Doug Edwards has nothing in common with the working class or the unemployed. He knows he has the option of paying more taxes voluntarily without asking. Besides, if I remember correctly, I believe congress is the only branch of the federal government that has the power to raise taxes, not the president. Regardless, if Doug Edwards wants to pay more taxes, just do it voluntarily without the partisan show. If he really wants to help the poor, he should be investing in homeless shelters and employing social workers to help rehabilitate the down and trodden and stop his vain complaining about not paying enough taxes.

Success didn't come from government grants or government scholarships. It came from Google, from the private sector. How can we miss that point?

And keep in mind there pal, when you do volunteer to pay that extra, it's not going to put money in my wallet for grocery day. The only thing that would do that is if my husband gets a job.
At the same rate, the rich already pay more. Their rate is higher. Buffet is an exception at 17.4%. Those in his income category, above $10 million/year pay an avg. of 22%. By chance its the only lower % compared to lower incomes -- those earning $1-10 million pay 24%.
Buffet's secretary doe not pay less % than him. He is flat out wrong in claiming that. He is referring to top rate, not the effective rate.
This looks like a setup to me... staged, scripted... no way was this a spontaneous, randomly chosen person whom Obama did not know beforehand.
This Doug Edwards is the classic example of the definition of a "Useful Idiot", if setting up charitable grants for education is what he wants to do, he could do it himself a whole lot more efficiently than the government ever could.

So write a check to the US Treasury. Why can't liberals understand this simple concept? Treasury is more than happy to get the additional "revenue".
The ones in that room that qualify as wealthy will be buying waivers with their donations. The rest think they'll be the beneficiaries of the redistribution.
Oh, right, as if the guy doesn't have an accountant making sure he pays the least amount possible. All he has to do is not take the personal deduction to start, and then he can simply donate money to the government. If he wants to provide money for Pell grants, why not set up a trust fund for scholarships or donate to a foundation that does that? Does he really think he can't do something with his own money better than the government can? That's simply pathetic!
Even more pathetic is how transparent this set-up was and that some people won't even see it for what it is but still get to vote.
Why didn't the guy just write a check for a couple million right there and hand it to Barry? Ohhh he wasn't actually talking about his own taxes, he was speaking for everyone in his income bracket. I see.

Until Mr. Edwards does this, his pleas to pay more seem a bit hollow. He doesn't need Obama to raise his taxes, he could do that himself if he wasn't a flaming pile of crap hypocrite. No, Mr. Edwards needs Obama to raise everyone Else's taxes, not his own. Put your money where your mouth is Mr. Edwards, or shut the hell up.
While Mr. Edwards might be in a position to ask Obama to raise his taxes because he's been "so lucky" to have lived in Silicon Valley and to have worked with a "small startup search engine" that did very, very well, other Americans will get caught up in the wide net he's begging the IRS to cast over the rest of us. Some of us who are, truly "lucky" to still have good paying jobs, are seeing little or no raises, bonuses, or signs that we can weather the current economic environment indefinitely. But let's keep stoking the "us and them" class warfare narrative being fed by Obama and his audience stooges. If Mr. Edwards, Warren Buffet, Gill Gates, or any other "rich fat cats" want to throw more of their capital to the Government for redistribution, have at it!! But it appears to me that the views expressed by this sycophant plant in the audience isn't widely shared among most productive, hardworking Americans. Nothing personal, Mr. Edwards, but don't be surprised if you get a call from a Hollywood Agent very, very soon… ;-)

I agree that "the guy in the back" was a plant from Google. The striking thing about this question and Obama's response is that he did not offer an answer to the question after it was asked or even during the following pause. It was as if he knew there was more Obama propaganda coming.
NEWS FLASH FOR THE WEALTHY:
You don't have to wait for the government to raise you taxes to pay your fair share. You can pay 50%-100% of your income if you really want to.
Silicon Valley is full of rich, pampered fanboys that are completely divorced from reality. Proof? How many of you would pay 35 grand to re-elect someone who would raise your taxes while lying to your face?
If a person wants to pay more to the government than they already do in taxes, they can make a voluntary donation to the Treasury Department under a special account established in 1843 - "Gifts to the United States". If they feel that they are not being taxed enough, then they can stroke a check.
So if he's unemployed by choice and our dear pres raises his taxes wouldnt that mean that taxes on nothing is still nothing????

If this guy wants to have a direct affect on society by investing in students and the youth, then he needs to drive himself over to the nearest youth organization and ask how he can help....but this genius thinks letting Washington tax more of us will directly benefit the causes he cares about--and even in an efficient way that maximizes his investment! If I had all the money I needed, I would retire too. I'm also sure that I would direct some of my time to helping others. There is plenty of time to do so. In the course of a day, 99% of America is at their job working (correction-less than 90% under Obama). That means that there is little else to do with your day other than run errands, do chores, or sit on your butt. That would get old for me around week 2. I can just imagine this guy with a stack of potato chips carefully balanced on his greasy T-shirt while he is surfing the internet in his pajamas all day.
had to add...did anyone notice that the guy never appeared on the screen? could it be that the Obama team doesn't want their plant getting the "joe the plumber" treatment? We wouldn't want anyone investigating his past like they did ole Joe. Perhaps finding out that he's a liar and a plant.
I'm still trying to figure out how Obama got rich never working in the private sector himself? How did he get to go to those great schools if he was from humble beginnings? How does he pull in millions per year? How did he afford to live in that nice neighborhood in Chicago? Perhaps his world view of the rich is shaped by his own life experience?
Writing books can be lucrative, but that wouldn't explain his money.
Immunity to insider trading laws will explain his money since he took office...just sayin
If I were there (about a 0.000002 chance on that), I'd ask him that since he is one of the wealthy, let him pony up some extra coin to the IRS - make a few cutbacks, like to the golf games, the trips, the flights and on and on and on.
IF he's legit and not a plant (2% chance), it's not that he really wants to pay more, he just wants the government to take more from his neighbors.
