Rep. Peter King won’t attend NY Republican fundraising dinner because Sen. Ted Cruz is keynote

Peter King is letting his true RINO show:

SALON – Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., said he will not attend a big Republican fundraising dinner, because although his schedule might have prevented it anyway, once he heard Sen. Ted Cruz was the headliner, it “made it easy.”

“I don’t think we should be acknowledging people who are voting against us in our hour of need,” King told BuzzFeed, referring to Cruz’s vote against federal relief funding in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

“Once I found it was him,” King continued, “I decided not to go. I don’t know if I would have gone or not because of scheduling things, but that made it easy once I found out it was Ted Cruz.”

Ted Cruz voted against the relief bill because it was laden with PORK:

Emergency relief for the families who are suffering from this natural disaster should not be used as a Christmas tree for billions in unrelated spending, including projects such as Smithsonian repairs, upgrades to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration airplanes, and more funding for Head Start.

Two thirds of this spending is not remotely “emergency”; the Congressional Budget Office estimates that only 30% of the authorized funds would be spent in the next 20 months, and over a billion dollars will be spent as late as 2021.

This is why Peter King is part of the problem. He’s a big government Republican who is willing to just give Democrats whatever they want so he can get what he wants…all the while the entire country circles the drain.

I’ll take Ted Cruz over Peter King any day of the week.
