I’m more convinced of this now than ever:

CBN NEWS – Regardless of how many Christians may have felt about the outcome of the 2012 election, Rev. Billy Graham offered one admonition: pray for the nation’s leaders.

“The Bible urges us to do so with both respect and thanksgiving,” America’s beloved evangelist wrote in a letter on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s website.

He suggested that the nation’s path to restoration won’t come through any human leader, but through repentance.

“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,” Rev. Graham quoted Acts 3:19-20.

No human leader, he added, has the power to solve America’s most fundamental problems.

Graham, who turned 94 Wednesday, made it clear his work as an evangelist was not done.

“I plan to spend the next 12 months, if God permits, doing all that I am able to do in helping to carry out a fresh vision God has given us-a vision to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every possible place in America by the time of my 95th birthday,” he said.

Graham’s words were softer in tone than those of his son, Franklin, who bluntly said on CNN that the president’s re-election put America on a “path of destruction.”

“We have God’s blessing as a nation. Scripture is clear. God blesses countries, but God also brings bedlam when countries turn their back on him. If we don’t obey his laws, He will withdraw his hand of protection,” the younger Graham warned.

I feel so heartsick when reading this and the comments. I do care for people and I really don't want to offend anyone, that is not my intent, but if you saw a blind person wandering aimlessly and injuring himself in the process, you would feel hurt at the sight. Sheep without a shepherd. Well here goes.

This election has been most revealing about Christians, even during the primaries I though Romney would never be selected, because he was Mormon and even Mr Graham listed Mormons as a cult on his website before endorsing him. Mormons are anti-Christ from what other Christians have told me, because they don't believe Jesus was God and that Mormons believe that like Jesus they themselves will become Gods ruling over their own planet (this is what I have been told). Yet those same Christians seem to have rejected Christ in favor of a Mormon. Christians are told not to even say a greeting to such a person.

I have seen and heard Christian leaders and commentators tells us that God told them that Mitt was going to win, that is was God's will, even Glen Beck (who I believe is also a Mormon) said that all the set backs in the campaign was God's doing because he was going to make it overwhelmingly clear who he wanted as President. So Christians backed and supported and voted for what they believe is an anti-Christ (Not The Anti-Christ but an anti-Christ).

What does this say to you? Well after losing, now Mr. Graham comes out and says what the Bible has all along said "No human leader has the power to solve America’s most fundamental problems." In fact not just America's but the World's problems. This is nothing new. Psalms 143:6 says "Don't put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there." and Jeremiah 10:23 says "O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps." and Romans 3:23 says "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard." Man rule only leads to what Ecclesiastes 8:9 says "All this I observed while applying my heart to all that is done under the sun, when man had power over man to his hurt."

Remember, Jesus taught us to pray in the Lord's prayer for God's Kingdom to come on Earth as it is in heaven. Doesn't that signal a change? Isaiah 33:22 says "For the LORD is our judge, our lawgiver, and our king. He will care for us and save us." He will do so by means of his Kingdom. Daniel 2:44 says "And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever," Notice, that it will not be in the hands of People.

So now only after losing does it seem people run back to God. (Glen Beck did say God sucks sometimes, How disrespectful because God didn't do what you wanted). If fact I hear Christian all the time talking about the end or the rapture so I don't understand why they are trying to save a sinking ship when they are going to be lifted away (unless they don't really believe that). I have never read on single scripture that even indicates that God is backing the US. In the battle of Armageddon all the governments are against God. So why are you trying to save a sinking ship especially when God is sinking it.

Mixing in with Politics only makes you compromise your Christian principles. When the nation of Israel put their trust in the might of the nations around them God called them a Harlot. Ezekiel 16:28-30 says "You played the whore also with the Assyrians, because you were not satisfied; yes, you played the whore with them, and still you were not satisfied. You multiplied your whoring also with the trading land of Chaldea, and even with this you were not satisfied. What a sick heart you have, says the Sovereign LORD, to do such things as these, acting like a shameless prostitute."

Election after election Christians go from one politician to the another never satisfied. You had George Bush for 8 years and yet he did not satisfy you. When they tried to make Jesus king, he ran away. Why do you think he did that? Remember in Luke 4:5-6, "Then the devil took him up and revealed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them," the devil said, "because they are mine to give to anyone I please. I will give it all to you if you will worship me." To have power in any of the Governments of this world requires one to bow to Satan.

So all a politician has to do is tell you what you want to hear and never follow through (like George). So you get yourself dirty for these men, you violate bible principles as you support them, spewing out hatred and abusive speech, which is a violation of Bible principles. 2 Timothy 2:24 says "A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people." This is not me saying this. Yet I can't believe the conduct of Christians, vicious, lying and downright hatred, I had a Christian pass along clearly racist images. See what this stuff cause Christians to sink to, they become like those whom they are against.

I came on this site once and basically tried to warn people about this and from the comments I believe if in the presence of some of those commenting I would have been physically assaulted. So I left, because I don't want to generate that response in people. However this is so serious, I am only asking you to do your diligent research, get into the Bible, trust only in God.

Thanks for listening.

the gop party always embraces Jesus, but not his teachings>>>the same politicias invoke God's name at every opportunity then disregard the teaching of Jesus Christ, who said it would be virually impossible for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven, but that giving to the poor and the sick would the same as giving to him. Their hypocrisy amazes me!!!

I guess if you discipline yourself to keep your eyes focused on God and the path He leads for us, you cannot go wrong. We may have to suffer because of those non-believers out here but God will never turn His back on us and they may be able to take everything away from us but they cannot ever take away our soul.

I understand why God sent a flood to destroy the wicked of the earth, there was just too damn many of them. I think round two is well overdue.

Galatiansch2vs20
Galatiansch2vs20

Only God can do the thing to people the thing all unbelievers should dread which you mention as a casual cuss word in your comment.

He provides the reason for the flood in His Word:

'Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

The LORD said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them."' -Genesis 6:5-7 NAS

He promised He would never again flood the earth.

'"I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth."'

-Genesis 9:11 NAS

The next time the earth is destroyed, this is the way God plans to do it:

'But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.' -II Peter 3:7 NAS

I want you to be ready to meet God, Whiteguy, not in fear (I John 4:18), but in the knowledge that you have been forgiven and belong to the Lord and will spend eternity with Him! I hope you will take time to participate in this and hear the Good News of Jesus Christ making a way of redemption:

I pray that God brings revival to us, through our repentance. With all the trials our country has faced in one destructive hurricane after another, I have failed to see repentance. We keep saying that we will rebuild. God will rebuild us if we turn back to Him, first in repentance, then in devotion through humility. We are essentially saying that we do not need God. We are short-sighted and blind. We fail to recognize God's hand in the events and therefore we blunder right on through, thinking that man will save the day. This is the original sin. The belief that man does not need God. We exist because of Him, and not for our own purposes. The sins of abortion and homosexuality are just the symptoms of a dying society, not the cause of it. The cause was the church failing to hold to the Truth, allowing Truth to be watered down to feel good cliches and platitudes. People feel that they don't need to attend church when it is no more than this. Legalism then exerts itself, trying to whip the church back into righteousness. That leads to extremisms in legalism and license (worship in any form and manner, even if it is repudiated in Scripture).

I pray that Billy Graham lives to see revival come, as that means it could come soon. I know many have been praying for revival/renewal. I pray that we don''t give up because we do not see results right away. And should it not come soon, we must continue to prepare for the things we read in Scripture that will come to those at the end. We must ready ourselves to face that day. We must help one another to face the persecution which is coming..and we can see it's arrival more clearly each day. May we not shrink back, but be ready to give an account for our faith and to stand before our Maker and Savior. I pray we are not ashamed in that day.

I believe just before this last election, Christians all over the place were of a repentance heart, and humbled before God. I heard of MANY churches/leaders fasting and praying etc for this election. They came out, they voted, they quoted scripture etc. WE did our part. Repentance means "to turn away". I think this election might have discouraged many Christians. "We repented, we stood for the things of God, and we lost." Thats what I hear. So, how long does a Christian have to "repent" in order for God to hear us?? Only once. He doesnt talk to us or not talk to us because of OUR failures, He talks to us because HE is GOD and isn't moved by us being "good". I personally believe whats happening is the end times. No matter what a Christian says or prays or believes, the book of Revelation MUST happen.

voluntarily of course (as my dad threw me in the river before that for swimming lessons).

Billy Graham's message is in direct contradiction to what the current culture says about Obama. It's subtle, and I wonder if the other side will get it.

Billy Graham sees the Truth. The problem is there are many Christian pastors and followers who believe Obama is a very Christian person and that his government intrusion is of the Christian beliefs. There are many member in the Christian Church who are pro gay marriage, pro radical environmental laws, and anti military, etc. They are misguided in their beliefs. Many main stream churches are too liberal for me. When I give to the United Methodist Church I know some of those dollars are going to the non conservative programs, nationally and internationally. I need to reconsider where I worship.

I think that the role of a human leader in the U.S. is to promote the positive vision of a hard working united society that doesn't left anyone behind. Instead many preferred Obama's chewing-gum and his corrupt business as usual. Who can understand that?

Galatiansch2vs20
Galatiansch2vs20

I said nothing of Christ waiting to come until people had their theology right to come and die on the cross. While I was still an enemy of Christ, He died for me. (Romans 5:10)

The call goes out to mankind to repent of sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Not everyone does believe, as the Scripture clearly teaches.

Christ says this to people in regards to false teachers:

"Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit." -Matthew 15:14 NAS

And Christians ought to follow Christ's example. Pointing out that Mormonism is a cult is one way to do this. It is not loving to suppress the truth. (Ephesians 4:15)

I don't claim to fully understand everything God is doing, but I know He will accomplish all His purposes and I can, with the assurance of God's Word and the faith God gifts me by the hearing of it (Romans 10:17), know that when any religion teaches contrary to the Gospel of Christ (Galatians 1:8), that religion is false and Christians have a duty to expose false teaching for what it is. Winning people to Christ and Christ's rescuing people from anything Satan uses to keep people from the knowledge of the Truth (including and definitely not limited to Mormonism) are my desires.

ItsJustDad
ItsJustDad

Christ came and sacrificed His life as payment for our sins, while we were yet sinners. He did not wait until we had our theology right or attended the right church. He gave up His own throne and the glory of Heaven to come to a lost world full of sinners, including a very religious and pious people who seem to believe they had been enlightened and had understanding of the scriptures and of the ways of God the Father.

And when He finally arrived at the age when it was time to begin His ministry, those enlightened ones, did not recognize Him or the work of the Father that He was doing. Do you really think that you understand everything our Heavenly Father is doing now in these last days? How foolish of you if you do. Please remember true Love is an action, not just words. Without Love you are nothing.

Galatiansch2vs20
Galatiansch2vs20

Your disagreement on false religions is not with me, it is with God.

Yes, I have read all of the book of John, heard it through also. May I encourage you to read it through several times?

The verse I quoted (John 3:18) says why some people are condemned. It is plain in Scripture that not all will be saved. Christ came the first time to save all the Father has given Him (John 10:29) by accomplishing the work of redemption for all who would ever believe. But there will be a day of judgement and not all will be saved. (See Matthew 25:31 to the end of the chapter.)

Christians are to test the spirits and false teaching is strongly condemned in Scriptures, an example for Christians to follow. (See I John 4:1, II Corinthians 10:5, II Peter chapter 2, I Timothy chapter 4) Someone was wrong who compromised by taking off all reference to Mormonism being a cult on Billy Graham's website.

Matthew 10:34-36 NAS Christ Jesus said:

'"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW; and A MAN'S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD. ..."'

ItsJustDad
ItsJustDad

Since we do not disagree on the false religions of this world, I will keep this short

You quoted me here:

You say, 'God does not bring a spirit of condemnation on those who do not have the truth in them, nor should we.'

You are utterly mistaken in the first part of this assertion. God condemns those who do not have the truth in them:

'Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.' -John 3:18 ESV

If we have already been condemned since Adam and Eve ate the apple, why would God send a Spirit of condemnation again?

Have you read the verse before John 3:18?

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved" John 3:17

Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." John 20:21 NIV

If our Heavenly Father did not send Jesus into this world to condemn it, and Jesus sent us in to the world as the Father sent Him, are we then to condemn it?

Galatiansch2vs20
Galatiansch2vs20

Christians are warned in that verse against anyone, even an angel, who would preach another gospel and the Mormon church say the Book of Mormon was given by an angel (actually a fallen angel, a demon) and they say it is inspired by the Holy Spirit (another gospel) which is a lie from Satan, the father of lies. Mormonism is a cult and teaches false doctrine.

A point I am making is, whoever took Mormonism off the cult list on Billy Graham's website after Billy Graham met with Mitt Romney did the wrong thing.

I do have love toward the lost. I hate my Enemy, Satan who is blinding the eyes of the lost with things such as the cult of Mormonism.

You say, 'God does not bring a spirit of condemnation on those who do not have the truth in them, nor should we.'

You are utterly mistaken in the first part of this assertion. God condemns those who do not have the truth in them:

'Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.'

-John 3:18 ESV

'"You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies."' -John 8:44 NAS

I have encountered Mormons on this site whom I have prayed for and tried to share the Gospel with.

Mormonism, Buddhism, Islam, and atheism amongst other false religions and rejections of our Creator and the Gospel are all being used by Satan to keep people from the knowledge of the Truth. And Satan and his army of demons are my enemies as a born-again Christian. Anything that sets itself up against the Gospel of Jesus Christ is my enemy.

I urge you, if you profess Christ as your Lord and Saviour, to get sound Biblical teaching and grow in the knowledge of the truth. Here are sermons of a couple of godly men who I recommend people listen to:

I do not doubt your ability to quote scripture, but can I make a personal judgment about you by that alone? Can not the demons of hell quote scripture? Paul was speaking to the church when he said that. Do you consider the Mormon faith a part of the church that has just gone astray in their beliefs? Is everyone that sits in your church or any church for that matter, saved and on their way to heaven? My only point here is that we need to focus on the individuals in our attempt to minister the truth, not the collective or organizations. What good is the truth that has been given to you by the revelation of the Holy Spirit if you do not have Charity towards the lost?

God does not bring a spirit of condemnation on those who do not have the truth in them, nor should we. Has the Holy Spirit laid a burden upon you for those who are lost in the Mormon faith? Do you labor on their behalf in prayer and try to reach out in love with the truth, by your actions, not just in word? That is where our hearts should be, not just standing on the street corners of the cities or the blogs and condemning those that are lost. As you already know I’m sure, “we do not wrestle with flesh and blood”. We are to reach out in love to those who do not have the truth.

Let the love God showered upon you the day you repented and asked Him into your life be the guiding force for what you do and what you say. Mormons, Buddhists, Muslim’s, Baptists, Atheists, Pentecostals’, even the crazy Evangelicals are not our enemies!!!

Galatiansch2vs20
Galatiansch2vs20

I take my direction from the God's Word and Mormonism is a cult. It is impossible to be a Mormon and believe in the false teachings of that religion and a Christian at the same time. If you are saying Mormons need the Lord and the truth of the Gospel, I agree. They are lost and are in need of the Saviour.

I am very careful when I say Mormonism is of the devil. A demon named Moroni gave the book of Mormon to Joseph Smith. Mormonism is being used by Satan to blind the eyes of many individuals and I loathe any means Satan uses to blind the eyes of a lost and dying world, including the means of Mormonism. It was not right if for political expediency, calling Mormonism the cult that it is was taken off Billy Graham's website.

Here's something God said in His Word through the Apostle Paul, who recognized false teaching when he saw it:

'But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!' -Galatians 1:8 NAS

I am confident I will know the Lord by His grace when I see Him when I die or when I see Him if He should come back before I die.

John 10:27-28 NAS '"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand."'

If memory serves, Jesus said He came for the sick, not those who are well. Be careful of making a blanket statement regarding a specific group of individuals. Our relationship with our Heavenly Father, as I am sure you know, is based on repentance of our sins and asking Jesus to be the Lord of our lives. Do not make the same mistake the Jewish community did in Jesus day, in accusing Him of befriending winebibbers, publicans and sinners. Those very people you ridicule and chastise are the very ones we have been sent to, to show the truth as Christ did, with Gods Power and speaking with His Authority to bring deliverance. Our relationship with our Heavenly Father is an individual one, are you so sure you have the ability to discern who does or does not have that relationship? You would judge a man or woman because of the church he attends? I can speak with certainty that it is the Heart of the individual God uses.

Are you so confident that if Jesus were to walk this Earth today, that you would recognize Him? Be very careful with your words and judgments, speak truth to the individuals you led to, as the Spirit would give you utterance. For your own sake, do not put yourself in a higher position of authority and knowledge than the very man that wrote the book by which you have chosen your screen name. For Paul confessed that even he could only see through the glass darkly. You would do well to speak of His Glory, Power and His Saving Grace to others, show them by the power of God that lives within you what the truth is. We are not called to ridicule and slander others not of our faith. For unless your faith is perfected my friend and you can say with all humility that your life is an exact replica of the verse below, you will be judged with the same measure you have judged others.

1 Cor. 13 1-13

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long , and is kind ; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself , is not puffed up , doth not behave itself unseemly , seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked , thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
