Thank you for posting this. I've got so much Doctor Who to catch up on. But to anyone, if you haven't watched any of it, you've got to start! Best family TV show put out in the UK (although I think adults are the biggest fans). Nothing like the slow, lame, in your face humor that they put in family TV here in the US.
Anyone watch the FreePac and Restoring Love events? I fall in and outta love with Beck all the time...but this was some very good stuff. Well done and worth the subscription for a month if you aren't already signed up. Loved the panel discussions covering the events too. He knows his stuff with big event production that's for sure. Oh, and did anyone see anything....anything...on the MSM regarding the number of people in Dallas for these Tea Party events? Buehler.
SUN News in Canada gave really good coverage to Restoring love, moreso than FOX or any of the other useful idiot networks. The stadium was a sellout, they got more people than that ond washed up has-been Paul McCartney did. I watched all of the events and they were all very inspirational.
Did you ever notice Beck has Protestants, Catholics and Rabbis but never Mormon leaders with him? Did you ever wonder why that was? Did you ever wonder why Beck always makes sure to specifically point out his religion when he's with them? Did you ever wonder why that was? Did you ever notice that just a year ago Beck continually compared Jesus to Gandhi and MLK but now he says his greatest wish is the return of Jesus? Do you wonder what made such a turn in his life???
Beck is bringing in religious leaders for a 'good cause' that any decent person would applaud, but Beck's main goal is to legitimize his religion. He's using clergy as useful idiots under the call to return to God to place his religion on equal footing even though the doctrines are diametrically opposed.
Yes, I have always been rather suspicious of his religious motives. I wonder if the other leaders know exactly what's going on but approve of the greater message though. Every single one of them knows that based upon core doctrine-The Trinity-Mormon's are not any more Christian than Muslims. (They don't seem to be known for suicide bombers and jihad-but have a pretty fierce world wide conversion mission going on- rather successfully)
I also wonder if the talent he's surrounding himself with and promoting-quite well I might add-are Mormon. The guy who sang the National Anthem that he just accidentally stumbled on before the Israel thing last year-cough cough- is in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I would assume they are required to be members in good standing?
Craig Ferguson is behind quite a few BBC televison shows. He brings the funny in quirky ways. One show in particular called Doc Martin is fantastic. We were suprised to find he was the writer.

We only caught the last half of the opening ceremony. I couldn't believe all the Pink Floyd imagery. Could you ever imagine 37 or 38 years ago, listening to the Floyd and thinking, "someday they will be thought of the same way people think of Beethoven."?

Why wasn't the LIAR at the games and opening ceremony? Geo Bush went to China in 2008. Also, I think the social agenda on display during the opening ceremony was bizarre!
Maybe our LIAR Blamer in Chief is still upset that Chicago did not get the future games for his Real Estate buddy's or are his personnal feelings still in a wad.

If this was staged by some secretive government program or agency to set up support for a treaty, that is one scary deal. The MSM seems to be complicit in that it is not reporting equally the odd details.

American swimmer Ryan Lochte wanted to wear a custom-made red, white and blue grill on the podium after winning the 400 IM -- presumably to honor the ancient Olympians who also used to ice out with tooth jewelry. His plan hit a snag when a humorless IOC official informed him that wearing the grill would result in a failure to receive the most precious bling of all.
Wayne Drehs of ESPN tweeted that Lochte said "he tried to wear his grill on the podium only to have an Olympics official tell him if he did so he wouldn't get his gold."
They were going to hold back Lochte's medal because of a grill? Even for the IOC, that's egregious. We wouldn't want anyone to have any fun after winning a gold medal at an Olympics, would we? Athletes like Ryan Lochte are what make the Olympics into the worldwide spectacle it is. If Lochte wants to dress up like the Queen to accept the medal, let him. Some nameless official shouldn't stand in his way.
You can thank the "black power" salutes in 1968 for that ruling, is what I would bet.
Notice how they try to spin it as a "human rights" protest, now. I lived through that era. They ALWAYS called it a "black power" salute. ALWAYS.
I don't mind it being a black power thing at all. But I don't support any stupid, leftist attempt to redefine the moment. It was all tied in the whole, 1968 riots and marches. They were not some leftist thing, not with the cadre of black Ministers of 1968 leading the marches.
I don't know how many computer buffs we have here, but this is for you.
I spent over $2,400 on a new computer (custom built), and I ordered 12 gigs of memory. They were late in getting it done (late parts delivery), so they knocked $100 off (from over $2,500). I got the computer home and they ripped me off. It only had 4 gigs of memory, which isn't enough to do my computer graphics programs.
So I just ordered 24 gigs of DDR3 memory. I'm going to be rockin' when I get it put in, lol.
I know this won't interest most of you, but some of you it might.
I hope they paid for that order of memory. Enjoy the new box!
It's pretty easy to assemble your own, these days, so I'd say next time, ask a friend who understands computer hardware to lend you a hand for beers, and try it yourself. It can be a fun afternoon of shopping, and a fun—although curse-filled—evening.
I get mad because they keep changing the backplates of the motherboards every now and then, which is what makes your old case not work at some point, if you want to build a new one in it. I had a case I used to love. You could use it as a substitute jack stand for working on a tractor if you wanted to. I used to stand on it to change light bulbs. It was huge, and if they hadn't reconfigured the standard back of motherboards, I'd still have it today. (I still always get the most heavy duty case I can get. I hate whappy, thin metal.)
My biggest advice to folks buying a new computer: the only "upgrade" you'll ever do that's worth your time is when you add more memory. By the time you want to upgrade anything else, your system won't support the format of the new stuff very well. So never buy based on the salesman telling you "you can always upgrade this computer." Just get the most for your money today, add more memory in six months, and then save your "upgrade" money for a new computer in five years or less.
I also have one other rule of thumb, even in this day of cheap, 1 and 2 TB hard drives: whenever you go to buy a hard drive, always buy one extra for however many you are planning to buy. Also, two 500GB drives is smarter than one, 1TB drive (two 1TB drives is better than one 2TB drive, etc).
I haven't bought a ready-to-run, desktop computer (except as a gift) in nearly 20 years. I've built (assembled) ten or more myself, though. That way I always get the best possible deal on the most powerful box I can stand (I never build for gaming, just for audio production, graphics design and number crunching power in spreadsheets; so a fairly run-of-the-mill graphics card is all I ever need.)
They've almost taken the fun out of it by making it so easy. Not quite, though.
I've had the computer for a year or so but never added memory to it.
I have custom built quite a few computers myself, but not since they changed to PC Express (been a while). The hard drives are different now and mine don't even register as hard drives. I can't remember what they are called now. They don't plug in the same way the old ones do with the ribbon cables. Point is, I haven't kept up on how the new PC's operate, so I didn't want to take a chance or deal with the headache.
I bought mine for graphics performance....which is why I'm ordering 24 gigs of ram (even though it's more than I'll need). When it comes to computers I go overboard.
On the windows 7 performance meter I currently have a 7.5 out of 7.9 possible. My memory and my hard drive are what's lowering the number. I even have a hard drive with no moving parts...supposed to be faster. It sure as hell cost more.
Solid state hard drive, that's it. They are very expensive. My main drive is only 80 gigs and my backup is a terabyte cheap drive. My tower is taller than my kneecaps and just as deep. It's a toy, lol.
30 hard drives are a lot of drives! I always transfer my data to the ever expanding disk sizes and pitch the old ones in the trash.
Oh yeah, I will definitely be putting in solid state drives next time around. I get around the cable mismatch problem by using external drive boxes. I have a stack of older drives I use for backups, and swap them in and out of a couple of external drive boxes that I rarely even screw back together. That way the swap is pretty fast. They all use a USB connection, which is OK for backup/restore, but too slow for actual computing.
I must have thirty hard drives in the various "keeper" piles I maintain (lots of backups of several computers). The rest are so old they went under the sledgehammer.
If that's all you need then you would be crazy to build one like I have. Of course, I don't need this much horsepower, either, lol.
Sounds like your computers are my guns. I just get by with enough to run video on the net well.

Freinds of mine in the old programming dodge in the 80's had a code phrase: "going home to walk the dog." Then they'd go to one guy's house and smoke a few doobies before returning to work. I couldn't handle that at all.
However, back then programmers were viewed as a necessary evil, and we got away with wearing flip flops and t-shirts to work in a building full of suits. Before they got so draconian on blood alcohol levels (EDIT: the drunk-driving laws, I mean), we'd go to a bar for lunch once a month or so, and come back to work so hammered we managed to slur our code.
It didn't matter. We worked so late into the night we'd be totally sober by 7pm and keep on working till midnight. Then get up at 7am and go do it all again.
