Stop Health Care Reform Bill – Open thread

I will be posting all day anything relevant to this health care discussion. Also we will be monitoring the Capitol for al the patriots that have gone to DC to fight this health care bill. If you want to send me a photo or a tip you can do so either over twitter at @trscoop or email me at [email protected].

I’ll start with a bit of not-so-good news:

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) “for the first time admitted that Republicans were not likely to defeat health care reform legislation,” Roll Call reports.

“The House is expected to vote Sunday afternoon on the Senate version of the bill, and Republicans had until now expressed confidence that they could block the vote.”

UPDATE: A rumored Stupak deal is now off:

Two pro-life GOP members close to Stupak tell NRO that any Stupak deals are off. They just spoke with him and they said he’s finished with Pelosi. They rejected his enrollment corrections proposal.

UPDATE: This is the best photo I’ve seen of the crowd in DC:

UPDATE: I finally found the photo I was looking for. It’s the largest version I can find from Rep. Patrick McHenry:

UPDATE (Sunday): There’s alot of talk this morning of the democrats having the votes. But they are still wheeling and dealing with Bart Stupak with possibly an executive order from the President banning public funds for abortion:

Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) said Sunday morning that he is close to striking a deal with the Obama administration on abortion provisions.

“We are close to getting something done,” Stupak said in an interview with MSNBC.

Stupak said he engaged in talks late into Saturday night.

The possible deal would focus on an executive order that would specify there would be no public funding for abortions in the healthcare bill.

“We’re close but we’re not there yet,” Stupak said.

Democratic leaders said Sunday they have the votes on healthcare reform, but Stupak said until there is a deal struck, they don’t have the 216 votes they need.

Stupak said “there were eight of us” in the negotiating room, all of them no votes.

It what Bart says is right, they don’t have the votes yet, although I doubt they will let abortion funding derail this bill.

UPDATE: Via Press Conference, Bart Stupak has folded with his flimsy executive order and now will vote for the health care bill. Yes, this really sucks.
