Rep. Mike Rogers swatted over the weekend

Rogers has been in the news a lot lately on the discussing the Boston bombing and how the Boston bomber was read his Miranda rights too quickly. It’s no wonder someone has targeted him:

WOOD TV – The heavy police presence seen outside of Congressman Mike Rogers’ Howell home on Saturday night was called there because of an “unfortunate prank,” the congressman said in a statement.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department told WILX that it was “a high-priority situation.” Police cleared the scene by 10:45 p.m. Saturday.

Rogers released a statement Sunday —

“Last night police investigated a threat to our home in Howell. I appreciate the quick and professional response of the Howell Police Department and the Livingston County Sheriff. While this turned out to be an unfortunate prank, it is a reminder of the the real threats faced by our law enforcement community every day.”

Despite contrary reports, a SWAT team was never called to the scene.
