Nice clip of Perry making a play on his major goof many debates back. It goes over quite well:

That was a good laugh. He must have had his brains and eggs this morning.

  • Anonymous

That was the best moment of the debate. Perry did good and the audience was right there with him.

Can someone tell me when this debate happened? I watched the debate by ABC last night but this is a new one to me.

      • Is_Sense_Common

You were probably at church like many of us. It was at 9 am on a Sunday morning. Can you believe it?! Sad state of affairs.

        • http://twitter.com/PoeAllen Allen Poe

In your time Zone. Some churches work all day, and some at 5 am. VCR’s work, and we have this great web. What angers me, is the media making these guys miss church. I guess Obama’s news staff missed that, as they all went to the Mosque, yesterday.

          • Is_Sense_Common

Well yeah – we have the ability to watch it whenever we want, thanks to modern technology! I just think it’s tacky to have a debate on a Sunday morning – call me old fashioned. It’s not like they’ve only had the chance to debate once or twice but to schedule the 14th debate on a Sunday morning is ridiculous.

        • Anonymous

I looked for it last night but couldn’t find it. Why would it be on in the morning?? I wonder how many people actually watched it.

People want jobs… not government dependence. As Rush would say, “Right on. Right on. Right on!”

10 giant leaps forward for Perry!

    Perry’s self-deprecating humor vs. Romney’s pious baloney.

Perry is a really likeable, regular guy. If he can gain some traction in South Carolina, Texas has 155 delegates. Keep fighting Governor. We have the most brilliant intellect on the planet in the White House (according to the MSM) and look where that has gotten us. Perry is one us, no silver spoon, no Harvard education, just regular common sense and a love of America.

I hate to see my candidate with only 1% in the polls, who does these polls? No one has ever asked me. Last summer I did get two calls both from the same GA number, asking if I thought Cain could be POTUS. I thought he did not have the experience to be POTUS.

I hate that Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and maybe Florida get to decide who the rest of us get to choose from. I HATE it.

    Second look at Perry.

There was a debate on NBC this morning with David Gregory in the Meet the Press time slot. You should be able to find it somewhere on the internet

Great Job Rick Perry….you got all 3 this time. LOL

Rick Perry has much improved versus Iowa but I think he needs to drop the I am the outsider schtick because his record is not so squeaky clean. I think he needs to stay to his core of defense, religions, and energy. Those are his strong points and he needs to push those. He has got the record of job creation, he has the experience in energy and there were several opportunities to push those points. Why he did not fully take them….gosh I wish he had…because it would have been great!

The ”I am an outsider” is only good for a short time and then people look at his record and see conflicts.

Not that I don’t like Perry because he is one of my choices but just he needs to push his strong points because he is lowman on the pole with Huntsman. The I am the only one different won’t play because they are all Republicans.

Yes…and…it wouldn’t hurt if he added a healthy dose of door-to-door, like Santorum did in Iowa.

People remember the candidate they meet face to face much better than the fleeting [albeit very good] TV ads.

Time for Republicans to take that second look at Perry.

I’m still on my first look.

I still can’t back Perry. Sometimes, decisions on governing come from the gut, and we see that Perry’s gut is often wrong. His decision to mandate health care in the form of injected pharmaceuticals, and his decision to coddle illegal alien criminals, as opposed to cracking down on them are just two examples. We don’t need a guy with those kinds of instincts in the Oval Office. Sure, he may talk a good game, sure has has a good idea, or two, but the negative aspects that necessarily accompany those good ideas just doesn’t seem worth the cost, to me.

    • Anonymous

No one is perfect. I appreciate Perry’s willingness to admit when he is wrong and listen to his constituents. That health care legislation had an opt out that is conveniently never mentioned. As a Gov; what good is the state law when the federal law is ignored? He had to deal with the results of a failed, un-enforced, federal law in Texas.

      • http://twitter.com/PoeAllen Allen Poe

I do wish people would start to look at the whole picture. Quit harping on one thing you don’t like. You sound like Obama. Perry got 90% right, even you admit. I think he is 100%. What I am trying to say, is Perry is so much better than any other candidate, He is my choice. I know him, as a person, and as a great chief excutive. You have a chance to put this good guy in the white house. You harp enough, and Hussan will ruin your next 4 years. If that is your intent, as a Rino, I wish you would just say so.

I am one of those moms that chose to opt out of most vaccinations. Even so, I think Perry did Texans a service. They could very easily opt out, but if they wanted to choose to vaccinate their children, it was now covered by health insurance. Without the mandate, there would have been no coverage.

Regarding “coddling” illegals, that is what the federal government is doing. They are suing states that try to crack down. The Republican legislature passed the in-state tuition because they thought it made economic sense. A Perry veto would have been overridden if he had been so inclined.

In-state tuition is not free tuition, nor is it the reason people cross our borders.

Perry has been tougher on enforcing our border than anyone.

I have not considered Perry as a presidential contender, but his latest debate performance was endearing and improvement was quite notable. If he improves more and with other candidates floundering, he might be able to get ahead. Who knows, he might perform a Reganesque come back. Whoever his tutor on debating, is doing a great service, more overtime please… but please reconsider tempering him down in sending troops anywhere at a drop of a hat. Troop movements and military sacrifices should be a well and long thought out process and war should be the last resort of all options.

Somehow I found Romney often beating around the bush when answering. People should advise him to be concise, direct, and to a point.

Ron Paul’s answer of letting the house of congress and senate deciding when a country goes into war, assuage me somewhat. However; he is still good in criticism only with no workable/realistic plan in place. He is selling the other side of a leftist’s utopia, thus the same type of shrill and hysterical supporters flock to his cause.

I may not like Newt, but somehow the other candidates differ and listen to him more than at any candidates. He has a potential to be a good leader if someone or if there are people around him who can make him focus, temper, as well as fight him on his over running ideas. I know of people like him who welcome and relish a good fight from anyone who is not afraid to face, debate, and fight them. At this point of crisis, your country needs a forceful man who can bark (not afraid to tell it as it is) at people into action in guiding your country to a difficult and painful but necessary actions and direction. Considering Newt as a candidate has been a difficult realization, it took a lot of debates and watching him answer and face difficult questions that would cut a lesser man.

As for Santorum, he could be a probable leader if and only if there are people who will make him and hold him to a promise of a way smaller government. This candidate should be properly vetted as not much is known yet of his past policies and affiliations.

Huntsman’s stance on pandering to China even knowing that there is a great trade imbalance unfairly favoring China will be his downfall. He is not a good negotiator and leader for the US, he will hand US to China in a silk lined basket. His fear of losing China’s trade is misplaced and unbecoming for a leader. With the nature of US trade imbalance, China should fear losing US trade. It is time for US and other western countries to learn how to negotiate well. If there is one thing the Chinese respect and have mastered well is negotiating, they expect it. If other countries are not prepared to walk out of the negotiating table with the Chinese, they will never budge and respect one’s negotiating technique. They will only give in the moment one is about to or on the process of walking out. That is how business is done in Asia. In this, Huntsman, no matter how well he speaks Chinese, has failed in his understanding of the Chinese and how they do business.

As for Perry, if he improves more and getting more calm and comfortable in answering questions, he could be the best of those choices. Please more of overtime for his tutors, coaches and advisers in getting him well on his way to viability.
