The billions of taxes were raised through the Franchise Tax. They sold this tax based upon lies and then ended up expanding the amount of people covered by this tax so that it impacts every form of business, even those who file individual tax returns.

Spending is indeed up 85% while the population only increased 13%.

And yet again, the debt is just about 4 times bigger than it was when Perry took office.

You are confusing the roles of the States. Every single state in the nation must have a balanced budget. It is no feat to say that a governor balanced a budget…even Mittens did it. They balance these budgets just like Perry did in the last meeting of the legislature, by using accounting tricks and federal subsidies.

Taxes have increased dramatically under Rick Perry. You even admit this. Thank God that the rates were so low before he came into office or Texas would be in a much different position.

With your position…I guess you would be fine with Rick Perry raising taxes on American businesses and consumers as long as compared to “X” country (i.e. which ever country has the highest tax rate) it is “lower per capita.”

…or the guy who has a 35-57 favorable rating among GOP voters (Perry) and never answers the question asked on foreign policy matters. Tomorrow’s debate will deal with foreign affairs. I suspect we’ll see that again. At this point, Perry’s presence in the race helps clear the way for Romney. I’m not happy with the field in general, but I’m an “anybody but Mitt” guy. I look at every aspect of the race from that prism.

Strongest voice on Abortion:
Passed the sonogram bill and defunded planned parenthood in Texas. Due to legislation Perry pushed for and passed 13 abortion clinics in Texas have been shut down and more will follow.

Gun Rights:
Having the stance that there should be no laws restricting the right to bear arms. Perry signed into law Castle Law (the game winner for me personally and why I am a loyal supporter) and further amended legislation to include the law extend to our vehicles and further be allowed to carry concealed with out a permit while traveling with the clear and simple definition of traveling to include going to and from your home to our car and any destination there after.
Perry is a CCL holder and this 60 second clip with a 5 second response from Perry on gun control is all any conservative needs to know how he legislates the issue.

Taxes
Perry has signed legislation totally 14 billion in tax cuts, among them a veto on the internet sales tax, and bills signed cutting property and franchise business taxes.

Government size:
Perry has signed into law protection against eminent domain and when alerted to the threat of land grabs from the TTC, so scuttled the program and bound by law under scorched earth mandate that the TTC shall never rise again under an name and earned him the endorsement of the highest ranking conservative in Texas, Wayne Christian

Perry has also signed into law several bills protecting Texas against EPA over-regulation and is the worst enemy of the EPA

When it came to TARP, perry recognized there was a crises and co authored a letter to congress urging them to act and stop passing the buck.
However, when it came to dipping into tax dollars to bail out, he drew the line where Cain, Newt, and Romney did not:

Perrys record includes 2 tort reform bills including the famous loser pays law, 400 million in increased budgets for local law enforcement to secure our border and assigning Texas Rangers to recon the border and do the job the federal government refuses to do.
Vetoing a bill that would give state drivers licenses to illegal aliens, vetoing another bill that would give official recognition to a mexican national ID to illegals and our state Voter ID bill requiring everyone wanting to vote in our elections to show proof of citizenship with an ID that can only be lawfully obtained by US citizens.

There is NO ONE in the field who has a record that comes close to matching his for conservative values.

When it comes to distinguishing himself from obamao, again no one in the field with him contrasts more than Perry

Perry is the only one to identify the FED, Social Security as threats to citizens when it drew criticism from the other so called conservatives.
Perry is the only one who has a tax plan that includes a spending cap.
Perry is the only one who has a plan and agenda to cut the knees out of establishment politicians and make them actually work for a living and that includes a salary cut to the office of president.

The only damned things you can throw at Perry is the fact that he CARES.
HE cares enough to sign a bill into law the Texas Dream Act that had 99% legislative approval behind it that benefits Texas Tax payers, which Reagan Himself would have done.
And he doesnt want to see kids end up with cancer so he used an Executive Order which carries no weight of law and came with an OPT out to “Protect the Rights of Parents”

Which was a hell of a lot more conservative than what his loudest critic Bachmann did when she was taking over 140k from drug lobbyists and did not mind her own state issuing a mandate for an STD vaccine that was ordered with out any form of opt out or parental protection measure.

When I look at what choices Perry has made I can see that he weighed them against “What would Reagan do, and what would our Founding Fathers intended when they framed our government”

You sure as hell cant say that about cain, newt, or romney.

Santorum does not have a success record to match Perry and cant even pick himself off the floor long enough to be taken serious. And Bachmanns mouth has made everyone with a brain dismiss her. And Ron Paul does not count as a conservative so im not even going there, the only reason he is on the GOP ticket is for votes and obviously not because he thinks he can win on his own.
And none of the others have a record of leading and legislating anything close to the scale that the burden of the Office of President of the United States carries.

Oh and probably one of the most important things that show he is a conservative. Judicial Appointments

I agree it is left leaning and I took offense to some of their potrayal of Perry, but they did do actual research and managed to do a bit of journalism about Rick Perry’s cronyism, that is fact and can’t be explained away.

Scored points on his Flat Tax when Charles asked him about why leaving the option in place and received the idea of a sunset on it VERY well. I wouldnt be surprised if that pops up in his plan.

And I think he scored points when the subject of his stance on immigration came up and he confided that he had been criticized by his wife for his comments in the debate.
