I was suspicious of this when the first story came out that Palin wasn’t invited to speak at the RNC in August. I posted it in the headlines but I was wondering if invitations had even been sent. Well, according to what Reince Priebus told the Chris Stigall Show, the agenda has not even been set yet and probably won’t be until the 2nd week of August. Also, Christie hasn’t been picked to be the keynote either.

Priebus says don’t believe all the rumors:

The RNC and the Romney campaign would have to be totally brain dead to not invite the first Republican woman ever to run on a Presidential ticket! WTF. Talk about "out of touch", holy blunder batman. Not to mention, she, ENERGIZES the party like NOBODY on the scene today. Not Christie, Not Ryan, certainly not Romney or that guy Portman (who?!), can fire up the convention like Palin can. Are they FORGETTING the utterly amazing knock-'em-dead historic speech she gave at the convention in 2008??? It was one of the best political speeches in modern history. What the hell could they possibly be thinking????

I've told the RNC and the Romney campaign, and I'll KEEP telling them. Not one red cent until Palin and the Tea Party are given all due respect. Keep it up suckers.

Even the dimmest light bulbs among us realize that the two Political Parties that represent most of the power in this country, don't want anyone rocking the boat. Sarah Palin and people like her, rock the boat. Most of you, even the very right wing Conservatives among us, don't realize that Sarah Palin is not just a Rogue Politician out there stirring up trouble. Sarah represents those Americans like myself, who don't really believe or trust either party. I watch the Democrats and I don't trust anything they say, because I know it's all a damned lie. i watch the Republicans and i don't trust anything they say, because I know most of it is a damned lie. Small difference there, as you may have noted. This country has gone so far down the wrong road, that it is difficult to trust anyone in Politics. i may be one of a very few Americans who still believe in what the Founders believed in, but our numbers are growing, thank God. Sarah Palin is part of what we believe in. So is Colonel Allen West. There is a growing number of American Citizens who object to Socialism. i am not a fortune teller. Great civilizations have risen and fallen before. America is itself, almost a carbon copy of the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, for much of the same reasons. Greed, Corruption, the assumption of massive debt to support a lifestyle that the actual GDP of the country could no longer support. I give us one chance in three. Sarah Palin is not the problem. You and I are the problem and if we are to save what's left of this Republic, we have to get our act together. By all indications, we had better do it soon.

You are so right, Our major problem is that our party is afraid because they dont want to appear controversial while the libs are out there destroying our country but I have faith that america will stand up to tyranny, i just believe that there is more of us than there is of them.

Reince Priebus is a HACK PERIOD and I want to see his tax records! RNC chairman or an operative for the Repubic party to keep anybody out that are not the party line! Give me a break! This guy has NEVER had a REAL JOB!

All I can say is if the RNC decides 2 weeks before the convention who the speakers will be then they are a pretty pathetic organization. Waiting until literally the last minute to finalize the schedule of speakers or even who they paln to invite for their big event make they look pretty fly-by-night and disorganized. Not the well-oiled machine that one wants to lead our nation during our present crisis.

The agenda and speakers are not set yet for a Convention next month and maybe not until the 2nd week of August? Who is running this, class school president? O M G!!!

If the Establishment SNUBS Sarah...it WILL hurt Romney and PISS off Lots of us Conservatives...WHAT ARE they thinking. I was just starting to warm up to Romney! Then they throw Christie in there....and it reminds me of having to hold my nose LAST TIME! Christie would NOT let Sarah come campaign for him! I almost hate the Establishment RINO's as much as this REGIME!

So Reince answered a question on a Philly radio show, much the same as Mrs. Palin did for Newsweek. He and the RNC work with Romney and his campaign on who is selected and then include the host committee in Tampa. He has no idea if Palin will be invited but assures us Christie is a big guy but doesn't know what night he will speak. Sounds like he and Governor Palin are each telling the truth. As reported, steely silence from the Romney folks, when asked. Not reassuring to me, on the Palin question. It is what it is at this point.

You never want to show your cards too soon, especially when dealing with bottom feeders. They have research on every possible candidate and will commence the smear campaign as soon as they are announced. They are looking for another shiny object for people to focus on so they can avoid defending the Nigerian Nightmare.

Nice to see the circular firing squad alive and well here . All this was started by TIME MAGAZINE , you know that bastion of conservatism . Everyone else who responded including Palin was taking their cue from that. Read Reagan's second rule , hint , you won't find it in TIME magazine

They are such slow learners. Chris Christie doesn't excite the tea party. We are so used to wimps in the Party that they think he is dynamic or something. They have no common sense. Aren't there any Conservatives at the RNC?

JRD1
JRD1

NO there aren't. That's the problem.

MiBones

Ok, here is my conspiracy theory ;). The RNC/Romney people sent out their trial balloon with several names like Christie and Mia B Love to see if this was acceptable to the Tea Party/Conservatives. Found out it's not and now can say that all of this speculation is just rumors. Mission accomplished, better bring Sarah in.

If Palin not invited is untrue, Priebus should stop the lie before it has spread as far as it has. He is reacting in slow motion like cowardly RINOs do and that is not acceptable to anybody but other RINOs. RINOs are about to become extinct and don't even know it. Take America back, one RINO at a time.

Donya G

Maybe Priebus is reacting to some reports (not sure) by the RNC call centers representatives that conservatives were hanging up on their faces because of the Sarah Palin's been snubbed reported earlier. Priebus is now backtracking. I told one of the RNC caller the other night that they're not getting support from me or any from my family because of the way the GOPEs and RNC treating Gov. Palin.

Sounds like rumors will be flying from now until the primary and then the election...and then the lame duck and then the inauguration. The shadows will not go quietly back to their corners and will try to spread as much darkness and dissention and distrust among us as possible.

On the other hand, if they WERE considering not inviting her and now have changed their minds, that is also good news, because that would mean our strong, relentless wind is blowing them in our direction. Keep it up.

NoToTyrants

Exactly!

If Tea Party Conservatives weren't holding their feet to the fire, can you imagine how "moderate" and milquetoast the GOPe would be right now.

Keep up the pressure!

It would be absolutely wrong to deny Sarah Palin the opportunity to speak at the Republican national convention in Tampa. She is a former Vice Presidential candidate and she is a devoted conservative who is tirelessly promoting both Republican and conservative values across America. To deny one of the most staunch and prolific voices of conservatism, would be to deny the tenants of the Republican Party going forward as the Party of the people and of limited government. Dissing Sarah Palin would be the female equivalent of our Founding Father's castigating Patrick Henry because he was too pro-American. It would have been unthinkable back then and it would be unthinkable for the RNC and Republicans to do so today concerning conservative stalwart Sarah Palin.

capelady
capelady

Can you say "backtracking"??? They NEED the conservatives votes and are pandering big time - never mind the way they united behind Romney to trash every conservative challenger during the primary! They saved their "nice" act for Obama!

Don't worry... we will vote AGAINST Obama, but that doesn't mean we have to approve of Romney!

MPK12

Well, Mr. Priebus, that's kind of clear as mud.....

the *rumor* about Gov. Palin, the 08 GOP candidate for VP, has set off a fire storm of anger that will definitely come back to hurt Romney. ANY insult or snub to her is an insult to her MANY supporters, who's votes Romney will need, if he wants to win.

Conventions are the time to bring the party together.....not shoot yourself in the foot.

celestiallady

On another note, rumors are one thing and then there are those who don't wait to see if they are true or not and slam everyone under the sun because they disagree. Good honest people can get hurt in that process. I am glad Priebus spoke up and calmed some of the hate - on all sides.

In 2008 sarah was chosen to give a speech for the convention, but then was chosen to run with mccain, both were right before the convention.

There were 27 speakers in 2008, some not able to make it because of the hurricane that year. I do not think there is a list this early.

RNC would have to be idiots to snub Palin. She is Tea Party candy.

Orangeone

They would be smart to leave her outside of the convention. She would only distract from the messages we need to hear from the presidential candidate and his VP selection as well as key stumpers like Christie. The media needs to cover them and leave the last candidates McCain/Palin on the sidelines. She is stumping for Tea Party candidates and that is not Romney.

JRD1
JRD1

Yeah, he does that and conservatives stay home. We already hate his lying Etch-a-sketch guts. Push it and you get 4 more of Obama! We flippin' mean it. Capito?

MaroonRepublic

Screw the media. You don't think the media will play up the snubbing of Palin to create a further rift between conservative Republicans and moderates?

Romney needs the Tea Party people to be excited and not feel as though the "the establishment" is back handing the conservatives.

It's not just the presidential election being waged in Nov.. We have Senate seats that are needed and we need to keep our House majority. The Tea Party is what will carry us over the finish line.

I hope so too Orangeone. It's important to come together now and defeat Obama.

Orangeone

Today's events and the media's response once again, is the perfect platform for Palin to speak on at the convention. She has 2 very clear events that she can highlight, and do it with all respect to the families and Americans as she has always done. The media is trying to flame more violence and she is the one to best address it.

Hi MaroonRepublic, the Governor has no control of her overshadowing, you remember her first book tour stop, she was so surprised to see folks lining up the night before in sleeping bags in freezing weather just to see her and get their book sign. Sarah Palin has an authentic connection to the grassroots.

Sarah will overshadow Romney and any other politician on any stage by just being herself. Romney is the nominee what better way to unite the party than by having the Governor on stage introduce him, can you picture the visuals and the energy in the place.

This should be about coming together and defeating Obama but we are talking about the corrupt establishment who have tried every backstabbing, slander and lie to destroy the reputation of Sarah Palin.

When Sarah says we need sudden and relentless reform and she speaks out on the cronyism in Washington they fear her because they cannot buy her off and also because she has that connection of trust with the folks, the same folks they are ashamed of.

JRD1
JRD1

He is talking but his actions have spoken louder. We don't trust him as far as we can throw him and we are going to be on his azz as much as we are on Obama's.

If he manages to win and you think the Tea Party won't demonstrate against him if he screws us you've got another think coming.

What do you think we are racist?

JRD1
JRD1

There is nothing Tea party about Etch-a-sketch.

If we take the senate it will be in SPITE of Etch-a-sketch.

Orangeone

I hope we are wrong.  Romney committed to a conservative and I can't think of someone more conservative.  He has also fought for the freedoms we still enjoy and is a demonstrated leader.

MaroonRepublic

West would be a dream. The left would freaking crap themselves if he was the choice. I agree that Romney would never choose him.

Orangeone
Orangeone

I don't trust Rubio with his DREAM act.  I trust Christie a heck of a lot more.  Frankly, I would prefer Allen West but thinking Romney won't go there.

MaroonRepublic
MaroonRepublic

I can live with Christie. I would like Rubio out of everyone being seriously mentioned.

I want a VP that's very comfortable at being conservative. Can articulate it in a way that everyone understands and can relate to. Christie can do that and I do like his fire. He will not back down. He and Scott Walker had a huge job to do in those blue states and were able to get it done.

Orangeone
Orangeone

I hope you are right but she isn't the shy-kinda girl which is why true conservatives got behind her in 2008 and the 2010 elections.  I don't want them to snub her but the stage is about the current team.  I hope Romney picks Christie.  Yes he is giving the key note but there is no law that says he can't be the VP.  How great would it be for Romney to come on stage after Christie finishes and say: "What do you think of our next Vice President?"

MaroonRepublic
MaroonRepublic

I still disagree. You are still buying into the media's narrative about Palin. She scares them and so they want to marginalize her.

Maybe ask her to not overshadow anyone but her being snubbed could make some Tea Party conservatives stay home on principle. Can't risk that in this election.

Romney will be fine. He has found his voice and it's sounding very conservative. He needs to keep it up.

Orangeone
Orangeone

Better than the distractions with her statements.  We need them to use the candidates' statements and keep the focus there.  She is out stumping for Tea Party Senators and Reps and that is the best use of her talents and presence, and it is working out there!  Mitt has finally, and I mean finally, found a voice that people are listening to and he needs to keep with that focus.
