Romney on beating Obama: “If truth is our standard, we’ll win”

I almost lost my lunch when I heard Romney say “If truth is our standard, we’ll win” when it comes to beating Obama. Hannity asked him specifically if he would really go after Obama and if things in Obama’s past like Ayers and such would be fair game. His answer included the quote above and another quote: “I think anything truthful about a candidate is fair game”.

First, it sounds like he’s about to become another John McCain should he win. We’ve heard him say before that he won’t call Obama a socialist. And now he’s hiding underneath “truth” and “fair game”. Those are just code words for “I’ll be super nice to him”.

Secondly, seriously? Romney’s hypocrisy is paramount when you consider the false attacks he’s leveled at Newt in Florida. I heard today that he wouldn’t even concede on Hannity’s radio show that Newt had been vindicated and he didn’t resign in shame. He wouldn’t even admit it. Talk about dishonest.
