Steven Hayes vs Juan Williams on Sarah Palin’s gun imagery

I’m really starting to get sick of this debate. Hayes said it best, that if someone is going to go blow someone’s head off, it’s not because they saw targets on a facebook map. But let’s just say for argument that in fact that was the case, that someone saw targets and went and shot (God forbid!) a congressman. Would we then say that it was Sarah Palin’s fault? Would we condemn all target symbols and the use of ‘reload’ verbiage when referring to members of congress, or anyone else for that matter? No. We would all chalk this up to someone who was mentally unstable, especially if they said cross hairs on a map set them off.

This is all politics. I could be wrong but I don’t remember having this discussion during the last 8 years when dissent was justified. Hayes is correct that they are trying to change the subject, and it appears that the media is fairly easy to manipulate, including Fox News. It’s all we’ve been hearing in the last week or two. I’m not saying Fox shouldn’t cover it, but let’s put it in its place and move on. Don’t let the Democrats change the subject off of this government takeover of health care.
