Rush lays out why Petraeus isn’t going to contradict himself and summarily throw Obama under the bus. But even if he does, says Rush, it will leak and the media will destroy him.

General Petraeus will protect his country from all enemies foreign and domestic. May he recognize the enemy in time.

It all hinges on whether or not the Senate offers Petraeus immunity. If not, he's not going to say much. If they do offer him immunity, Obama and Clinton are toast. But it doesn't look like the Senate is willing to grant immunity, especially while Reid is running the show there. So I guess Rush is right and not much will happen when Petraeus finally does testify.

Petraeus is another example of man´s self-justification of sins. One wonders whether he will exhibit behavior to expose the truth. When you play with the devil you cannot expect anything but the results you get. What shall a man exchange for his soul?

Any citizen who believes they can maintain any form of sophisticated/intellectual neutrality with this administration is going to be sadly mistaken.

He took an oath the defend and protect this country and I hope he does the right thing. Sometimes when someone is faced with the mistakes they have made (unfaithful) a desire to do right is stronger than the desire to do what's easy.

Right! Bang, zoom, Rush! I just don't see how there is any way Petraeus is going to do anything other than plead the Fifth. It's clear -- as Rush said -- that the wagons have been circled, so there's just nothing that's going to be gained from one man's testimony. I don't doubt that someday we may know more of what happened; I just don't think there's any smoking gun coming by way of Petraeus.

Heard Rush say this today and though I pray Petraeus has the courage to tell the truth I agree with Rush he won't change his story. Probably can't afford to lose his pension.

Thank you. Orangeone has accused me of flagging her posts and some other shit I have don't have the power to do. Pisses me off. I don't know what's going on but that broad blames me.

Whatever....I need a break, I'll miss you guys for my little break.

Hurry back Mike. I understand your disgust with the meek. We all need a break but seldom announce it. I understand this about you as well. A man's man. Peace!

I dont know about that. Didnt this scandal pretty much destroy Petraeus's career. There would really be no sense in protecting the administration.

It's over for Petraeus regardless. Republicans won't take him back after cheating on a wife of 37 years and then lying to Congress to cover Obama and himself.

Democrats never liked him to begin with.

What Petraeus had better start worrying about is the next life.

He has a position to head Princeton Univ. lined up for him, so he'll be all right

Suspension of disbelief is now offical American Policy. If you are in disbelief, just ask any MSM/Press employee, they will be more than happy to issue you your suspension.

Rush. Petraeus is already under the bus, so you're right, he's not in any position to throw anyone anywhere. He can however, grab O' and pull him under the bus.

I only wish Petraeus would tell the truth because the families of those who died deserve at least that... but I know it's not gonna happen.

I agree but when stuff like this happens people generally react out of fear and fear tends to make one want to cover their butt.

Orangeone just accused me of flagging comments of hers and believes I had it done. Maybe you can set her straight but I'm taking time off. I don't know where she got the idea I have moderator powers or would do anything to her posts but that is what she jujst emailed me like I have some personal vandetta and did that to her. Let her know, please, that I had nothing to do with that.

Amen, I'm holding out hope he'll do the right thing, but won't be terribly surprised if he doesn't.

He wont tell the truth. None of them have and will not. They have the avenue of truth bottled up in a jar and sitting on their mantle at the White House. That avenue of the truth is the press. Formerly known as the free press. Now they have a master and are no longer free at all. Like Pink Floyd said, They passed on a walk on part in the war for the lead role in a cage.

Betsey_Ross

We know the truth. Having them lie under oath is going to be what gets them. In Issa's case you don't think he doesn't have the information before he knows the answers to the questions he asks? Forget the Senate. They don't want to get their guys in trouble, Hopefully someone will be knowledgeable about how things work in the WH and the military. Why yes, there is. John McCain. Will he try to make up for assuring us that Bronco was not to be feared?

He hasn't lost it... although it sounds defeatist, but it's not. He's stating the facts based on observable truth. But the edge has come off... maybe it's just time for conservatives to grab some oxygen... and maybe Rush's softpeddling reflects this. I do hope he comes back with his usual gusto, minus letting the libs nail him on things like Fluke.

They're different. Rush tends to focus on the day to day political manueverings that are going on. Mark Levin spends more time looking at things from a more philosophical, bigger picture point of view.

Episodes like the Sandra Fluke situation have castrated El Rushbo, he's too cautious now.

Unless Petraeus is prepared to hand over documents, i.e. show a paper trail to the Committee, his testimony is totally irrelevant, even if he's under oath.

It's irrelevant because, as Rush said, the senators can rightfully ask why they should believe him now, and the Obama administration can discredit anything he says by pointing to his affaire. And the corrupt MSM will of course follow the directive given by the POS in the WH as to how to play this.

There's only one way to combat this, and that is a public hearing by the Issa committee, with Trey Gowdy being unleashed. Not well: it's got to be a public hearing, no hiding.

I was just a wittle feller when Watergate was dominating the airwaves all day every day. I remember John Dean especially.

I had a sucker in one hand, a moon pie in the other, and a glass of Tang wedged between my knees.

I want to see Petraeus reprise the Dean role...and do a curtain call to boot!

Constance

I remember Watergate too - I was a youngster then. My Grandma forced me to sit down and watch what was going on, and she explained to me why it was important. She had been a Nixon supporter, but she dropped off that bandwagon when the lies and coverups started. Right was right, she said. Right always trumps politics. Oh, how the world has changed since then. :(

I would have had chocolate milk in one hand and a twinkie in the other.

poljunkie

Well, I was a watchin' too- and I prefered an Astro pop in one hand and some Laffy Taffy in the other. If I really wanted a sugar rush I might of had some Pixie Stix, and some Fizzies too.

Oh, and later I might of gone into the bathroom and played with my Fuzzie Wuzzie soap to see what was inside.

I have a feeling that he will only answer questions that have short answers in the Senate. They do not want to know what happened. He can use his original testimony and stick with that. Will he answer the question "Who told the CIA, and the military to stand down? Or better yet, "Who is the only person that has the authority to tell his mililtary and CIA to stand down?"

Constance

Me too. Plus, he's a strong man's man who is kind of handsome in a rugged sort of way. The accent doesn't hurt, either. My heart is fluttering. :) Back to reality.
