***FULL INTERVIEW ADDED***

Somewhere today I saw that Santorum may not get on the Illinois ballot because at that point there was only two hours left. I was immediately concerned that he’d potentially lose those 68 delegates, but that’s no longer a concern. He told Hannity tonight that he did get on the ballot and he will be in fact on every ballot except Virginia and the District of Columbia:

Did he say “game on”? Who could have said that a while back and then disappeared from contention? Hmmm… Ah, I’m just bitter. Everything seems to have been a debacle. Good on Santorum though. Who would have thought he’d do as well as he did in Iowa just a few months ago?

  • Anonymous

Thank goodness for the ground game! Kudo’s to those out getting signatures- it’s a bit of work with the snowstorms!

This interview with Hannity was way better than the O’Really Factor one.

    • Anonymous

Yes. He looked rested and perky. It was all a good interview till the very end when it came to earmarks and entitlements. He mentions entitlements are the problem. So why did he expand Medicare?

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez

        Good question.

      • http://twitter.com/113KriEger 13Krieger

Since you want to ask the same question on multiple threads are you talking about this??

I think it is clearly explained by Santorum to Chris Wallace.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez

Thanks for posting that video, I hadn’t seen it before.. Man, Chris Wallace was annoying at the beginning of that video, but I heard what he said about his medicare part d vote and he tried to fight against some of things in the bill but bush compromise with the democrats and admitted it was a mistake. Is it mistake a worthy of stopping some momentum? It hasn’t so far, will be interesting to see if it gets played out in the debates..

          • http://twitter.com/113KriEger 13Krieger

Yes I agree. I am looking forward to the debates and kick some RINO Romney tail!

        • Anonymous

So Santorum admits what you cannot, “It was a mistake.” And it’s the mistake that keeps on giving year after year.

So an occasional and rare budget shortfall in Texas, which affects Texas alone, disqualifies Rick Perry to be president, but an unfunded Medicare program which is adding to the national debt is okay.

On another note, I thought the interview was good. Chris asked some relevant questions, and Santorum gave some honest answers.

          • http://twitter.com/113KriEger 13Krieger

            Kamiller;

Rick Perry is a GW Bush clone (strong on social issues, grows government, and spends big in Texas) and is not what the country needs. His record in Texas proves that! We had 8 years of GW Bush and we definiety DO NOT need another 4 years of that kind of policy.

Face it, Perry finished in 5th place out of 6 in Iowa. His message, style, and positions did not resonate with the American people. The best thing he can do is gracefully bow out and support a stronger conservative candidate. Because the alternative is the establishment RINO Romney his social and fiscal Republican liberalism is just as bad as Obama.

            • Anonymous

If anyone has a record more aligned with George Bush, it’s Santorum. His record as senator proves that. Please list for me for the spending bills GB requested and Santorum voted Nay.

Right now, Perry’s position needs to resonate with the GOP. If you look at the leaderboard, with the exception Ron Paul, all of the candidates have something in common… big government.

I was under the impression the GOP stood for limited government. But if they choose one of the candidates on the leaderboard, I have to believe they don’t have the stomach to do what it takes to truly scale down government.

              • http://twitter.com/113KriEger 13Krieger

define big government. that is your first job. then see how the candidates define the role of government.

just saying i don’t like earmarks does not cut it. earmarks are what congress does as the nations purse keeper. it is their job to earmark money to things. earmarks for defense, earmarks for national infrastruture, earmarks for intelligence, earmarks for state education insentives. these are but a few examples of good earmarks. there are alot of bad ones but remember it is the job of congress to appropriate funds to the government to keep it functioning.

that is why Ron Paul is such as hypocrite.

    • http://twitter.com/113KriEger 13Krieger

I agree…He looks more rested compaired to his interview with Greta…. In that interview Santorum looked really tired..

He did a great job in this Hannity interview and look rested, relaxed, and ready to rumble!

    • http://twitter.com/PJRodman Paula J Rodman

No kidding, O’Reilly was the pinhead on that interview….totally set him up to be the “weird” religious fanatic…and Santorum had the States authority issue correct, not Bill. I wanted to throw something at him…total hack job interview.

  • http://www.davemacleod.net/ dmacleo

this has been bugging me a bit, DC has no reps in congress but they can vote for this.
they need to either be made whole or be fully stripped, no more 1/2 crap.

Let’s give D.C. to the Chinese as partial payment on our debt. Most of the politicians would feel right at home in the CCP.

      • Anonymous

We need to make DC look like Detroit. For every DC politician, bureaucrat, lobbyist, and union member we put on unemployment, we will create a 10,000 jobs in the part of America that actually produces wealth instead of sucking it dry.

  • Anonymous

I saw the entire interview on TV. I really liked the classy answer he gave when Hannity asked him about the possible vote screw-ups that made him lose by 8 votes in Iowa. He said that basically he already won by coming that far in Iowa, and the final outcome with the certification count really didn’t matter. Win-win for him, I think.

Funny how Karl Rove was on Fox News with his little white board illustrating how Santorum couldn’t get on the ballot for numerous states……

  • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

OK. First off, I apologize for this comment which belongs on an earlier story about Santorum, and that liberally indoctrinated gang of youth who asked him a question (or questions) about gay marriage. However, I just read a story which totally goes with what he and others have said, when comparing the gay marriage defense which says that 2 people ought to be allowed to marry if it makes them happy… and going by that standard, what’s to keep 2 or 3 or more people from marrying, or if what 2 consenting adults do in private blah blah blah. So, I TOTALLY apologize for the content of this story, and if you can keep from throwing up in your mouths and read it, you’ll understand where I’ve been going with this… http://www.momlogic.com/2010/04/indiana_grandmother_is_having.php

    • Anonymous

Thanks for posting. Very good illustration of what Santorum was talking about. Once you accept the idea that there are no moral absolutes anything goes.

    • Anonymous

Why apologize, that article is totally germane to the subject and character of Rick Santorum. I do believe his social conservatism positions are what we need to begin the correction of our moral decline. Rick Perry is an equally qualified candidate in my opinion and either one of them would be a big win for this country.

  • http://profiles.google.com/ajtelles Art Telles

The cream is rising to the top…

Santorum’s substantive comments reveal a “still waters run deep” comprehension of the issues of today’s political scene.

    And…

Santorum “knows” who the enemy of freedom is.

    - – - – - – - – -

As Robert Spencer wrote today –

Santorum: Sharia is “evil” and “incompatible with American jurisprudence and our Constitution”

“Santorum is going to get a lot of heat for this.

“When the Islamic supremacist tools in the mainstream media challenge him on it,
he should ask them if they think

    - the death penalty for apostates,
    - stoning for adultery,
    - amputation of the hand for theft,
    - the denial of the freedom of speech, and
    - institutionalized second-class status for women and non-Muslims is not evil.

    “They will then,
following some smooth Islamic supremacist deceiver,
    claim that those things are not part of Sharia;

“Santorum should then challenge them to
    - name one Muslim country that has ever implemented Sharia
    - without implementing those measures,
    - or one school of Islamic jurisprudence that
    - does not teach such things.”

    - – - – - – - – - -

    The comments are pro-Santorum.

    Right ON!!! Rick Santorum.

To show what an extremist/zealot I am, I’ve become a Newt supporter and I hope he wins. BUT, Santorum is excellent too.
To Glenn Beck’s fans; please explain to me the vast differences between Santourm and Gingrich? Explain why Glenn Beck has pure venom against Newt, uses unfair tactics, half truths, Olinsky style tactics to tear him down. Then he claim’s to support Santorum because he’s such a solid Conservative? Beck is a poser, he doesn’t care if Santorum wins, his real choice is Romney.
I contend if you support Santorum or Gingrich or Perry, it’s simply a matter of taste and comparing experience and talents. All 3 are the real Conservatives in this race. I could live with any one of them. They are almost identical on the issues.
Yet Beck says Newt is the same as obama? really? Newt is so bad Beck would vote for Ron Paul in a 3rd party over Newt. Really? If I support Newt I must be racist. Really? Beck used the words progressive, fascist, nefarious and devil to describe Newt. Santorum and Perry and Newt are near identical on all issues, so are Santorum and Perry also nefarious facist devils?
If I support Newt, I have my Conservative credentials called into question by a snake oil salesman like glenn beck. I have my motives questioned and I’m implied to be a racist? I don’t like to talk personally here, but my skin is white, and the woman I love and the kids I support, the people I work ,sacrifice, suffer and would die for, their skin is brown. Go figure. I hear endlessly on the left that conservatives are racist and I roll my eyes, I’m used to that garbage. Now I get it from from a so called conservative like glenn beck, so he is garbage to me too, just like the progressives he claims to fight. I don’t know Glenn’s agenda but it’s not the truth. (should’ve listened to Andrew Breitbart a long time ago.)

    • http://twitter.com/PJRodman Paula J Rodman

He really went after Newt either Thursday or Friday on the radio show. I don’t get it either…he acts like he’s had some divination into Newt’s soul and just MUST prophesy for us about this….which gets a bit creepy in itself a LOT here lately with Beck. He has also said-and so have the 4th hour guys bigtime-some really anti Catholic comments. Which makes me doubt he really really thinks Santorum could be like George Washington as he put it.

I felt like sending Beck the Walid Shoebat video where he explains from a biblical perspective that Islam and Mormonism are similarly derived cults, coming from the same heretical footing, both denying the divinity of Christ and the Holy Trinity…which technically speaking folks IS the basic tenet of Christian belief. You’d think if was seeking the truth in all his historical research he’d figure that little tidbit out. But, I guess as much as he seems to think he’s an oracle here lately he has no problem with Joseph Smith getting a little extra revelation.

“I don’t believe it, so I wouldn’t have said it.”
    vs.
“I can’t have illegals working here – I’m running for President, for Pete’s sake.”

Still, the earmarks thing is bad. Congress is authorized to spend money, but not to buy votes with. Santorum blatantly defends that, while criticizing DeMint, who reformed himself on earmarks. Yes, entitlements are bigger – is that the point?

It is not too much to ask that a candidate come to grips with his conscience on matters political before the very first time he asks for a vote into power, but I’ll take someone who’ll honestly admit he was wrong (Perry, even maybe Gingrich) before someone who’ll burn his bridges like that.

    • Anonymous

When candidates give all talk we all hear different things depending on our own hot buttons and perspectives. I thought what Santorum said about EARMARKS was very enlightening.

      1. McCain introduced it as an issue because McCains record on Entitlements was horrendous.

      2. Earmarks are constitutional

      3. The history of congress was for Senators and Representatives to make sure that their districts got a reasonable share of federal spending allocations.

      4. What made Earmarks bad, was the ABUSE of the process where important legislation could only be passed if powerful senators or representatives (e.g. Harry Reid) were allowed to attach earmarks to the bill. I suspect Rick Santorum never added irresponsible and inappropriate spending to bills.

      5. Santorum is so refreshing, open and honest about his record. NONE of the other leading candidates can match him for his candor. He openly and unapologetically tells us what he did, why he did it and provides perspective. If his position changes, he then articulates some very sound reasons why his position has changed, if it has. Another thing about Santorum is that he has been very, very consistent through his entire political career.

      6. Similar to Jim DeMint, Santorum went on the record in 2010 as opposing Earmarks because of the abuse of the practice.

LETS GET AWAY FROM THE EARMARK ISSUE. IT IS A RED HERRING!

      • Anonymous

Earmarks are .00001 percent of the budget.

      • Anonymous

Levin discussed this a couple nights ago and said that even Senator Inhoffe, who is conservative (and ethical), stated that earmarks are the only way that each congress rep can be held to account.

It is when money is appropriated and spent through the budget process and administered through grants that politicians can hide behind others. That’s where the big bucks get wasted/laundered.

        • Anonymous

How about we ban both of them and leave the money in tax-payers’ pockets? I am against Obama getting it for his pet projects, but how about none of them get it?

          • Anonymous

I’m all for that if the money is just being thrown away on stupid grants but not all the earmarks are wasteful or unneccessary. Personally, I’d like to see every expenditure reviewed by a citizen committee.

            • Anonymous

              Sounds good.

      • Anonymous

You are confusing earmarks with pork. When legislation can only get passed if additional spending is inserted, that is pork. When money in an appropriations bill is earmarked, it is only an indicator of exactly how that money will be spent. Think transparency. If the spending is not earmarked, it goes to Obama and his administration to dump into whatever bureaucratic agencies they want. Earmarks do not add any additional spending to a bill.

Bottom line: Earmarks are good. Every single dollar should be earmarked.

        • Anonymous

If the money is being taken by the federal government so they can determine which states get the money via earmarks, I’d just assume they don’t take the money at all and leave it in our pockets. If the states want it they can get it from us directly instead of having to go through the federal government to get it. When I see earmarks for bridges to nowhere or a museum with a politician’s name on it , it angers me. Most of the earmarks are wasteful projects, so isn’t the whole process a scam?

          • Anonymous

Yes, and that is why Ron Paul is in favor of earmarks…at least he is able to get as much money as he can back to his constituents. It is our money after all. Letting Obama and his jerkies spend it on a bunch of bureaucratic nonsense is the last thing we want. Central economic planning is terribly inefficient and prime for corruption.

I’d like to say only the positive things.

This interview of Mr Santorum by Sean Hannity gives me a positive perspective.

I like Santorum, but I hope everyone’s ready for the media to turn this into a religious circus. Everything will be focused on his religious views instead of the more important things. I’m ready….bring it on. Maybe it’s time we had a morality check in this country and shine some light on it.

    • Anonymous

It won’t be pretty and our side will lose the fight.

People don’t want government in our healthcare and sure don’t want government in our bedrooms.

Unfortunately, it is NOT the job of government to lecture and teach morality, it is the role of churches. Let’s just say it. Our churches are so busy building mega business organizations, they have lost their way… they have failed us.

      • Anonymous

It is not the size or finances of churches that endanger freedom – it is their embrace of social justice, globalism and corrupt humanitarianism.

It is the responsibility of our Constitutional government to preserve and defend inalienable rights. When politicians grant our rights instead of God we are slaves and subjects.

        • Anonymous

Glad you mentioned Social Justice, that term has been bandied about so often it has come to mean anything anyone wants it to.

      • Anonymous

I know it’s not the job of government to legislate morality and I wouldn’t want it to. I wasn’t thinking along those lines. As long as Santorum doesn’t push the idea of legislating it he should be ok. Other than wanting to ban gay marriage I don’t know that he has.

So, you believe that just having strong religious views will keep him from getting elected? I don’t have a problem with it as long as he doesn’t force it on everyone.

    • Anonymous

Think about it … were there “pundits” telling the colonists they should not rebel against the British Empire? Same with any “fork in the road” moment of our nation’s history.

The pundit has made (some) people intellectually lazy and complacent. We have essentially “outsourced” our own opinions and thought processes to these people.

Its time to divorce ourselves from the professional pundit who has no ties to the everyday concerns of citizens, and completely divorced from daily life.

“It’s an entire culture that focus on immediate gratification and the pursuit of happiness and personal pleasure, and huh it is, it is, harming America”~ Santorum.

So, is the pursuit of happiness a cult that harms America?
Republicans have absolutely lost it. Where did my party go?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez

SANTORUM: ‘PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS’ MEANS DOING WHAT WE OUGHT TO, NOT WHAT WE WANT

When we do what we ought to do, it leads to true happiness.

For instance, the commandments aren’t there to make us unhappy by restricting us – but to show us the way to a happy and fulfilled life

    • Linky1

To me, something worth having is worth working and sacrificing for.

That’s what I think Santorum was meaning-on that point, I agree wholeheartedly.

Too many people (Republican, Democrat, conservative, liberal, libertarian, name your niche) seem to have lost their way, wanting instant gratification, which, IMHO, includes instant happiness.

That “culture” has been pushed not only by the media, but by advertisers, government, promising instant anything, from weight loss to music to movies to meals, to the entitlement culture, where rights and privileges are “demanded”. There again, it is our culture, from government, to schools to advertisers to the media who promote this mindset – it’s all about me, me, me” – and it is going to take a lot to get people away from it-a whole culture shift that a new President or Congress can’t do alone.

      • BeenSoup

I have this in mind and whole heatedly agree. But it’s a lesson that needs to be learned and not mandated or forced upon us by Government or a value enforcing politician. Nothing is free, Not even values. Government needs to be removed from the equation on both ends of the spectrum. So we agree the pursuit of happiness is doing the right thing and getting the fruits of it. But not everyone knows this and there is only one real way to learn it.
