Allen West takes off his jacket and breaks out in song. It’s great!

Good job Col. West. Orbison is tough to replicate.

Aw, Alan West is just the kind of real people we need.

I mean, how uplifting, unselfconscious - in the face of all that's so seriously going on...is this?

What an admirable man!

Damn, got to love those Black politicians and that inherited soulfulness that comes with it. Ever need a morale boost, just sing an old motown joint

Some will think that is insensitive of you but half my family is from South Western Louisiana and I know what you are talking about. I learned to drink and listen to jazz in Preservation Hall, in New Orleans.

Allen West can't sing. With that said, I wouldn't mind seeing him on the GOP ticket. Pick Rick! Santorum/West 2012!

Great to see Allen West having some fun. It takes a heck of a lot of bravery and self confidence to do something like that. (I know I wouldn't attempt to sing in front of a crowd.)

What a great man who can also show his down to earth side, which we haven't seen in the past.

Hmmm Allen West for president in 2016 or VP in 2012. ABO 2012

That being said that performance made my ears bleed. It's clear that he's an amateur with no real training. He's singing in the wrong key. He's trying to sing in Roy Orbison's key instead of his own. That's a natural mistake that amateurs make. Don't give up your day job Col West. You're great at that.

I'm glad he's a much better American Patriot that he is a singer. That said, I'd love to see him a Secretary of Defense. THAT would frost a whole bunch of people, especially those that railroaded him for protecting his troops. Plus, IMNSHO be a huge moral boost to our troops.

Scoop since it is an open thread.

I wanted to thank Rshill7 again for the article he linked to in the "Santorum Ad post"

http://www.politijim.com/2012/02/dear-speaker-gingrich.html

Rshill7 tell your wife a fan is grateful for her digging this up. and QUOTING you "How quickly we forget. How easily swayed we are. How willing to believe lies, and the "more electable" BS we are spoonfed."

I also read the other article " Those Damn Narcissists - Like Newt" that I lifted these lines from:

I mean, who the hell does Newt Gingrich think he is, thinking that he can orchestrate a take over of political power for conservatives when the country is mesmerized by a slick talking, slick looking liberal?

...(Oh yeah. I forgot. He actually did that once).

And why does he think only HE can get rid of a Democrat corruption, stop spending and actually start paying down the debt?

(Oh yea. I forgot he did that too.)

Grandiose thinkers like Bill Gates don’t even think they have to finish college to approach a highly technical industry like computers – much less do business with International Business Machines. I think I’ve told you that I know an investor who met a kid who couldn’t even conduct himself in a professional manner and tried to get an investment for his computer company WITHOUT EVEN WEARING A SUIT! Who the hell do these people think they are!!

This speech he gave in 94 after the election and prior to being sworn in as Speaker shows the visions he has for America, and even then he was asking for other to be with him because it takes more than voting for someone, going home and expecting them to make the changes with out your continued support.

It is 46 minutes long and worth it.

That c-span video....

If Newt Gingrich will attack the task at hand as President the way he did when he became Speaker there is actually hope for the US...hope for us!

he MUST be our nominee

FreeManWalking

I think he will do just that, which is the reason he is my first choice!

MaxineCA
MaxineCA

Thanks for re-posting, I must have missed it first time around. I just watched the last link (c-span), and you were right, an absolutely must see! I was amazed that Newt was dealing with the same issues 18 years ago, and had great solutions back then as he does today. Newt is still my first choice, Rick second, and the other 2 are "hold my nose to vote" candidates, which I'm tired of doing.

FreeManWalking

Thank Rshill7 for bringing it up all together.

That speech was awesome. It also speaks to the truth about the attacks of his part as a player when Reagan came to power too.

I think what Newt tried to accomplish as Speaker has a lot to do with why the establishment GOP is against him now.

FreeManWalking

Thanks Maxine: I totally agree. As for Scoop posting, it would be nice if he did, but like you I think most of us here are here because of the way Scoop runs the site.

MaxineCA
MaxineCA

I think you are correct that the establishment (D's & R's all) fear him the most. Good enough for me! I was disappointed that we haven't seen much of him lately but saw him tonight with Greta, and I think I understand his strategy. I sure wish Scoop would post that '94 c-span speech. He solved problems then and I have confidence he would solve them now. Newt is one smart guy not only in the obvious ways, but is a planner and strategic thinker.

Just like with policies, Rep. West can give a full song, while all Obama can do is a five word soundbite.

Bring it on. West gets the nod, and Barry gets the hook. Sweet.
