Let’s hope this scenario doesn’t come to fruition, but if you live in Hoboken you might want to start building an ark just in case. An even better idea: Leave town for a few days.

The red on this map represents the area of the city that would be flooded from just a relatively weak Category 1 hurricane. Orange, yellow, and green correspond with the flooding that would occur if the storm is any stronger, which is still quite possible although at this point the storm is expected to be Category 1 by the time it arrives in the NYC metro area, where Hoboken is situated across the river in New Jersey.

Hat tips: Save Jersey & Allahpundit.

This storm is as big as Wilma was when she covered our whole state. Even if it weakens and comes on as a cat. 1, you guys up north better have some good pairs of hip waders, and start the sand bagging. It’s not going to be a fun ride. I pray everyone’s safety, throughout the whole east coast areas!

ABC, I wonder if those west coast liberals are still laughing at and deriding the situation on the East coast. Never let a crises go to waste you know. How is our imposter in chief going to utilize this? Does he even know what is going on, has anybody dared to interrupt his playtime in Martha’s Vineyard? Can’t wait for his teleprompter inspired, speech writer written, pablum filled, nonsense driven, vote getting speech on this. I have a strong desire to let go of my lunch.

I’m not a liberal, but I am in CA and I’m not laughing, You get to high ground and stay safe! Heard the BO family is evacuating the vinyard, on two planes of course, we’ll just have to wait to see who he blames Irene on.

Having seen what Hurricane Ike did I gained a new respect for hurricanes. Don’t take them lightly, if they say leave then leave.

      Amen to that!

And Obama is still partying on Martha’s Vineyard. This may not be an appropriate time or place, but something I want to point out about Rick Perry that I haven’t seen mentioned. When Katrina struck, Perry had Texas prepared with evacuation centers, medical supplies, emergency relief, volunteers, etc., etc. It was Texas that took in most of the evacuees, many of whom have not gone back to N’awlins. But good luck to the folks on the East Coast. Get the heck out of there for a couple days.

I’m not too thrilled with Jeb these days, but when Charlie, Jeanne, Francis and Wilma all came through – the first 3 within months of each other, Jeb Bush had everything in place as well and handled things great. So far, all the leaders seem to be doing the right thing here, not like N.O.

As Brendon Loy and others have been pointing out, Irene’s storm surge will be +1 strength relative to the “normal” surge associated with a Cat. 1. In other words, get the hell out of Hoboken.

My son lives in Hoboken. He’ll be hunkering down with 3 friends in a 5th floor apartment with enough food and water to last several days after the storm. That still doesn’t mean his mom won’t worry ;-) .

Mary, thanks for sharing that info about Perry. I remember how welcoming Texas was after Katrina and hope these kinds of stories about Perry make it to the surface.

Try not to worry too much Mom. But I know what you mean. (())s
