Rush Limbaugh played several clips from Ted Cruz’s appearance yesterday on Fox News Sunday and just loved every bit of it. Whether it was Cruz’s response to Hagel’s nomination or his explanation of why he’s conservative, Rush was definitely enthralled.

In response to one of the sound clips Rush makes the point facts don’t matter to this culture and that is a frustrating point to be for him. He said that just the other day we learned that more people are killed by hammers and knives than guns, yet the only discussion is about banning and restricting guns.

Listen to the segment below:

You can watch the entire Cruz interview on Fox News Sunday below:

Texas - Texans - We are the Light of Freedom in this country - We are lucky [ God Blessed ] to have leaders like Sen. Cruz - Gov Perry - Rep. Brady - just to list a few.

It is difficult NOT to stand and salute the leadership coming out of this state.

Sen. Cruz WILL prove to be a much needed throne in the sides of both o-bama and harry reid.

Ted Cruz is a a true right-headed conservative that can articulate the "why" of conservatism as well as the "what." I firmly believe that if those in this great nation that still have brains to reach with reason can hear and process the truths of conservatism and truly understand the "why" of its core values and principles, we still have a shot at turning this thing around. Go Ted - you're exceptional.

We need more conservatives/true conservatives like Ted Cruz. Our own republican conservatives are caving in and this is ruining our country. Good for Ted Cruz, and thanks Rush.

Ted Cruz would be an Excellent Attorney General. Could you imagine, or a Supreme Court Justice. To have someone like him, who speaks and knows, and has fought for the constitution is amazing. Rand Paul and him will get a long great in the Senate.

I must have a total misunderstanding on gun registration. I thought we were already registered as gun owners. If you have to go through a background check nationally and sign papers in your state what gun you own, purchase price, tax, etc. why is that not gun registration. The business I purchased my gun from has to have income tax records of guns sold for how much and I don't know what other paperwork is prescribed by my state. How did a newspaper get a list of gun owners and publish all their addresses if it isn't already easy to know who gun owners are. I'm not saying we should roll over for a national gun registration list but I don't think our government would have to much trouble getting that list now.

Pitting one conservative over another is no the way to win. We need to be united to win. Look at how united the dems are when their members lie and cheat such as Biden has demonstrated. They just turn a cheek and keep moving in their lying direction and still can manage to fool the stupid voter

colliemum
colliemum

Ahem.

How is me giving a personal opinion = to 'pitting one conservative over another'?

We've seen how being united behind the only eligible candidate, chosen by the GOP establishment worked out in the last election.

Accepting someone as candidate already because he's already been 'anointed' by that same establishment surely cannot be an option at this stage.

jrt1031
jrt1031

just saying......... Look at how the Dems stand behind such fools as Biden. We do need to unite and stand strong. Rubio is an asset to the conservative party imo. Im not sure he is ready or old enough to be president. We see what happens when you elect someone so unexperienced and young as Obama gets us.

What a breath of fresh air after the Mc connell /Boehner stale, irritating, disgusting, stupid, drama over the fiscal cliff. Mc Connell better produce with the debt ceiling. I think Cruz could help conservatives stick together. He is smart and one cool customer. He decides on how the interview is going to go and even the msm doesn't seem able to throw him off his game. He has already had some of the msm media's arrogance and they lost. But they will keep trying.

It is getting late. Late for me anyway. I don't normally hang out here until midnight. We have a full work schedule tomorrow. Dinner is on the table, and my wife is looking at me with that look. Enough of the damned computer.

I don't like sleeping in the garage, so I'm gonna put the Mac to sleep for now. But I sure do love being a part of all this. I really do. You may not know this about me, but I mostly read books. We don't own a television. At least two rooms in my house are filled with books, and I keep looking for more. It's a sickness, I know. But its harmless to others.

Except to Liberals. Liberals don't really like people who read books.

jrt1031
jrt1031

Have you not heard of Oprah and her book club..... and her minions of liberal followers that gave us Obama.......remember he was a nobody community agitator before she brought him on the scene. Books are good in that they take us to other places, but why store them after you finish just to collect dust. I'm big on getting them from the library where they are free to read and then letting them store them.

white531
white531

I'm not sure Oprah and her book club read the same books that I do.

As for why I keep them, that's more difficult to explain. Some of them are classics, some are historical in nature and some are collections by a single author, or collections on a particular subject. But even the ones that are just plain fiction or mystery, I keep because they're like old friends. I like to see them on the shelves and run my hands over them and remember the story. Some, I have read more than once, like Ayn Rand for instance.

In the end, I guess I'm just a collector like any other collector. I just happen to collect books.

I don't know if Rush coined the term "low information voter," but he sure popularized it.

So in honor of Rush's use of the term, and to thereby skate thinly on the claim that this comment is on topic, I give you:

Why does Rush refer to Marco Rubio as a Conservative?

white531
white531

Because he exhibits conservative ideas. He also embraces Amnesty, because he is Hispanic. In spite of the fact that you and I are against it, this may well be the future of the Republican Party.

While I welcome the Hispanic community into the Conservative side of political thought, I'm not counting on a lot of support from that particular segment of our society.

Why, you may ask? Here is why. Because Mexicans, and most other people who live south of our southern border, know that if they can only cross the border, into Wonderland, they can take advantage of the unending welfare that Democrats offer. More than anyone could ever dream possible.

I know, you think they all come here to find work. I'm sorry. Those are the true minority at this point.

Most of them come here, because they know they can live for free on Welfare and the U.S. government, including free Medical. They work day jobs and are paid in cash, most of which they send back to Mexico to support their families still living in Mexico.

Those of you who still think we can win the war on Amnesty, are dreaming. There are simply too many of them here, and they are not going away.

The original people who broke the law by coming here illegally, now have children, and grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren, living here in these United States of America. Every single one of them, illegal. Raul Grijalva, one of our Representatives in Congress, is the son of illegal immigrants.

I live in Tucson, Arizona. No one knows what that means, more than me. But you tell me what we can do about it. I'll tell you what we can do about it. Absolutely nothing.

There are two ways you can take over a territory. You can take it by military force, or you can simply occupy it. They have simply occupied it.

These people have lived here for more than a hundred years. Tucson, Arizona used to be Mexico, for God's sakes. They aren't going to leave, because you don't like them living here. The majority of people who work in the city government here, are Mexican.

Walk into any government office in Tucson, and tell me what you see. I'll save you the trouble. You're going to be dealing with Mexicans. Get used to it.

When Mexicans get into government management positions, whether city, county, or Federal, they give preference to hiring their own kind. If you can find me a person in Tucson, who works for the city, in any capacity that involves manual labor, like maintenance, or fixing potholes in the street, who is white, I'll give you twenty bucks.

Its a safe bet. Because they don't exist.

Be careful supporting candidates like Rubio. All Rubio wants to do, is move more people like him, into this country.

There are a lot of good and decent spanish speaking people who live in this country and believe in the Freedom it offers. But the large majority of them are just here for the free stuff.

Not the end of the world, necessarily. Just one of the myriad of problems we are facing. Just try to not be so dumb, as to pretend it doesn't exist.

K-Bob
K-Bob

I've added a qualifier to the term. Marco Rubio is an excellent example of what I call a "Values Conservative."

These are the folks on the right who run the gamut from Mike Huckabee to Mitt Romney, who are strong conservatives, as long as you don't ask them questions about the Founding Fathers or the reasoning employed in creating the Constitution.

There aren't going to be enough Mark Levins to go around, so we need values conservatives, who will be reliable Republican voters in Congress.

Mind, I don't call these people RINOs. They are worlds better at being conservative than someone like Jon "I endorse Obama" Huntsman or John McCain and family.

But these folks are not Restoration Conservatives. Rubio is a really good guy, but I've concluded he's simply not a Restoration guy, so I sure won't be sending money to him or any PAC he heads. For me, if some conservative isn't for Restoration, they get nothing. We're in a war, and those guys are on the sidelines.

I don't know the fox fill in John Roberts, or his credentials, but I wish Rush and every other conservative quit giving these people the title of Journalist.

Most if not all have become nothing more than a news show PERSONALITY. </b.

Why is is that every time one of these Personalities conducts an interview with a Conservative, they always attack the IDEA they hold?

And by the same token, when interviewing a liberal, they ask why is it conservatives are so wrong on all the issues?

I get all the infusion of the mindless drivel ftrom the news room personalities inquisitions I need each day here on TRS. Thanks Scoop!!!

There's only three "young guns" that have proven their worth, and they aren't really "young guns" in the usual sense.

And those three American heroes are Louie Gohmert, Trey Gowdy and Allen West. These three will hold their own against anybody and they should be rewarded for their heroism. Until you put up like they have, you don't have my respect.

If Mitch McConnel agrees to any confirmation to a Defense, Security, or State position until the American People get a budget, as well as some straight answers on what happened with Fast and Furious, and Benghazi. Not to mention all the other things, such as secretly arming terrorists .... he should be personally audited and everything wrong with this clown needs to come to light.

What the hell do they have over him? The only answer that I can figure out is that, like Petraous, they are holding something over his head. But, unlike Petraous, it is actually working...

Personally, I am sick and tired of being asked to support Republicans only because they aren't Obama. Real life doesn't work like that.

Earth to Elite Beltway Republicans..... If you think you don't need to explain to us Middle Earth - little people in Mordor Land, .... what the hell you are doing...treating us as if we are a bunch of lemmings at the same time ... Well, I honestly do not know what to tell you ...

Except, maybe, "It "ain't" gonna' happen....."

Learn that.

Rush is correct and in my mind it is clear this is nothing more than a way for the Left to disarm the American public so they will have complete control and have a dctatorship.

Current gun control laws made it illegal for either the school shooter or the firemen shooter from buying the guns they used. Those cities and states with the harshest gun control laws have the most gun violence. New gun control laws would only impact legal gun owners and they are not the problem.

I like a person that speaks from the heart and uses plain common sense when answering questions. I did not hear the questions as asked by the original interviewer, so it would be hard to say if Rush was adlibbing the tone and sarcasm, but I liked the way Mr. Cruz held his own and how he spoke with authority. There was no if ands or buts in his answers, nor was there any wavering in his voice. This hints at his confidence and belief in what he says. We desperately need more like him.

Yes Reagan did and then he gave amnesty to millions of illegal aliens that has landed us with the mess we have today.

white531
white531

I know you made this post yesterday Orange, but I wanted to go back and answer it in a little more depth. I am extremely jealous of those of you who can be here all the time and keep current with what is being said. To me, its like reading a day old newspaper.

The Reagan thing, though. I cannot let that pass without comment.

Before anyone even knew there was an Obama in our future, Jimmy Carter was one of the worst Presidents this country ever had. Under his leadership, the respect for America by other nations had reached an all-time low. His poor leadership weakened our standing in the eyes of the rest of the world.

The American economy, under his administration, had reached a point that bordered on catastrophe. Interest rates were at 20%, and showing no signs of improving.

To his credit, the unemployment rate when Carter left office, was the same as when he was sworn in. But with the high interest rates, there was no expansion of the economy on the horizon.

The hostage crisis was simply an indication of what others thought of us. There was no way he could recover from it. Just so you know, I have always maintained Carter was a wonderful human being. He just had no business being President, and I think he proved it. I would love to have someone like Jimmy Carter for a neighbor, but I don't ever again want someone like him for my President.

I think the Panama Canal was something we built. Be nice if we still owned it.

This is obviously growing into some sort of defense of Reagan, and you are right. It is.

Reagan restored the international respect of this nation. Almost from day one, he restored dignity to the office of the Presidency, and respect for America. The hostage crisis was settled immediately. It was something the country desperately needed at the time, and it was something he produced almost effortlessly.

His good looks, his charming manner, and his absolute belief in America, and the Freedom that America offers to all those who come here legally, made everyone breath a big sigh of relief. I remember people saying at the time, "Thank God. Thank God that this nation is saved!"

More recently, those same things have been said about Obama, but for very different reasons.

When Reagan was elected President, people saw more jobs and opportunity in their future. When Obama was elected, those of us who work for a living, saw higher taxes. Those of us who don't work for a living, saw more free stuff. Hard to beat free stuff.

Point of your comment was the Amnesty he offered. Yes. In retrospect, it was a mistake. But he didn't think so at the time. Before he was President of the United States, he was Governor of the once great state of California.

His experience with Mexicans, was with the, "Bracero" program, which allowed Mexican farm workers to come into California and work in the incredible agriculture industry, that the state's perfect climate produced.

The Bracero program was a huge success from the very beginning, and Reagan was impressed with both the success of the program, and the Mexican workers who were a part of it. He thought of it as both a way to help American agriculture and abject poverty in Mexico, and he was right.

During it's implementation, it did exactly that. Impoverished workers from across the border came here and worked in our fields. They earned a better wage than they could earn in Mexico, and the labor problem for California farms was solved.

Problem then, is the same problem we have now. Some of them didn't go back. They stayed here. We now understand the result of that. I don't think Reagan did, at the time. Reagan was a very human person. I think he just wanted to help both sides, and create a situation where everyone benefited.

When you feel you have to criticize someone, I think it is a good idea to take into account all of the good that person did, and then balance that against the few mistakes that person might have made.

We are all human. We will go to our graves with all of our accomplishments we claim, and all of the mistakes we would rather everyone forgot about.

Ronald Reagan, 40th President of these United States, was no different than you or me. Except for one thing. He had leadership abilities that you and I do not possess.

Obama doesn't possess them either. But the world is yet to find that out.

Give them time.

white531
white531

Nuke, I would rather not compromise with them at all, on anything. I really mean that. I am done with compromising with Liberals.

Nukeman60
Nukeman60

The greatest lesson we can learn from the Reagan amnesty mistake was that he cut a deal for that amnesty and the left reneged on their end of the bargain. That is what the left will do every time. We cannot make deals with them to do something right now for promises down the road, like they always seem to do.

Force the left to compromise in the here and now. No tax cuts 10 years down the road. No bills pushed to after an election. No pork thrown in every bill. We have to stand firm on all accounts. The days of capitulation are over now and the days of retribution are at hand.

Orangeone
Orangeone

It's not hate for Reagan but it is realistic.  He was not a god and does not belong on a pedestal.  He did plenty to help this country but also hurt us by failing to seal the Mexican border and deport the illegals, rather gave them amnesty and encouraged other Mexicans to behave similarly. Failure to learn from history will lead us to repeat it.  Because of what Reagan did, even the strongest anti-illegals are looking at amnesty for another 12 million.
