The Garrett challenge doesn’t come until the 3:25 mark, but I wanted you to hear Gibbs’ entire answer up to that point. Gibbs is basically saying that given the Senate holding up other nominee 21 times, he has the ample evidence needed to know that he can’t wait that long to get this nominee approved. Garrett counters that why not go ahead and have the hearing, and the recess appoint when the Senate takes their next break, which wont be long. Gibbs just kinda shrugs it off and won’t leave his original premise.
The bottom line is they don’t want the public to know how radical Berwick is which is why they don’t want to have the hearing.
UPDATE: Just to point out, I know Gibbs got challenged by several reporters. I don’t know all their names, but I thought Garrett’s challenge was especially great simply because he pointed out a plan of action that got dismissed by Gibbs.
