Perry defends Marines, attacks WH for handling of ‘urinating’ incident

A nice clip here from Perry where he acknowledges that the Marines who urinated on the dead Taliban made a mistake and should be disciplined, but he doesn’t spend any time giving them guff about it. Instead he aims his attacks at the White House for suggesting this was a criminal act:

    Oliver North related in one of his books about either a Gunny or CO patrolling his units perimeter trench when he came across a Marine sleeping on guard duty in the trench. The Gunny urinated on the Marine and when the Marine woke up he jumped up out of the trench angry, wet, scared, ready to kill, the Gunny ordered him at-ease and asked the Marine ” No Marine would ever fall asleep on guard duty and allow someone to piss down their neck would they” the Marine came to his senses and said “No” there was never another word about it. I would not give these Marines anything less than that suggested NATO medal for Courageous Restraint.

        FYI things like that happen all the time, oh innocent one. War is SERIOUS. GI’s are the greatist men we have ever had. They are not liberal nuts. I would ban news people from the battle field. Many enemies of the USA, have wired the enemy,of vital data, in their guise as US reporters. A small tour might give you more repect. As Patton also said, it is hard to be a objective observer, with the blood and guts of your best friend all over you. Patton, reguardless of what you may have heard, was the general,the Nazis feared more than anyone, that includes ole mild Ike. And, I will add, Patton learned the hard way, not at some liberal college.

I sure hope you meant to reply to someone else with this post, since I am neither unsupportive nor innocent. I’ve been out there, just not in DIRECT combat (I was Essential Military Personnel…you sound like you may know what that means…).

        Anne, I appreciate your sentimate, but they are kids, doing men’s work. I guess, you have never seen a war vet, on his first date. So naive, they have to be told not to go to certain bars. Sometimes, it angers me, how they are treated, because of DC directives. Viet Nam was such a big example on how not to manage a war, by the great JFK. I also dislike a public, trying to use civilian power to destroy, or run an army. The UCOMJ, is in place. As, for me, God bless them all.

          JFK did get us involved in Vietnam, but at the time we only had advisors over there. We did not get fully involved into a “police action” until about 1965. JFK was killed in 1963. Vietnam was mismanaged by Lyndon B. Johnson’s administration. Nixon had hell of a time cleaning up the mess by pulling us out in a manner that didn’t look like we were tucking our tails between our legs.

      I don’t think they deserve any discipline at all. I think their actions were actually good for the morale of our troops who are being forced into ridiculous PC actions that put our soldiers in harms way on a daily basis.

    Whats the big problem? The Taliban have done far worse to our people. Beheadings, burning them and defecating on our people are just a few that come to mind. Those Marines did nothing wrong.
    And to echo DebbieX, the criminals are ‘occuping’ the White House!
    Leave the Marines alone, although a sock party is recogminded for the fool who posted the vid on line. Former and present servicemen know what a ‘sock party’ is.

    Well if we’re going to go all PC here as Ms. Cowlike wants us too, I think that maybe the news media needs to find out what these Taliban “gentlemen” were doing before they were “dispatched” and “wet on”.

    Were the Taliban gentlemen aiming high-powered automatic weapons at these Marines with the intent to do them harm? I’m pretty certain they weren’t throwing poseys or inviting the Marines to share some camel jerky with them or the Marines wouldn’t have dispatched them. I think Ms. Cowlike needs to do some investigative reporting. Perhaps in a Taliban camp.

    On just another note, the media worries soooo much about “how the world perceives us” and yet they not only cannot wait to report stories like this, they play them over and over and over. I also noticed that **not one** of these media outlets has bothered to go into their archives and show any of the video from that little “incident” in Mogadishu involving the bodies of our soldiers, or of the incident in Iraq with the contractors. What’s the matter media? Were those incidents just a bit too gruesome for you?? Or don’t they play into your “All American Soldiers are Bad” meme?

    Have just intercepted a classified Intel Report on this ‘situation’.

    The true story is this: As the marines approached the dead enemy combatants (DECs), they saw the fires of hell springing up about to swallow up the DECs before they could be given a proper Islamic burial. With water being so scarce in that area, the resourceful Marines acted promptly and did what they had to do in a moment of dire emergency.

    Because these Marines were actually committing an act of selfless mercy, they will be quietly given Medals and Commendations (though there will not and cannot be a public ceremony under the circumstances).

    I tend to agree with Perry’s assessment.

    However, I am very troubled by how quick we are to send our youth into an environment that is so psychologically damaging. Thousands of them come home so scarred that they will not be normal for the rest of their lives. A very high price we are paying.

    Levin and Allen West nailed the Marine peeing thing. Day after day fighting an enemy who doesn’t always play fair….day after day missing your home and family back home. I was just in the Navy so I can’t relate totally to what a Marine goes through…I feel fairly certain…some days…a dead enemy just isn’t good enough.

    Okay, this is personal, I admit it. Soldiers go out, get killed, maimed, and destroyed, for this country. Yes, they shoot back, and kill people. They do it, so we do not do it in NYC. This travesty, which is the same as the media bashing Gen Patton for slapping a milingerer, during WW2, is the same thing. Shame on the media for showing this c##p. Shame shame shame.
