Sen. Jeff Sessions is vowing to hold up Jack Lew nomination over misleading Congress about the president’s budget:

FOX NEWS – A key Republican has vowed to block the expected promotion of White House Chief of Staff Jacob “Jack” Lew, saying he “must never be secretary of Treasury.”

Lew is expected to be nominated for the treasury secretary job by the end of the week.

A strongly worded statement by Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala. — prepared in anticipation of that nomination and obtained by Fox News — signals the bumpy ride Lew could face during the Senate confirmation process. Sessions, the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, says Lew misled Congress about the White House’s budget proposals and argues that should disqualify him from being put in charge of the government’s finances.

“Lew, as the president’s budget director, appeared before Congress and continued to insist that President Obama’s budget-which Lew had crafted-would not add to the debt of the United States,” Sessions said in the statement, calling Lew’s comments “the most direct and important false assertion during my entire time in Washington.”

“At this time of unprecedented slow growth, high unemployment, and huge deficits, we need a secretary of Treasury that the American people, the Congress and the world will know is up to the task of getting America on the path to prosperity; not the path to decline,” he said in the statement. “Jack Lew is not that man.”

Also, here’s a flash back from MRCtv on Jack Lew saying in 2011 “There is No Need to Deal With Social Security.”

Sen Sessions is one of the best men in Washington. He is also a leader on preventing amnesty for millions of lawbreaking foreigners.

I (politically) love that man! He became a hero to me the day he told sen. kennedy his moral compass couldn't get him across a bridge. To. His. Face. :)

Well, well, we finally see another Republican with a real backbone. Amazing.

I wonder if the rest of the wimps in the Republican Party will follow suit.

I doubt it, but hope springs eternal!

OT....what has happened to the Idaho Senators?!? When I lived in Boise I was constantly calling their offices and expressing my views, now I don't know what I'd say to those guys. :(

On topic...I'm hoping Senator Cruz and Senator Tim Scott will join Senator Sessions..."hope springs eternal" is right!

Unfortunately, I believe they have gone over to the "dark side", sort of. They are part of the RINO elite DC crowd who seem to like to "go along to get along". After all, they want to be invited to the best parties in DC! (Except for Crapo who got a DUI just before Christmas! Not good for a Mormon.)

Labrador has been a very good Rep so far and still believes in the Tea Party.

Jeff Sessions is a good man. Anyone obama puts in positions of power seem to be people that hate America and seek to take away our freedom.

You are right,12grace. Kerry at Secretary of State, Hagel at Secretary of Defense and Lew at Secretary of the Treasury makes you wonder who is making these nominations, the Muslim Brotherhood or our "American" president. In either case, the nominations would be the same. It is insane as having Hanoi Jane play the role of Nancy Reagan's life story. There is no doubt the American haters are totally in charge.

You actually mean that somebody that works for Obama didn't tell the truth? He should take a number and stand in line, behind people like Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder, to name just a few of the liars working for Obama.

I hope more than one senator will stand against these nominations because everyone Obama has nominated leans so far to the Left they can't stand up straight.

Hang in there Sessions! I'm sure it could be a rough and long but way overdue ride. About time someone got off their knees on the R side of the isle.

God bless Jeff Sessions. That's what a man looks like who has a little backbone.

We'll see how long it lasts or if it catches fire and others also straighten up.
