”

          Dude, your arguments are fallacious.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1497076194 Travis Pierson

You obviously missed my point because you made exactly the same point regarding dominion – specifically that it has no place in Darwinism. You and I are totally on the same page. I’m sorry I wasn’t more clear.

I was making a purely philosophical argument, speaking of Darwinism in the broadest, “survival of the fittest” sense (which is a reality) and using this premise as a bludgeon against those who claim to believe it but refuse to accept the consequences as they would play out should nature really be allowed to take its course. For example: I am large and quite strong. In a Darwinian world, I would be allowed to use my size, strength and cunning to kill and eat a smaller, weaker competitor and take his possessions and his mate. We don’t accept this behavior because we are not animals. I used the example of the Giant Panda because the species only exists today because of human intervention. The animals show no interest in breeding, either in the wild or in captivity, and they are horrible at taking care of their young. As a species they have given up. In a Darwinian world, they should be allowed to expire.

I think Darwin’s theory of evolution is utter nonsense that lacks any scientific evidence of being a reality. The fossil record never shows any case of one species becoming another species. Instead, what it shows is numerous species existing for a period then going extinct and being replaced thousands of years later by massively greater numbers of unrelated species.

I believe man is of divine origin and is God’s greatest creation, which is why we must exercise dominion over the earth and use the resources He has provided in wisdom and with an attitude of thanksgiving.

            • Anonymous

“That the strongest survive in the animal kingdom is really nothing but an observation”

I spent 2 years in the tropics, and was able to observe nature on its own without any interference from anyone in my BN or the BDE. And only the strong survive is a natural fact. An observed fact.

Still feels like you’re looking for an argument and disagreement where neither exists.

                • Anonymous

Nope. If you want to argue science then learn its terms. If you want to use logic in an argument, then don’t group dissimilar thoughts together. Do that with a Darwinist and you’ll get eaten alive.

                • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1497076194 Travis Pierson

I made two separate points in my first reply to you. Everyone else got it, but you don’t seem to be able to separate them in your brain despite the fact that we agree. You can choose to accept that… or not. I have given up trying to explain it to you. Bye.

                • Anonymous

And you still misunderstand terms. But that’s just fine. You still got no chance against a devoted Darwinist. And yeah, they would eat your lunch. No explanation is necessary. Your thought process on the original missive was strictly 8th grade work. Bye to yourself bud.

The “occupiers” here self-destructed after the County Commissioners (all Dems ironically) passed a no camping on county property ordinance. Three days later County Road Dept. crews accompanied by Sheriff’s Deputies moved on the encampment on the Courthouse lawn. Only one dingbat decided he would fight and was promptly taken to the County “motel”. The so-called “general assembly” stated that they would be focusing on the Federal Courthouse about 4 blocks away. They have yet to arrive there, I think they got lost.

It’s getting time for a National Guard level crackdown on this garbage. Even in the few instances in which they have remained peaceful, the first amendment does not give them the right to block traffic or interrupt commerce. If they don’t first get a permit for their parade, they should be surrounded, detained, drug tested, searched, cited, and then taken into custody or forcefully dispersed and left to the mercy of the court system.

Wonder who that dude was who said, “You really don’t want to break up an occupy camp because stuff gets worse.” He looked too clean to be an actual occupier, but his tone of voice was infuriatingly smug. And his identity was of course carefully hidden. I’d bet he was one of the organizers behind the scenes.

It has become clear to me that we are a society that is increasingly unable to govern itself. This is a result of the socialist state imposed on us where nearly 50% of our population has no vested interest other than to suck wealth from the other 50%. I see something very bad coming very soon (anarchists like OWS who may tip our country to near revolution).
